Watson is from Gainesville Ga, a small town. He went to Clemson, another small town. Drafted by Houston, the 4th largest city in US. It doesn't take long for Houston to discover Watson is their franchise QB. Watson starts hanging out with Hopkins, drops his long time girlfriend. Hopkins has multiple Baby Mommas, frequents strip clubs and hangs out with strippers, displays poor practice habits. Watson previously had a complete different set of priorities than Hopkins behavior and routine. It doesn't take much imagination at all to understand why Watson's family, team executives would become concerned and worried over Watson's new found influences and possible bad behavior habits that could potentially lead to derailing a very promising career. This would also bring into question preacher Easterby's influence in this situation.Yes. So...if Janice did nothing for three years and no player complained and as you said #4 became more in public eye with his girlfriend (somewhere I started a thread) and enjoying the wine women and song again as you said - - who could have concern? Concern and absolutely knew if a call was made the owner of Texans would respond. I am counting on my hand. 1 and
I don't give much credit to the QB camp scenario. Remember Watson was only 22 when he left Clemson. Most of those QB camps would have been in his much earlier youth. So highly doubtful those counselors are interested in corrupting a bunch of teenagers. I see it as an opposite, these counselors are there to promote the positive and stress the things you need to do to have a chance and be successful in college and beyond. Getting a bunch of young teens drunk and banging strippers is not one of them. Their camps wouldn't be open long if they were.If JB is correct being around bad boys (not me of course) in a QB camp would not seem to be the same as being a teammate for three years with more In the future. Also as some since the trade occurred have posted Hopkins 'behavior" deteriorated and became more in the public knowledge the last two seasons. Dashaun's girlfriend arrived on the scene recently and Deann Watson might have seen a bad moon on the rise and concern about her son.
Important to remember, it's not about how we see or interpret things but the way people closer to the scene do.
Does any other scenario make better sense? The mother of our franchise quarterback being upset and calling a mother who owns the team to voice her concern and said owner agreeing and attempting to mollify sends her demand to the GM head coach " get him out of here now I don't care what you get for him! " Dislike BOB or not, that makes way more sense than an NFL coach doing that trade.
Anyone can still dislike Bill O'Brien just not for Hopkins.
Merry Texans Christmas everyone
There’s a lot we don’t know. A lot we’ll never know & guessing (to me) is a worthless endeavor.Concern and absolutely knew if a call was made the owner of Texans would respond. I am counting on my hand. 1 and
What Happened to recouping picks from Tunsil?I said in my post BOB could easily let it be known it wasn’t his idea without throwing the owner under the bus. I also had contacts with the team (they are no longer there) and I do know that BOB absolutely had issues with Hopkins practice habits, and that they had planned to trade him to recoup the draft picks from the Tunsil trade. Im not doubting that Janice had an issue with Hopkins BUT I do know BOB had a hand in it as well
That is exactly why I believe that O'Brien had little say or we would have held on for more pics. Bill may have been crazy but he wasn't going to ship out arguably the best wide receiver in the league for what we got. I'm thinking somebody higher up had to say get him gone and gone he was. There’s a lot we don’t know. A lot we’ll never know & guessing (to me) is a worthless endeavor.
All I take from this is Hopkins was ousted for non-football related reasons from on high.
And for all I know it might have been the right decision. Fact, our passing game is as good as it has been. Production wise.
But regardless who whispered in McNair’s ear, it was a McNair that made the decision.
The really damaging part of the transaction was what we got in return. & that wasn’t a McNair.
Buffalo gave up a 1st, basically two fifths & a 6th round pick.
Yeah, Hopkins wanted a new contract so maybe all we could get from Buffalo (who took on Diggs big contract) was a 1st and a 4th.
But we should have got better than David Johnson & a 2nd
.Dashaun very close to his mother Deann and all I know of her she will go grizzlie momma on anyone she thinks might be leading him astray.Watson is from Gainesville Ga, a small town. It can always get worse.Merry Christmas to all those who work for and follow the Texans. It’s going to get better. Because it can’t get much worse.
I’ve seen BO’b (& Kubiak for that matter) do some stupid stuff to prove a point. Yeah, I can see him sending Hop to Arizona, accepting that offer out of spite. That is exactly why I believe that O'Brien had little say or we would have held on for more pics. It’s an interesting topic of debate. I believe BoB and Hopkins were engaging in a Cold War and then there was something, or someone else that came along to help shove the McNair’s into seeking a trade. That is exactly why I believe that O'Brien had little say or we would have held on for more pics. Well hopefully some of us will live to see the day someone at some point will tell the story of what REALLY went down. I mean it’s a top 5 “what were they thinking” worst trade ever so it’ll get out there one dayIt’s an interesting topic of debate. I think it was a culmination of things that initiated serious trade discussions between the Texans and a team that could afford to give him what he wanted. It was a horrible way to do business but someone in ownership was moved enough by an outsider to send Hopkins packing.

I think it’s this simple. Hopkins grew to be a guy who wouldn’t take no ****. OB wore out his welcome. The problem was at the time, McNairs sided with OB. Wonder if they regret trading Hopkins only to get rid of OB months later.Bill and Hop got into a very heated exchange after that embarrassing playoffs loss against the Chiefs. To the point of no return. Hop said some nasty things about that offense.

