My mistakeYes, that's what i said;but you quoted OT
D J called a break out performer after the first two games:My mistake
My point still stands.
What point?My mistake
My point still stands.
No QB has won a SB making more than 13.2 percent of the cap. What point?
Very small sample sizeNo QB has won a SB making more than 13.2 percent of the cap.
Every time I read this stat. I wonder why we never posted or discussed that regardless of QB salary, no former Belichick assistant has become a HC and won a Super Bowl.No QB has won a SB making more than 13.2 percent of the cap.
He got that from Corrosion so now he’s going drive that home every time.Very small sample size
I'm so glad Watson won't be making 13.2% of the cap any time soon. Hopefully the new regime can manage the finances better than the last three. No QB has won a SB making more than 13.2 percent of the cap.
I wished I knew 13.2% and all these things were as certain as death and taxes. It would have save me from making so many trips to Specs. In other news - no Houston QB has ever won a SB regardless of their cap %.
No QB named Deshaun has ever won a SB.
No team, in the history of the league, has ever won a SB with a Watt brother on the team.
If a frog had wings it wouldn't bump it's ass when it hopped (of course if it had wings, why would it hop? I smell a conspiracy)
Facts people - We. Are. Doomed.
Since 1994Very small sample size
YepI'm so glad Watson won't be making 13.2% of the cap any time soon. Hopefully the new regime can manage the finances better than the last three.
True and I wouldn't hire a BB assistant because of this. For every Flores you get a Patricia or RAC as HC.Every time I read this stat. I wonder why we never posted or discussed that regardless of QB salary, no former Belichick assistant has become a HC and won a Super Bowl.
The truth needs to be driven home.He got that from Corrosion so now he’s going drive that home every time.
26 yrs and counting.I wished I knew 13.2% and all these things were as certain as death and taxes. It would have save me from making so many trips to Specs.
Over 50%Since 1994
What would you consider a large sample size?
Over 50% of what?Over 50%
It hasn't been a qtr of a century yet, but there have been 1/2 century of SB'sOver 50% of what?
Over a qtr of a century is a large sample size.
Whatever they are, they'd be worse without Watson.Yep
What are the odds the Texans win a SB within the next 2 yrs?
Where they're at right now they should've blown it all up and started over. This includes DW4. Better isn't good enough.Whatever they are, they'd be worse without Watson.
Where they're at right now they should've blown it all up and started over. This includes DW4. Better isn't good enough.
Oh well 160 mil later that's water under the bridge.
Texans org is really good for entertainment value. I LMAO all the time at the McNair's.
You do if you don't think your franchise dude can bring you a championship.Hahaha you don’t ever get rid of your franchise dude. Like I stated before, you’re not fooling anyone.
The salary cap era started in 1994It hasn't been a qtr of a century yet, but there have been 1/2 century of SB's
So the first SB in the cap era was in 1995. So my drumk self can't do math, still less than 50%The salary cap era started in 1994
Actually it was 94 and Young was the QBSo the first SB in the cap era was in 1995. So my drumk self can't do math, still less than 50%
What would our chances be of winning a Super Bowl in the next 2 years if they did?Where they're at right now they should've blown it all up and started over. This includes DW4.
The same 0 percent but the future would be brighter. What would our chances be of winning a Super Bowl in the next 2 years if they did?
This 13.2% cap on QB is a ludicrous idea.I wished I knew 13.2% and all these things were as certain as death and taxes. It would have save me from making so many trips to Specs.
It was the 94 season and that seasons SB was playwd in 95, but yeahActually it was 94 and Young was the QB
You had me checking my math. Lol
That’s that same, “Get rid of Keenum/Yates & spend more money for Fitzpatrick/Hoyer.” Thinking that got us here. We’ll have barely winning, slipping into the playoffs if we’re lucky team ready to fall apart once we find a franchise QB.The same 0 percent but the future would be brighter.
I think the fallacy is that the SB winning QBs of the last decade has had 13+% contracts at one time or another in their career. Just not at the time they won the Super Bowl. Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger won Super Bowls as top paid QBs in this league. Whatever shenanigans Brady & New England played or structure the Steelers, Colts, or Broncos used to allow them to build their teams, they did. & regardless what cap is or will be we’re going to find a way to build a team. It’s not like they can say, “we’re not going to play this year.”But that is a fallacy of argument.
As I had shown at least a couple of situations where teams that had won a SB still has plenty of cap space to do whatever they want.
Based on Texans history.....you could shite in one hand and wish in the other.....you know how the story goes from there. The same 0 percent but the future would be brighter.
