FIRE O'BRIEN NOW!!!

To clarify he needs to apologize for his demeanor and treatment towards his players, not to mention his overall buffoonery and obsession with consolidation of power that has and will continue to drive this franchise into the ground. Not to mention what appears to be soft racism or complete lack of both self and cultural awareness.

BOB’s apology and firing/ resignation should be swiftly followed by Cal McNair kissing our collective asses for orchestrating the last couple of years of this mess and his utter lack of interest in owning a franchise that should be the pride of the city but is instead barreling towards laughing stock of the NFL. The “arrow” for this franchise is pointing towards the ground with Cal McNair square in the crosshairs of liability.

You can't reference one thing about race in any of that. Are we going to do this now any time a black player or coach is upset with an organization? We are just going to manifest racism on everything now? I figured that Miles Garrett embarrassed himself enough, but apparently that kind of illness spreads like wildfires. The only apology that is owed is from Hopkins for leaking out a bunch of one sided crap through Irvin which was unprofessional as hell on his part. He wanted to be traded and was demanding it, and he got what he wanted.

Great post

This is the bottom line.

You know, the thought just came to mind, when it comes to coaching, of hockey coach Herb Brooks as played by Kurt Russell in the movie Mircle.

Early in the movie, when Brooks is being a real hard ass on his players, his assistant makes a comment to the team doctor, " He's going to end up with 20 players who hate his guts".

I believe it was earlier in the movie, just after the final selections had been made, Brooks tells the players, "I'll be your coach, I won't be your friend. If you want one of those, take it up with Doc or Coach Patrick."

O'Brien puts me in mind of this hard ass coaching style.

Which is a good thing. IMHO

Here's my predicament, and I'm sure there's many others out there in a similar situation:

I'm a season ticket holder since the very beginning. Tens of thousands of dollars invested in tickets alone over the years, and more in merchandise. I can't boycott to show my frustration and displeasure because there's a waiting list of thousands of other Houstonians who would love to weather this storm until BoB is fired or removed. No matter how frustrated we are, there's literally no way to collectively band together to the degree necessary to really make the Texans front office feel the financial pain.

The only thing we can do now is accept that we are the biggest embarrassment of a franchise in the NFL, which is saying a lot considering some of the other dumpster fires out there.
Go to the games and boo. Get everyone to boo. Hold up signs that say fire OB. Make your disgust known.

Look at the Texans onfield results. As Herb Brooks said in the movie, "I don't want the best players. I want the right players".
Infield results? You mean like when we look completely unprepared? Like when we blow big leads? Like when we play down to our competition? Ok done it doesn’t work! BOB is a POS. He doesn’t deserve the head coaching job much less the powers he now owns. He’s turning this team into a national joke. He can get whatever players he wants and that isn’t going to change the fact that he doesn’t have a play for 4th and one. It isn’t going to change his bottom of the league poor clock management. It isn’t going to improve his inability to make adjustments in game.

It’s time for a revolt. We all need to stand up and flood social media with every negative meme we can find. We need to stop going to the games. We need to boo loudly if we do go to a game. We need to Shame and embarrass this joke of an owner into doing something.

Your rant is a reflection of your own personal animosity, which is fine. But it is not a reflection of the sucess the Texans organization actually are, as reflected in the fact they have won their division 4 out of the past 5 years.

If this is a joke to the rest of the league, do you not think all the losing organizations would like to join the Texans?

"Doesn't matter, Brian. Division champs, Brian."

What a joke. Take a look back at our division competition during those years then take a look at the playoff competition. The goal of this team must be higher than winning a shitty division 4 out of 5 years then being summarily stomped in the playoffs when facing a real team.

But hey, it's this line of thinking that continues to line the McNair family pockets with your money. As long as that continues the Texans will be nothing more than mediocre - a true result of their LIMITED on field success.

He has to be employed by the Texans. That’s why he’s to optimistic about this team right now. Right players, man I laughed my butt off when he said that.

BOB reminds me of the coach they made that movie about that had a fairly talented team but he was incapable of getting along with anyone so he ran off the GM's that gave him that talent and the #'s guy that made sure they could keep that talent and then got rid of the talent itself getting nothing in return because of false urgency which was really only the urgency of getting rid of people quickly that this coach couldn't stand because of his prickly nature. Can't remember the name of the movie -- I only remember that it sucked.

Yet the coach still wins between 9-11 games every yr and division titles. Even after the GM that sucked at his job is long gone.

All parts played by Bill O’Brien

And this regime went 4-12. I guess you forgot about that season huh.
The same HC that survived the 4-12 has since:

Maneuvered to get that GM fired
Hand picked the next GM
Had that GM fired
Became anointed both GM & HC

We may not be impressed by O'Brien's abilities as a Head Coach or his acumen as a General Manager for an NFL franchise. But as a manipulator? This guy is world class.

Agreed,

Or you can look at this as the people who positioned the franchise where they currently are have been fired by Cal.

Don't forget two embarrassing home playoff losses. I think the last led directly to the GM designation.

O’Brien logged one of the worst trades in recent NFL history this past week, dealing DeAndre Hopkins to the Cardinals for David Johnson and a handful of non-first-round picks. His potential reasons for doing so, while downplayed by Hopkins, were also possibly aired by Michael Irvin. This was made worse by the fact that the Vikings got a better return for Stefon Diggs.
Fellow Belichick understudy Matt Patricia also struggled this week, getting crushed by Darius Slay on Slay’s way out of town (Slay was not the only one who decided to speak up either).

