NFL Random Thought of the Day

Leonard Fournette has gone unclaimed on waivers...............no one wanted to pick up his $4 mil + contract. He is now a FA.

I'd sign him. Fournette and his agent know that 2020 isn't happening on nothing more than "prove it" veterans minimum deal with some bonuses and incentives built in. They'll get to choose from the teams making an offer but I'm fairly certain none of them will get into a bidding war for his services.

Derwin James needs surgery, which will keep him out 6-8 months

Chargers coach Anthony Lynn struck a somber tone when talking about Derwin James‘ right knee injury Monday morning. It foreshadowed Monday evening’s news.

James will miss the season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports.

The All-Pro will require surgery on his meniscus and the full repair will keep James out six to eight months, per Rapoport. The Chargers were hoping James could get by with a meniscus trim, which would have sidelined him four weeks or so. But James has not had much injury luck.

The new report says 6-8 months for return to play. This tells me that this is not only a meniscus repair which would only require ~3-4 months of rehab. With the new timeline, it seems apparent to me that James is going to be undergoing microfracture surgery, which would not be surprising with his history of knee damage.

As a sophomore at Florida State in 2016, James played only two games while dealing with a torn meniscus and cartilage damage in his knee.

Info you cant get anywhere else.

Thanks CnD.

Adrian Peterson looks like he will not make the Washington roster.

Strange, he looks to still have some juice left in him.

He still wants to continue playing, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Still, it was a surprising move considering Peterson had mostly worked all summer with the starters and they praised his power runs and leadership.
But, in Washington, Peterson emerged as the team's top runner with 1,042 yards and seven touchdowns.

Is he often injured?

Can’t imagine them boys on Kirby will look at him if he’s not.
Injuries don't account for this move. From everything I am hearing, through midway into TC, Clinton's performance was uncharacteristically poor. His reps have been redistributed to Darian Thompson. Something significant in his performance downturn has the Cowboys counting on Thompson and surprisingly Xavier Woods who has been dealing with a groin injury.

Knowing Jerry Jones who has been rumored to be in love with Earl Thomas over the past few years...........I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Thomas is offered Clinton's star.

It could be worthwhile............last year he graded out as the 2nd top-rated cover safety in the NFL. After such a performance, Clinton was not happy with the Cowboys' refusal to give him a long-term contract, which could explain at least in part recent happenings.

Texans DL reunion in Cincy...

Broncos trade Christian Covington to Bengals for Austin Calitro

Cowboys LB Sean Lee is going on IR for a sports hernia he suffered early in TC. CB Jourdan Lewis is going to follow him soon after suffering an ankle injury that has kept him from practicing during TC for the past 2 weeks. There are several other main characters that have not been practicing due to injuries.

It's interesting to note that Jerry Jones spear-headed the effort to make weed a non suspension incident and ever since has worked to reinstate Gregory. There is no mention of the fact that Gregory was addicted not only to weed, but also to narcotics, steroids and mind altering drugs. He has always been emotionally unstable with severe anger issues for which he tried to self-medicate. Though I wish I could believe that this time around will be different...........with his return to all the glitz and temptations of the NFL, color me skeptical.

The Dolphins are reportedly going to waive Josh Allen. I'm not sure that he's had the best coaching or supporting cast and opportunity to develop since being drafted.
Agree 100%. I have never focused on him in college or Pro however I just always felt that there was more there that could be developed. I don't know if he was the victim of circumstances or not. It will be interesting to see where he ends up next.

Too many joshes... Rosen. Rosen's being waived. I feel sorry for the kid.

Josh has career of carrying a clipboard and competing (not really) during the pre-season for a QB1 spot that’s not open ahead of him.

If Josh wants to save his career....he needs to head to the CFL or XFL where he could be a QB1. That’s his best chance at rebuilding his QB stock.

I think he would do well to latch on with ATL or Tampa Bay, there could be a potential for him to win that job within 2 years.

NFL Rumors: Buccaneers Sign Josh Rosen to Practice Squad

One year you are a top 10 NFL Draft pick, couple years later you are slinging passes for a teams practice squad.

Hail, he gets a 1 to 2 year apprenticeship under Tom Brady and the Bucs don't have to worry about using a RD1 pick on another QB to groom. This is a really good situation for Rosen since he only has Blaine Gabbert (QB2) and Ryan Griffin (QB3) ahead of him on the depth chart.