I'm good with fully rebuilding under the new regime, that includes DW4. Build the team back up with the draft picks gotten in trade and the cap space gained from those trades over the next couple of yrs. Then trade multiple picks to get your QB if a Manning/Warner situation doesn't arise letting you get your QB that way. The Texans have never done business this way and never will as long as the McNair's own the team. Just another reason the Texans wont ever win a championship with McNair's owning the team. They never fully clean house and will always be stuck in mediocrity because of this. McNair's gotta make their $$$$.That’s that same, “Get rid of Keenum/Yates & spend more money for Fitzpatrick/Hoyer.” Thinking that got us here. We’ll have barely winning, slipping into the playoffs if we’re lucky team ready to fall apart once we find a franchise QB.
Building around DW4 would be like building around Alex Smith. We’ll have a division winning team ready for Mahomes to take us to the next step.
True, that's another reason why the Texans will never win under the McNair's ownership.Based on Texans history.....you could shite in one hand and wish in the other.....you know how the story goes from there.
The key is to structure your contracts in a way to give yourself a chance to win a SB. Mahomes has a chance to break this trend because they can cut guys like Hill and draft another speedster to replace him. They already have Hardman waiting in the wings to replace Hill/Watkins etc... in a couple of yrs. Plus Mahomes is a transcendent talent.I think the fallacy is that the SB winning QBs of the last decade has had 13+% contracts at one time or another in their career. Just not at the time they won the Super Bowl. Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger won Super Bowls as top paid QBs in this league. This 13.2% cap on QB is a ludicrous idea.
Corrosion or whoever started it wants to mean that it leaves the team with little money left to build a team.
And he (they) use as proof that no QB that ever won a SB occupied that much cap space.
But that is a fallacy of argument.
As I had shown at least a couple of situations where teams that had won a SB still has plenty of cap space to do whatever they want.
(If I continue to look it up, I'm fairly sure I'll come up with more.)
So whatever @steelbtexan wants to call "truth" is actually a Big Fat Misinformation and not even a half-baked truth.
Card Stacking. What you showed is that they pushed that money to future years. (The Brady cap hit was a joke as he was a Free Agent).
Fact still remains that no QB has won a superbowl earning greater than 13.2% of the cap in that year.
That doesn't mean it can't happen ..... but 26 years and many HOFer QB's later should be plenty of evidence that you still need a quality team around that guy - You know , the same argument you guy's make for Watson - He needs X Y & Z ..... well , when you pay him 20% of the total , you are starting out behind the 8 ball in those seasons.
Any thought as to who would step up to buy Texans if McNair did put the team on the market? Do you have any concern that a new owner would relocate the team?I'm good with fully rebuilding under the new regime, that includes DW4. Why start over, almost got this one broken in. 3... 4 more seasons & he'll have made all possible mistakes. Then it's good times ahead.Any thought as to who would step up to buy Texans if McNair did put the team on the market? Do you have any concern that a new owner would relocate the team?
So...we are going to eliminate repeating mistakes? What makes you think that? One of the guys on today's game said Crennel could be HC next season with Easty remaining GM. Shudder. Why start over, almost got this one broken in. 3... 4 more seasons & he'll have made all possible mistakes. Then it's good times ahead.
You've been a Texans fan longer than any HC has been a HC of the Texans. You've been a fan longer than any GM has been a GM of the Texans.So...we are going to eliminate repeating mistakes? Just do not forget I am 70. Not so sure about time anymore. Besides I could have had more fun and pleasure Sitting by the pool today looking at the lake. You've been a Texans fan longer than any HC has been a HC of the Texans. You've been a fan longer than any GM has been a GM of the Texans.
Just wait them out. Other than @Thorn Time is on our side.
I dont know who would buy the Texans. If local I would think somebody from the energy sector. I'm not worried at all about a new owner moving the team, with the guaranteed sell outs. A new owner would be crazy to move the team. The Houston Texans are a slot machine that's paying off millions every yr.Any thought as to who would step up to buy Texans if McNair did put the team on the market? Do you have any concern that a new owner would relocate the team?
I'll be 70 next year. No biggie. The only thing that really effects me over time is how stupid people get stupider and having to deal with that.Just do not forget I am 70. Not so sure about time anymore. Besides I could have had more fun and pleasure Sitting by the pool today looking at the lake.
Just do not forget I am 70
I had no idea. You come across much youngerJust do not forget I am 70.
if either of those happen i am tapping out of my Texans fandomSo...we are going to eliminate repeating mistakes? What makes you think that? One of the guys on today's game said Crennel could be HC next season with Easty remaining GM. Shudder.
