"Bill OBrien Aint going nowhere!!!!" ... neither is Deshaun Watson LOL.

Curious postings.................from a poster who has lost no opportunity to bash O'Brien as a HC and GM that has absolutely no ability to evaluate talent. :chef:

After 3 days of China reporting 0 new cases and 0 new deaths, I guess they saw the world did not believe their numbers.............so today they apparently found it necessary to try to put something out there that they think is more believable.

39 new cases.............9 new cases..................still far from believable...............

Has anyone already posted the thought of OB tanking this year and trading Watson for a couple firsts. OB start rebuilding with a rookie QB and higher picks in 2021.
as we do not have a first or second round in 2021 tanking in 2020 would not be beneficial until round 3 switch would be counterproductive in my opinion. Any draft picks that we get would not have anything to do with our tanking. I have posted several scenario for months about trading Watson. Trading Watson doesn't necessarily result in poor season.

It's a pipe dream to believe BO'b can get a first, much less a couple of firsts for a player. I mean third time's a charm & all, but c'mon... we're talking about Bill.

Hoyer & a future 6th. I know he probably won't make it out of Patriots camp, but that seems to be BO'bs fetish.

He's dismantling this team so fast, it's almost seems intentional. He's lost so many valuable players, and received so ridiculously little for them .... and overpaid so dearly for cast offs. Chris Simms and Adam Schefter, (I believe), were discussing free agency moves, day before yesterday, and starting referring to the brainless blunders as (O'Briens) ! It's no wonder that we're the laughing stock of the league !

I have said this to other people, and will say it to you. We are not the laughing stock of the league. We heavily criticize our team, and the criticism is warranted. If you look at the league as a whole, there are other teams doing much worse things and in a much worse state than us. We are not the laughing stock of the league. We are doing a lot of questionable things, but so are other teams. I could name you several teams that are more of a disaster than us.

So the Texans aren’t THE laughingstock of the NFL, just A laughingstock. You keep downplaying people laughing now when talking about the Texans and I’ll keep pointing out the Texans are the only team in the AFC South to not play in an AFC South Championship game, ever. The AFC South hasn’t exactly been the model division of excellence and the Texans can no longer be considered a startup franchise.

Why does the term “laughingstock” bother you so much, anyway? I’ve never referred to them as such because until now I never believed the term to fit. But again, other than a small patch of fans in Houston, the decisions O’Brien has been making has produced laughter around the NFL. John Lopez claims (and I have no reason to doubt him) a group of NFC coaches “burst out in laughter” when hearing about the Hopkins trade. I don’t think they were laughing at the Cardinals.

TBH, it doesn’t matter to me if the Texans are a laughingstock. Because I know it’s not a reflection on me. It’s not a reflection really on the players. It’s a reflection on O’Brien and ownership. So I say let people laugh. Maybe a healthy dose of humility is just what the doctor ordered for those in power on Kirby. I don’t expect O’Brien to be fired. But maybe a big round of much warranted (IMHO) ridicule will make him think twice before he makes a knee-jerk trade. At least I hope it was in response to an emotional outburst. I’d hate to think the Texans FO and ownership didn’t actually think long and hard about trading Hopkins for DJ’s bloated contract and a 2nd. If they did the Texans will be THE laughingstock for perhaps many more years.

Of course there are teams worse off than the Texans. Teams would kill to get to the playoffs 4 out of 5 years. And there are bad deals made throughout the league, but no one does it with the consistency that OB does, as often as he does.

You can say you don’t mind having player X all you want, Duke Johnson for example, but giving up a 3rd for him was bat shit stupid.

The inability to ascertain value and constantly over- or undervalue talent will eventually cost you. Signing a backup CB to starter’s money. Never mind the elephant in the room things like JD and Nuk, the Duke, Murray, Mercilus, Nick Martin little things add up too.

As for the media, particularly national, I’ve never given 2 flying fucks what they think. But kind of strange that the antagonists, always taking the least popular side blow hards, are all on the same page with this OB BS. The Texans per se, might not be a laughing stock, but their FO certainly is.

I’m not disagreeing that we make horrible decisions. I’m aware we are in a bad state, make poor decisions and our future looks bad. The only thing I was commenting on is that we’re the laughing stock of the NFL. We could have given Jimmy Graham a huge contract and given a 4th rounder for Nick Foles.

Winning cures all and putting the Nuk trade aside,

This has been a bad off-season so far.

True and even you have to admit there's a chance the team could be better off after the trade. If DJ returns to form and they hit on pick #40. That's unlikely to happen but it's what all Texans fans should be hoping for. Unfortunately there's a significant portion of fans on this MB that hope the trade fails miserably. (That's sad)

I happen to think DJ will be serviceable this year and we WILL hit on the #40.

A fan should be this but yet you're still dumping on Watson every chance you get. Some people are off the chains.
I think we, and our posts here, are all subject to our own internal belief system. Nothing others say can sway how we see and feel about certain players. Steel is cemented into his position on Watson, as others who have debated him are cemented in their own. No one is wrong really. Watson's full story is yet to be written.

I for one, think Watson has the tools to win it all. However I do not think he can do it alone and will need a staff and supporting role players to make it happen.

You are indeed correct. My thing is how can you be so optimistic about a player who hasn't produced in three years. But so down on a player who has produced in the past 3 years. It just doesn't make any logical sense whatsoever.

Agreed he can not do it alone. The entire unit needs to up their games up.

Of course there's a chance. I even give it a decent chance, as I suspect natural progression amongst the OL, QB & TEs. But even if DJ goes off for 2000 all-purpose yards, and the offense finally finishes top-10 in offensive DVOA, I already and will still consider the trade a "fail". We did not get proper value.

BTW, who's hoping the trade fails miserably? I haven't been seeing anyone hoping this happens?

He's thinking that because quite a few of us are not excited or happy about that trade.

O'Brien certainly does act like a sabotager, but where are the McNairs, this is the overriding question ?

Were you laughing when you made this post? You're already on record that neither O'Brien or Watson will win a championship with the Texans. Is that you being optimistic?

SteelB always promoting the high road and optimistic path after blowing up said road and path. Too funny.

2000 all-purpose yards & a 2nd round pick is not proper value? If DJ gets 2000 all-purpose yards, then he is a player on par with Hopkins.

At the time of the trade there was very little reason to believe he was that guy. But if he is... trade ain't bad at all.

I personally don't judge trades or draft picks based on their future success. No one can predict the future. I base it off their current value.

For example, if someone picked Tom Brady with the #1 overall pick in 2000, I would and still consider that a bad pick... because he was valued to go much lower and could have been had for in the 5th.

So if BO'b makes a trade that makes his team better (he ain't never had a top 10 DVOA offense) the trade was a fail, even though that is the very reason he made the trade... to make the team better.

Sorry, that's just hate. & I know hate. I hate BO'b. I'm just saying. If this bumbling clown is right about moving Hop & bringing in DJ... then we, me just as much as anyone else, have to admit we don't know what we don't know.

Prior to the Nuk trade, I did not hate BOB. But I admit, after that trade, I hate him. It was such an idiotic trade, not to mention Nuk being an iconic figure in Houston.

Now besides that hate, I don't hope he crashes and burns. I still hope he succeeds, because that success means the Texans are succeeding. I put that above everything else.

I believe this was, and will always be, a bad trade because we should have been able to get more. I'm all for acquiring DJ. And as much as it would pain me, I'd be ok with trading away Nuk... but the deal has to be fair or to our advantage. That's the bottom line.
