What If Cal McNair Wants Crennell Dumped?

OK, I’ll buy that. But I have to question if that makes it likely he’s just as uncomfortable in making any type of decision. Or, if he’s afraid that any decision he makes would force him to the microphone.

Just wondering that out loud in case someone wants to bat it around.
I do not know CAL but have met many men and women who lead companies and make decisions daily but are terrified of speaking in front of others. I have no doubts CAL can make decisions if and when he thinks one should be made. He might choose to allow someone else to be front but if he decides to fire BOB, force a hire of OC or trade Watson..it will be done.

Thanks for the response. I know this is possibly thread derailing, but I find even even the slightest notion of trading Watson to be the most asinine, idiotic, outrageously stupid thing ever mentioned in this place, unless it’s just someone's idea of a sick joke.

And I think it would be totally irresponsible to not explore all options to make team better.

No
Goony Goo Goo

only thing cal mcnair is thinking about dumping is last nights dinner of chicken nuggies with honey mussey and a capri sun. he's like billy madison without the humor.

John McClain on SR610 says that he thinks that Romeo Crennel will most likely retire. Additionally, when asked who he thinks might replace him, he put forth our current d-line coach, Anthony Weaver. To be clear, this was his personal opinion, not based on anything specific that he’s heard lately.
I dunno would Cush then become the D-line/LB coach with Weaver's promo ?

And the price for Watson, a young high performing QB, should so high that no other organization would realistically pay...
If Houston is willing to pay $35 million + for "franchise" Watson why would not other teams? Each season we see teams make huge offers for QBs not established as "top 5..franchise." If he is that why wouldn't teams pay?

Because it is bunches of picks/players and up to 40 million per. The cash is just going rate for QBs who don't suck.

The going rate for an OK OLT was two 1sts and change plus a new contract at some point
The going rate for a really good CB was two 1sts and change plus a new contract at some point
the going rate for an above-average young QB is more than those combined at least (we don't know because good QBs are NEVER TRADED)

It would be classy of Crennel to retire. His unit has been as bad as OB's. The injury bug hit hard, but I'm tired of 10 yd cushions on 3 & 3.
It sure would be nice if Kyle Shannahan or Mike Vrabel were the HC and picking a replacement. I can see OB trading a 2022 1st round pick to Seattle for Brian Schottenheimer to be DC. Yes, I think that poorly of OB as a football coach, regardless of level.

Of course, BOB is an idiot and anyone he hires or promotes is unworthy and incompetent. And every thread eventually becomes an "I hate BOB this much" thread. I really have grown tired of it. I would like to talk some football instead of rehash the same regurgitated garbage.
The fans on this MB tend to be smart football fans. They know where the problem lies, for the most part. I have to agree with SBT on his criticism of ownership. I don't agree with his opinion that they only care about profits and not about winning. I agree with him about them not knowing how to hire competent NFL people and not firing the responsible party in a timely fashion.
Pick a method. HC chooses GM and HC is responsible for draft, salary cap, FA and roster or GM hires HC and is responsible for the same. This boardroom by committee **** needs to end. I won't monetarily support the NFL or Texans again until they do.

Good, hopefully OB is next.

Who am I kidding, OB is going to fire Cal next.
I bet the vegas odds are higher that happens before OB is fired

I can see it now:
Cal- OB, we... we need to talk
OB- Cal, first let me say, YOU'RE FIRED!
Cal- Okay, let me get my stuff. It was a pleasure working for you and I thank you for the opportunity sir.
