TEXANS ATTEMPTING A REBOUND AGAINST THE RAVENS IN WEEK 2

I agree there are a lot of issues with this team and Deshaun isn’t perfect. But I also think most of those issues fall on Bill and Deshaun has much more upside than Bill does. And yes the Texans schedule won’t do them any favors this year.

Neither one are championship quality at their jobs.

There are many issues with this team, the HC/QB/Secondary etc....

It's not only the HC. There's plenty of blame to go around, however I choose to believe the Texans lost to 2 better teams.
Absolutely correct, but I hope you don't consider that as justification... we should be one of the better teams and in a league based on parity we should at least put up a better fight.

Was Fullers hamstring only significant injury? Howard came back in; anyone know why Scharping went out? I did not see an injury.

The Arizona Cardinals had 7 players with multiple receptions today. Hopkins had 8 and Fitzgerald had 7. The Texans also had 7 players with multiple receptions today but of course we were fed that we got rid of Hopkins in order to spread it around more. I believe it's easier to spread it around with a guy like DHop being double and tripled and obviously Kingsbury figured it out. Interesting that a 2nd year coach could make it work but OB couldn't. After two weeks, the Hopkins trade looks even worse.

Kingsbury is ten times the offensive mind that BOB is and its not even debatable.

Streaming is up, but overall viewers is still down. Texans v. Chiefs was the lowest rated kickoff game since 2008. The increase in streaming viewers only accounted for 970,000 viewers, last year's kickoff game had 627,000 viewers.

How can they (whoever 'they' is ) possibly measure how many were streaming?

Under O’Brien, the Texans have been unable to distribute carries between two RBs. I doubt they will be able to figure out how to consistently distribute the ball among these WRs.

He was re-signed prior to week 1. He played in week 1. He was not on the inactive list today. He remains on the active roster. I am not aware of him being injured before or during the game. But I don't believe he had taken any snaps today.
I reviewed the game..................Weeks snapped for the 1st PA and Fulton snapped for the 1st FG and Weeks snapped for the 2nd and 3rd FGs.

Yup! They was out there Ballin!
Crazy when you do stuff that fits his style of play what can happen. That’s a crazy thing though.

Or, no DC was game planning for him whatsoever in 2017 during that very small sample size when he was “ballin”

In the 3 seasons since then that he’s been scouted, studied, and picked apart by opposing teams.....you see how good he is.
Or, more specifically, you see how merely decent he is.

If it was as simple as “just doing what they did in 2017”, that’s what they’d be doing now. Keep holding out hope that the handful of games 3 years ago was the real Watson and the 30+ games since then is a mirage if it makes you feel better though.

Look... I'm not going to claim DW had a good game.

But one team had a good game plan.
One team played smarter.
One team played more aggressive.
One team has an identity.

I don't think the problem is talent. One team knew what they had to do to win this game and they executed.

I really thought Watson played well in the first half , he was letting it go quick when required and playcalling was solid (after the first drive) ... getting him outside the pocket testing those corners.

Second half he went back to the things that I complain about ....

We pretty much got what we expected this game - an ass whoopin at the hands of a top 2 NFL squad , just like last week.

If you don’t think the Ravens offense is innovated and modern then I don’t know what to tell you. Every person on Earth knows they had to revamp their design to fit Lamar’s skill set. They aren’t forcing him to be something he isn’t

No doubt about it they built that system for Jackson .... but you got to give that kid a heck of a lot of credit for improving on the things he didn't do well early on ....

They said he couldn't pass - He's killing it. Long , short , checkdown .... He's improved by leaps and bounds since coming into the league.

Should've watched kc and chargers. Great finish and that kicker is amazing
I did. The Chargers played the #1 team to their knees. That's what's so disappointing about the Texans. It's like, we played the #1 team last week and the #2 team this week so we're supposed to lose. And guess what, they played like they were supposed to lose. I guess San Diego didn't get the message, because they played like they were supposed to win. Last year we lost on opening day but we played hard and were right in it to the very end. This year it just seems different. There was a story going around about DHop becoming a leader in the locker room and OB didn't like it. It seems to me the team lacks leadership. I don't know if Hopkins was the right guy for the job but he sure seemed to lead by example on game day.

I dont have a QB. The Texans have a QB, one they chose to pay $ 160 million over the next 4 yrs. It's going to be a long 4 yrs.

Hopefully you're wrong because the QB play currently isn't championship quality play.

.....the FO, coaching staff and team around him are of Championship quality and somehow Watson is dragging the success of this organization down? Is this your stance?

The Texans need to sever ties with OB. Let a new GM and HC assess the team and make the needed changes.

Ran across a surprising stat just now on Jackson .... Total QBR - Jackson has three of the top seven best games in the history of the league according to that statistic

Texans on the top 50 list - Fitzpatrick #20 , Watson #23 & 48.

Mahomes - Not listed.

Case Keenum is at #14

Also in 2019 the 4th best QBR for a full season in the history of the league according to the total QBR stat behind only Brady in 2007 , Manning in 2006 and Rodgers in 20011. That's some damn good company.

Texans on this list - Schaub #47 in 2011

Mahomes 2019 was #31

My stance is neither BOB or DW4 are good enough to win a championship with and the Texans are wasting time with them. The overall roster talent wise is about the 3rd or 4th most talented in the AFC which is what the last 2 weeks has shown us.

3rd/4th most talented roster in the afc? Really? How you come up with that? I actually believe we are middle of the pack or even worse.

I would be totally on board with a full house cleaning. It's probably going to happen in a couple of yrs anyways. This isn't a championship level coaching staff or roster even if you had Belichick coaching them.

You must be new here. After a tirade or few he's wisely got me on ignore (loudest posters hate reality), but this type of "covering every base" is pretty normal.

