RS was mediocre, which means you can easily do worse (which we are experiencing now).

The same goes for BOB the HC. He's mediocre at that job and we can easily do worse. The bigger problem is he's also the GM & "OC".
If the HC/GM are both Mediocre.

Then the Texans owner "Cal" should fire him but that has proven to be difficult since other team personnel can't seem to get Cal out of his office. Seems they keep hearing his lame arse talking into the fan and saying, "I'm your father Luke". Since he's locked his door, no one can either confirm nor deny that action figures are involved in his role playing behind closed doors.

In your opinion, what should the Texans do with the 2nd round pick they received from Arizona?

Replace Watson? Replace next year's 1st round pick? Shore up the pass rush? Get the BPA ?

I think it's going to suk not having a 1st this year. But I think LT is worth it. Not having a 1st & 2nd next year is going to be brutal. So I think we should replace next year's 1st.

How 'bout you?

This is a long term Outlook and what should be done. 40 for a 2020 3rd and a 2021 1st or even 2nd.

Which means this will never happen, because the Texans never think long term.

All these signings in FA have changed some teams original plans. I see in some Mocks where LT, defense and WR could be the big RD1 push. Me, I’m fine with since I’ve seen a few Mocks where C, Cesar Ruiz- Michigan could be there at 40. That could be huge.....especially if OG/C, Biadasz- Wisconsin is also on the board. The Texans need interior OL and if both were on the board in RD2 it would be hard to pass up.

I would've liked to keep Reader, but Cinci way overpaid for his services. The unfortunate part is that OB is passing out contracts to lesser players at other positions, thereby wrecking the cap.
These signings are front loaded. (2 yrs)

Overpaying is overpaying, regardless of which end it's loaded on.
Frontloaded means very little to no cap hit. (This matters.)

Of course that means the McNairs have to pay more $$$$ up front and that's the way the new NFL contracts are. As much crap as I talk about the McNair's being tightasse*s I think Cal understands the way the new NFL works. (This still doesn't mean he's going to really change the way his daddy did business)

I would love to have both of those guys round two; however I do not think O'Brien's going to give a second round pick for someone that he will use as a backup to Martin at center.

Front loading does NOT mean little to no cap hit. Front loading means the painful part of the contract is in the early years of the contract and that there's relatively little guaranteed money in the later years, making it easier to cut the player.

OB isn't going interior OL in the 2nd with the huge, gaping, self-inflicted hole at WR.

There are way too many threads about every transaction this off-season. Hard to keep up with every discussion. It would be nice if we could consolidate ALL Texans off-season moves into one thread for a more fluent discussion rather than starting a new thread for every thought, idea or transaction. Or at least properly title the new thread so we know what its about. Like this one called "More madness".... just title it something about DJ Reader so we can follow the topic based on the title.

WR's will be very deep in this draft.......Day 1 starting IOL, not so much. A top shelf OL can certainly help WR's look much better. I still want RB, AJ Dillon- Boston College before or in RD4. 2 stud OL and Dillon would really prop up this offense going forward.

This whole draft needs to be about drafting for the future...Watson will ditch if he's smart. Every draft from now on should be about trying to stockpile future picks to use on every position imaginable outside of kickers and punters.

Already have a QB? Doesn't matter...draft more.

Have some tanks on the line? Doesn't matter...draft more.

Have some 7 million dollar former Browns DB? Definitely draft more.

Stockpile picks.

Can OB do that? Doubtful...he's far too ******* stupid.

Did my Bengals overpay for Reader ?? Sure they did, but not by as much as one might think.
Even if it was a bunch, sometimes teams that have sucked (see my Bengals) have to overpay.
In looking at it though, there are 16 DT's who make more than 10 million per season, with Reader falling right in the middle of them.

When considering how bad our defense was, this was money well spent even it was more than the going price.
Regardless of the cost, putting Reader on that d-line will pay off for my Bengals.
The fact I have watched him play and liked him as a Texan only made me like the move more.

My son and I have been doing mock drafts picking for the Texans and Bengals respectively.
Good times and looking forward to seeing what our teams are going to be adding soon.

You and your families stay safe !!!

4 out of 5 division south titles. Very impressive. I must’ve missed the victory parades on Washington avenue Especially the latest one after blowing a 24 point lead and losing by 31 points in the end. I know fat Travolta isn’t getting fired especially he’s proven to be so adept at making great deals and getting excellent value in return for the players he’s trades.
All of this discontent is irrelevant. 50 years from now, someone looking at the history book, do you think all of the "fan" discontent will show up? What will be recorded for the ages is the win loss record.

