TEXANS ATTEMPTING A REBOUND AGAINST THE RAVENS IN WEEK 2

If we lose, I hope Watt, Watson and Tunsil have great audition..er..game tape.
Tunsil needs that badly.
Watt, he'd get enough interest at this current level of play. Too early to tell, of course, about his health.

Watson. He has a no trade clause.
Maybe when Brees retires after this current 2-yr contract, he might agree to go there, providing the Saints wants him.

They wanted Clowney enough trying to pull that deal so it's probable that Sean Payton and their FO get on the same train.

We all know that a re-tool, re-build, etc could only be given a go if Cal and Momma Janice agree that it would be in the best interest of the Texans. If they got onboard with this move:

1. They must hire Bill Polian to educate the McNair's. BP could also carry the axe and start swinging which allows the McNair's to enter the bunker and come back out when the smoke clears.

2. Elevate Romeo Crennel to interim HC to finish out the 2020 season. Maintain the current staff but they now know they're coaching for any chance at improving their resume before the new HC is announced. I'm sure more than enough of them would immediately be offered a new job with OB if he lands a new gig.....NFL or CFB.

3. Polian's biggest job would be to help the organization land a young GM with big upside. One of the biggest traits would be having a track record of successful talent evaluation. The candidate that comes to mind is Eliot Wolf, whom many NFL minds think will be the next up and coming GM sooner rather than later. I'm fairly certain if the Texans could land Eliot Wolf he could convince Alonzo Highsmith to come with him. Highsmith is also considered an above average talent evaluator. He might make the jump if Wolf offers him the Asst GM position and to be Director of Player Personnel.

This would be the best FO assembled by the Texans since the idea of bringing football back to Houston came to be. Polian is a savvy HoF GM whose experience would be there for Wolf to lean on when he needs feedback. Primarily, Polian is in the FO to teach Cal and Janice how successful organizations, who win SB's, hire smart football minds to run their team.

4. Wolf and Highsmith would have to evaluate the Texans team personnel and their impact on the cap. They have to know that no player is off-limits when it comes to their roster spot on the team.

5. McNair's want to make a positive out of a re-tool or re-build. Start by apologizing to the fans of Houston for the teams 17 years of mediocrity and let them know that the hiring of Polian and Wolf will initiate a revised approach to building the Texans organization into long term winners. Hail, it'd probably be wise to invite Jim Crane to join them during this announcement and to endorse the new direction. They could call this whatever they wanted. If presented properly the fans of the Houston Texans would get behind this approach and the steps needed to get them there.
I think you were doing okay until you mentioned the fans of the Texans would get behind that. I disagree most fans would not think first of the only trade bait we have is Watt, tunsil, and Watson. Many fans associate themselves to players not team, IMO.

Go Texans 1-2...Post OB!!!!!
AFC South Champions, Brian!

Yep, too much protein in those other turds so they sunk in the season....Texans had a little too much fiber so that turd floated to the top. Unfortunately, at seasons end, one of the sinking turds seen what the Texans had done and they switched diets just before the playoffs. OB and the Texans loaded up on protein while the WC team got the fiber. Yep, OB and the Texans just got flushed away with the other lowlying turds.

Like I stated....the new GM and Director of Player Personnel would be the ones evaluating the cost to returns for each player.

By the way, every Astros fan I met loved Lance Berkman....would you have kept him for a few more of the "almost" seasons or trade him for what would become the eventual winning World Series team?

Crane had a plan and he spelled it out for the fans. Some fans were really pissed, me, I saw the bigger picture and put my focus on following the MiLB system and knew what was coming. You think fans were still wanting for Berkman when the team hoisted that trophy? Crane's vision was to re-build the team from the ground up b/c what good is an organization that possesses zero foundation?

Dashaun should be willing to waive no trade for Dallas, Carolina and if momma allows it Jets.

You are looking back knowing a trophy came. Astro fans didn't know that and Crane was despised and by me also. Many hated losing Berkman.

This is another thing that bugs me about the Texans. I still believe in a strong running game to wear down defenses, control TOP and heavy play action passes. However, how can any team be a dominant running team when the majority of the runs are out of the shotgun? Give me more 2 TE sets and sprinkle in some offset I formations with play action passes.
That’s the thing some on here refuses to address. How can any quarterback be successful when pretty much everything on offense is too predictable. They say this offense suppose to attack the other teams weaknesses. I just don’t see it happening on a consistent basis. Example they exploited the heck out of the Falcons weak pass rush and weak ash secondary. But then they go run heavy on stout run stuffing defenses.

OB is so smart, he outwits himself.

I did think Eli was and the yr Flacco's Ravens won the SB I thought he was playing well enough to win a SB. When he won in Denver I was on board. Foles surprised me, I didn't think he had it in him to stand up toe to toe with Brady in a SB.
See, you're trying to wordplay again. When Eli and Flacco was drafted, did uou think either was a superbowl quality qb? Since you know one when you see one.

I thought Eli was and I always trusted Ozzie's evals.
What about Kyle Boller? Were you on this forum then? I don't remember anyone stating Eli was sb quality qb before his team went 9-7 and won the sb. Go look at his record. Before that season, there were talks of running him out of town

I did when he was drafted.

Why because he's a Manning. I know I was biased.

Yes Ozzie missed on Boller but Boller had talent. He just didn't have the mental makeup to be successful (Same as with DW4, no I'm not saying DW4's dumb.)

Anyways, I'm also biased towards Ozzie. Ozzie was a HOF GM as well as a HOF TE. One of the all time greats at both jobs.

I'm an Ozzie fan also, but when we witnessed Flacco being terrible in the playoffs multiple years before his hot streak and has done anything since, i doubt it, same with Eli. So tell me, of the qbs who were just drafted, are any sb worthy in your opinion?

Kyler Murray and Burrow/Herbert if they didn't play for such crappy orgs within the next 4-5 yrs. Murray/Burrow are special. I missed on Wentz who I thought was special.

So you don't think Watson is playing for a crappy organization? So basically, you can be talented enough to win a superbowl, but the organization does matter, correct?
Correct

The Texans dont have the track record of those orgs though.