Question: which do you believe is the bigger problem, OB or DW4? I believe, hands down it’s OB. His coaching and roster management is really, really bad. His offense is a joke, it truly is. It looks like the opposing defense knows what’s coming. Watching other reams, I see WRs getting wide open, I see QBs throwing from clean pockets, I see well designed runs. I see none of this with us. I feel like I’m watching an offense from the Capers days. Everything just looks difficult.

How do you think Lamar Jackson would look if OB got his hands on him for 4 yrs? I would bet a large sum of money he wouldn’t look like the NFL MVP.

He’s still Ballin now, he’s not “decent” but if you fee that way you can have it. It’s couple people on here I won’t ever entertain who thinks Deshaun isn’t that good. This offense still isn’t fitting his style of play fully. Play designs have to be some of the worst I’ve ever seen often.

Guys, it's been 7 years of this ****.

Kubiak was here 8 seasons and we knew like 3 or 4 seasons before his last one that his time with the Texans was likely best suited as done. And he had legitimate excuses. And he wasn't even the GM!

But we decided as a fan base THEN that most anything that happens with this team is the fault of the coach.

Ya well, the coach is the GM now too. Like, why are you guys even having this same tired ass dumb ass argument still.

This guy is gonna ruin our franchise quarterback and that franchise quarterback is going to be just another in the long line of wasted all-time talent of this franchise but especially this tyrant.

There is no maturity. No growth. No development. No discipline. Nothing but the hollowest of hollow playoff berths and rightful, repeated, expected annihilations.

For God's sake you guys are talking about offensive identity in this thread. We don't have an offensive identity. Or a defensive one. For the life of me I can't even begin to determine what this team is supposed to be.

As stated above, you guys are watching a rerun. It's like we're in hell and it's just the same game each week of each season.

It's been 7 years of this ****. And there's no end in sight.

They share equal responsibility. IMHO However DW4 has more room to improve as he's young and not as set in his ways as BOB. But this doesn't mean I think he will improve enough to win a championship because his flaws cant be fixed.

LJ is a special talent (The most talented player on the field) and no I dont think he would be as successful.

We didn't decide to blame everything on the HC back then, in fact I said at the time that RS was mostly to blame for the Texans orgs most pressing issues. Kubiak did have his own issues though, the same as BOB has issues (Too conservative)

We dont know how BOB the GM is going to do as he only has had 1 yr calling the shots as GM. I dont have a problem with the trades he's made. I know most do have a problem. I do have a problem with BOB the GM handing out the kind of contracts that will ruin this franchise for the next 4 yrs regardless of whether they fire BOB or not. (DW4/Nick Martin/Mercilus etc... was overpaying for avg talent.)

We have an avg to maybe slightly above avg QB with issues that cant/wont be fixed by any HC. So no, BOB's not ruining DW4 unless he's a mental midget. (Which he's not.)

BOB's not as bad of a coach as you make him out to be. Is he a championship level HC? Nope and you're right after 7 yrs it's time to move on but we fans dont get to make that call and no amount of b!tching/Wh!ning is going to change this. So fans have 1 of 3 choices, 1. Realize this will pass in a couple of yrs and remain a fan of the team. 2. Find another team to root for and move on. 3. Stop watching the NFL altogether.

Which fan are you going to be?

BO'b is either too stubborn and egotistical to format an offense that fits DW4 or he is too stupid to do that. I'd like to think that the fast start by DW4 before he was first injured was not just an aberration but something that is still possible. Well maybe not quite what that was due to not having DH10. Still, I think our offense could be much better if BO'b utilized it accordingly.

Not going to happen DW4's not going to change. Take yesterday for example, he played very well for most of the game but was late with a throw and a game changing INT happened. He also was leading a comeback and had a receiver open inside the 10 yd line, he threw a terrible pass and that pretty much sealed the Texans fate. I know QB's miss throws from time to time but these are game changing plays that have to be made if the Texans are going to win games.

I think BOB should use DW4 differently too and have said if you want DW4 to be truly successful the Texans need to run the Ravens scheme. Injury risks be damned. But even if they ran the Ravens scheme the throws I listed that DW4 missed still have to be made if you're going to have a winning team.

What am I b!tching/Wh!ning about? Care to point out where I've said the highlighted in other threads. I may have said this but certainly not often.

You dont like the facts I pointed out in the highlighted portion of my post. I get it, it still isn't going to change a thing until Janice/ Cal decides to make a change. This is a fact that you cant seem to accept.

The Texans got their asses convincingly handed to them by two of the best teams in the league, which means we don't qualify to be in that club. Hopefully most of you knew that anyway. If not, you should now.
They've been dominated on both lines of scrimmage. Which is very disheartening because they have so much money and draft picks on that offensive line in just the tackles. Howard was a first rounder. Tunsil cost two first round picks...plus the cap space he's eating up.

The DL and OL look soft.

Howard has been bad this yr. Maybe that wrist surgery is the cause. Or Devlin sucks.

Watt was essentially left singled up throughout the game. His first sack resulted from him only having to deal with an unexplainable simple chip block by the Olineman......leaving him with a straight shot to the QB. The 2nd was when he beat the RT and had a straight shot to the QB. Neither sack required resistant force or cutting ability on his part. The lack of such accounted for Watt essentially being a non factor in the rush defense......with only 2 tackles accumulated through the entire game.

This team reminds me of the 94 Oilers
I had to look that up. That team finished 2-14. They lost their first 3 games, beat the Bengals in week four and didn't win another game until the final weekend (Note: the Jets must have sucked back then too because that's the team they beat). Billy Joe Tolliver started 7 games. Bucky Richardson started 4, and Cody Carlson 5. Most of the talent was on the defense.

There are a lot of other free streaming sites than those 3 that Nielsen can't measure