It is moments like these where I’m amazed that people continue to talk about the creation of a culture without any idea what that means. There are coaches who can go places and create a winning atmosphere out of the existing talent (i.e. good coaches). Then there are coaches who go places and gut the roster, acquiring people who are just like them.

I prefer the no one player is above the team and if paying 20 mil on a long term contract hurts the team long term then trade the player and try to improve the team while you can.

Of course this doesn't apply in this case because I would've held onto Nuk until I could've gotten a better deal or made him play under his existing contract, holdout or do whatever you gotta do but I'm not trading you for peanuts.

If he's bad in the lockeroom I run him on alot of shallow crosses next yr and make him earn that existing contract. But hey, that's just me.

That’s the way it should be. What you don’t do is not get adequate return.

I remember having a conversation here about whether we were a “national” laughing stock. Well that has been laid to rest.

No doubt they didn't get adequate return. I wouldn't have felt this way if they would've kept their 2020 4th and got the Cards 2021 4th. Unfortunately Nuk isn't worth what WE think he is to other NFL GM's while Nuk wants a new contract. But hey, Nuk wanted out because he wanted a new contract and BOB granted him his wish. It is what it is and life goes on. Losing Nuk isn't the end of the world and if they can lose AJ and not fall apart then I'm confident things will be the same with Nuk.

I expect Cobb to be a massive upgrade in the slot and the WR production to be spread around something like WFV 60 catches/Cobb 60 catches/Stills 50 catches/Rookie WR 35-45 catches/TE 50 catches/RB's 70 catches and the offense will look much different under Kelly, the wealth will be more spread around and less predictable. Maybe that's looking at things with rose colored glasses but hey, I'm a Houston Texans fan.

I dont put much stock in what the media thinks or says.

I remember a conversation about trying to get a substantial haul for Jadaveon Clowney a year before we traded him. Maybe they were asking too much, I don't know. Then Seattle gets a 1st & future 2nd for Clark.

Then at the last minute we get a third from Seattle.

So now rumor is Hopkins was on the block since the combine. New England was involved, Eagles were in discussions, so were Bengals, maybe Bills.

No doubt he should have got more. But imagine he waited until the last minute.

Gaftop was they gut who was on the trade Clowney a yr early train. I thought he was crazy, turns out he was right.

BOB didn't wait until the last minute to trade Nuk. Right before the draft or even the season starts would've been the last minute.

What really hurt BOB's leverage is that this is an outstanding WR draft class.

Deal was being discussed as the Texans 2nd and 6th rounders this year and the Arizona 4th next season for Slay. The Texans were yet again prepared to do the trade without an extension in place for Slay.
It's so obvious at this point. O'Brien hates rookies. The problem is that Cal hates giving big contracts. So, no young talent on rookie deals. Top vets not getting paid. Mediocre (at best) FAs getting over priced mid sized deals.

Can't run a franchise like this. All dissenters have been culled from the organization, and all that's left is groupthink and yes men. The question wasn't whether or not to chunk more draft picks on vets with expiring contracts. It's that they were concerned about the backlash. This franchise is a vicious downward spiral. This time next year, Miami will be scouting players to take with the Texans top 10 pick, and Watson will be going into the final year of his rookie deal. The Texans haven't hit rock bottom. But they can see it from where they are.

Sad isn't it, add Slay and pick #40 edge (Say Gross Matos) and this defense looks alot better. Cal not wanting to pay guys like Slay tells you he could care less about winning.

I don't guess anyone is watching the replay of the Texans - Bills game on ESPN right now. It was 16 to zip in the middle of the 4th quarter, and we had zip .... and guess who physically hoisted the team upon their shoulders .... Watson of course, Hopkins and Hyde !! If you've got this on tape, watch it .... what a rush !! What a shame to dismantle a team like that !

They replayed our week 1 game against the Saints. I forgot how awesome our last scoring drive was. 2 plays. Two step up in the pocket pressure in his face dimes. 75 yards & a TD. Cold blooded black mamba sht.

well I don’t know who “we” is but I haven’t seen anyone that thinks he wasn’t worth more than what we got. The trade wouldn’t even work in madden. You’ll never convince me we weren’t able to get more than what we got. NEVER! And Andrea was at the end of his career and wouldn’t accept it. Hopkins was the only legit 1000 yard receiver we had. only One player over 600 (fuller) who can’t stay healthy, one over 500 (stills) and two barely over 400. One of those a RB. Hyde is gone only player who rushed for more than 413 yards. That 413 was our QB.

this offense is getting a new untested play caller undoubtedly on a short leash that Has lost its two most important weapons from last year. Really the only two reliable weapons and somehow The entire draft needs to focus on defense According to most Opinions I’ve come across. Some say maybe draft a WR second or third. we better have the best draft EVER!

on the darker side of things while creating all these holes by acquiring insufficient returns our fantastic GM has brought in the cream of the crap of free agency. I can’t see where this doesn’t fall apart. every time I see someone looking at this mess and acting like there’s still hope I’m feel like I’m watching this

Difference is Diggs wasn't looking for a new contract.

If Nuk/DW4 were such tight buddies why did Nuk try to sabotage DW4's chances of winning a championship on his way out the door?

After all BOB did him a favor (Taking pennies on the dollar) to trade Nuk to a team that would redo his contract.

We are posters on this MB

Other GM's, for instance the ones who were supposedly interested in Nuk. Eagles/Pats/Bengals/Cards. Supposedly the Cards gave the best offer.

You can believe this or not but it is what it is. Also if this is the best they could do they should've held onto Nuk. IMHO So I get what you're saying. However WE dont know hat was going on behind the scenes that could've forced BOB to trade Nuk.