Sure and I'm not saying Bill did not want Hop gone just that he would have held out until he got more. Of course Bill could have just been stupid crazy but I just don't see him giving up best wide receiver for what he got without upstairs pressure.Bill and Hop got into a very heated exchange after that embarrassing playoffs loss against the Chiefs. My unpopular (maybe only to the insiders here) opinion is, regardless of everything else, if Hopkins and O’Brien got along Hop would still be here. Now, would they have beaten KC, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore to start the season? Probably not. But I think they would have beaten Minnesota. They might have even beaten Tennessee. 6 games in with a 3-3 record. And O’Brien would still be here, driving us crazy.I think it’s this simple. Hopkins grew to be a guy who wouldn’t take no ****. Agree. That is where I'm at on this topic. There were so many other reasons to fire O'Brien. The Hopkins trade was an unnecessary reason, but if it was "a means to an end" for the O'Brien era, I will grudgingly take it.My unpopular (maybe only to the insiders here) opinion is, regardless of everything else, if Hopkins and O’Brien got along Hop would still be here. In a bizarre way, trading Hopkins might have been the best thing for us.
Your view not unpopular to me I just think differently. I think mad or not Bill would have held out for better deal. His angry outburst at a fan or other incidents did not cause a loss like DHop. I do agree that the two didn't get along and when other non Texans became involved, Deandre had to go.My unpopular (maybe only to the insiders here) opinion is, regardless of everything else, if Hopkins and O’Brien got along Hop would still be here. No you did not expect too much. Your expectations are right in line. Kelly is just not an offensive coordinator at least here. But you can say that about all of the coaches in my opinionRandom thought. I always expected a team to go into a game with a set of script plays. However, coaches have to not only quickly determine how the opposing team is trying to attack or stop you, but also how your team is performing on a certain day. The HC, and/or OC have to be able to adjust on the fly and quickly. If your QB is not seeing the field well or the OL is struggling with a front or the WRs are not getting separation, how quickly can you counter and help your players during the ebb and flow of an NFL game.
I was surprise that after being under O'Brien's wing for 6 years, this was Kelly's takeaway on play calling duties. I always assumed this was a prerequisite for being an OC. Did I expect too much?
If by you mean pressure the McNair's told him what to do then you would be correct. I will debate you on who the best WR in the game is today if you want. Give me Diggs/Adams.
Neither one of those receivers are better than Hopkins. Stop it. Neither one of them are on record of making their trashy quarterbacks look half decent ( excluding Watson and Murray)
Every time, I get to the point of "potentially" agreeing with you, I remember the Cobb, Martin, Murray and Mercilus contracts. The 3rd rounders for Duke and Conley and the picks for Tunsil andThat is exactly why I believe that O'Brien had little say or we would have held on for more pics. Diggs has the most catches in the NFL and plays with that trashy azz Allen.
Before that he played with that trashy azz Keenum.
Meanwhile Hopkins has played with the trashy azz DW4/Murray.
Allen has improved tremendously so your attempt to discredit what was said last year and before this season is pretty childish. Allen performance this season had been up there with the elite class.
Again Hopkins is the best receiver in the game whether you want to agree without or not.
Did you call Allen trash?Diggs has the most catches in the NFL and plays with that trashy azz Allen.

ESPN has Hopkins rated number 1 here.
Top 10 per ESPN
1. DeAndre Hopkins
2. Travis Kelce
3. Stefon Diggs
4. Justin Jefferson
5. DK Metcalf
6. Tyreek Hill
7. Calvin Ridley
8. Davante Adams
9. Allen Robinson II
10. Terry McLaurin
Ok and not trying to say any of that worked but:Every time, I get to the point of "potentially" agreeing with you, I remember the Cobb, Martin, Murray and Mercilus contracts. The 3rd rounders for Duke and Conley and the picks for Tunsil and
eventually, I come to the conclusion, nothing is too crazy for a guy who was in over his head, did not understand team building, player evaluations, contracts, and the free agent market,
Kelce isn't a WR but he's the most dangerous reciving weapon in the NFL. As far as most dangerous give me Hill over Hopkins.
No Keenan Allen/Theilen on this list
The only thing I’d point to in this is that O’Brien seemed to have blind faith in David Johnson, maybe as if signing him in this trade was akin to gaining a 1st or 2nd rounder and therefore value in the trade. There’s a lot we don’t know. A lot we’ll never know & guessing (to me) is a worthless endeavor.

I think Hopkins May have taken a turn down “Diva Lane”....
OBrien didn’t like him “missing” practices. Now the media in AZ is questioning him about missing practices. Then he gives them the “that’s why I play football and you don’t” reply.
OB being OB didn’t like it and that combined with Hop wantin more money may have been the last straw.
Who knows if OB went to momma McNair or not. If OB wanted to piss off Hop he should have NOT traded him and let Hop hold out. But he got a bag of stinky turds instead in that trade.
it is what it is...
That, because it hurt his feelings and he was turning DivaThe reason Hop got traded was the story of 2 mommies.
Well here's a belated merry Christmas wish to you Lucky and others on the Texans board and an early Happy New Year wish to allMerry Christmas to all those who work for and follow the Texans. It’s going to get better. Because it can’t get much worse.
No it was not.The reason Hop got traded was the story of 2 mommies.
No it was not.
If you say so
You can choose to believe this or not.
Nothing to do now except call the Texans what they are, a crap team waiting on new leadership. New leadership that will be hired by the same folks who brought you this bullshit in the first place.