What will be recorded is the fact that the Houston franchise was one of the more sucessful teams of this era, and yes, maybe one that didn't quite make it over the hump.

But the OB era is not over, so the final history is not written. Over the past 20 years I believe only two teams have more than one SB. So, over the next 5 years or so, he has to put together one outstanding season to seal his legacy. Of course this implies the team continues its winning sucess.

Depending on how the draft goes and the Texans big board, the #40 pick will be the receiver slotted to be Hopkins replacement.

BoB's illustrious regular season record is barely above .500
BoB's glorious post season record is 2-4
In 6 seasons you are refusing to see the real trend. This man cannot advance beyond the second round. His teams offensive output in the playoffs are some of the all-time worst. That is a FACT.
He had a golden opportunity to do it last season but settled for a FG rather than going for the kill shot then followed that weak decision by foolishly attempting a fake punt from his own 30 yard line which blew up in his face like a money shot.
Keep fluffing up your pom poms.

Even funnier is that those IMPRESSIVE division "championships" did not mean the Texans were the best team in the division. Since O'Brien has been here, the other three teams have made it to the AFC championship game, while the Texans not only lost by the 2nd round of the playoffs, but got their asses kicked in with historical records of choking!

The Pom-Pom Brigade (hello Texans marketing department!) seems to be quite selective about perceiving "history".

What is history but records?

Sure, the simps only look at wins and losses, but a deeper dive reveals the true story (as usual):

[And remember, there is a 100 years of NFL history.]

The Texans are the. . .

. . .First team to blow a 24 point lead in the playoffs and lose.

. . .First team to give up 7 TDs in a row without reciprocating in the playoffs.

. . .First team to give up three receiving touchdowns to one player in a single quarter in postseason history.

. . .First team to give up 4 TDs in 16 plays in postseason history.

. . .First team in NFL history, regular season or playoffs, to lead 24+ points in the first half and be tied or losing entering halftime.

. . .First NFL team to lose a playoff game by 20 or more points after leading by 20 or more points.

. . .First team in NFL history to give up 300+ pass yards, 5+ pass TD & 50+ rush yards by one player in a playoff game.

. . . First team in NFL history to lose while having a QB with more than 300 passing yards, producing three or more total touchdowns and not turning the ball over.

The above records are ONE GAME, the last one they played. I can find more HISTORY if we dig deeper into the O'Brien era.

But yeah, O'Brien is worthy of being a GM now, too!! DERP

It is obvious who is "clueless". So keep waving those pom poms and drinking that koolaide. Objective historical analysis is not for everyone.

Typically, I think that the division championships actually DO mean that the Texans were the best team in the division. They just happen to be a pretty sad excuse for a playoff team at the moment. Something that needs to be addressed.

Sure, but the defense giving up so much so fast changes the entire game plan. OB mad it much worse with his bone headed decisions, but the offense never really had a chance after the defense gave up 28 in 1 quarter
Could that also have happened because ST's failed, Carter's free TD and Reid's failure to geta 1st down on the fake punt?

It was a total team meltdown. That's the only way 51-7 can happen in 3 qtrs.

The same man who hired Crennel will be good at evaluating draft prospects and brokering trades that result in improving the team.

50 years from now history will show that trading Hopkins for a broken down expensive RB and a 2nd round pick was the right thing to do. these moves will instantly translate into improving the teams practice performance issues and good teammateificaciousness. Book it.

its almost like NoBrien was a secret cell implanted by Belichick to destroy the Texans from within! It’s really the only explanation for the brain numbingly dumb decisions he’s made thus far. Suddenly Watson is the Vegas odds leader to be a Patriot next year? Hmm. Belichick retires and then guess who gets to go there and coach?

Quarantine conspiracies are fun! It’s like arguing why a strong safety can’t break a tackle on a fake punt run play, but never criticizing the original call to begin with in a warped view of reality! Lol madness is right!!

So Obrien gets praised for singlehandly destroying this team and allowing other GMs to work him over like a two dollar watch your mouth. Too funny
Some of us believe the team hasn't been destroyed by the Nuk trade.

If they have been destroyed by losing any single player other than DW4 then there are far greater issues to discuss in regards to what's wrong with this team.
