I like Conley.

I’d trade him for Clowney in a heartbeat.
The question should be do you like Mercilus/Conley at their salaries/production vs Clowney at his salary/future salary and production?

The difference is in how you feel about roster building. I like what they've done so far this yr. I can certainly understand why you feel the way you do about how the Clowney situation went down.

The Texans work out RBs Jeremy Hill and Elijah McGuire today.............both went well.............but neither were signed.
Good to know that they're looking at RB's. They're 1 injury away from needing a guy to contribute immediately. I really like McGuire, Hill is a solid pro RB if he bounces back from his ACL.

You mean posters like yourself? It was just two weeks ago after the Raiders game you were saying we'll never win a championship with Watson, and if you had a choice, you'd get rid of BOTH O'Brien and Watson and start fresh.

I would do this. I'm still on the record, because I think they're a bad match, although BOB has changed the offense to fit Watson's skillset, so I guess there's hope.

I still have doubts Watson can put together 3 great games in a row to get the team to a SB. The next 3 games for Watson is a good test against playoff teams and should be a good for him to get ready for the playoffs.

I still think his style of play and past injury history should make everybody question if he can stay healthy enough to lead this team to a SB. He has the talent to do it he just has to prove it, which is why the Jesusincleats guys are way to premature. IMHO

So on one side, you think Watson & BOB are a bad match and we should just get rid of them both and start fresh.
Then on the other side, you also think this team will be a true SB contender starting next season.

I like how you've covered the whole spectrum so that no matter what happens, you can pat yourself on the back as being right. Good job!

Nope, I do think they're a bad match, I still think they will be contenders. I just have to see Watson stay healthy and perform at a high level in the playoffs and BOB let Watson run the Clemson offense.

I'm not saying they cant do it but I'm in prove it mode.

Texans have 5th "HARDEST" remaining schedule in the nfl: https://www.pff.com/news/the-nfls-easiest-and-most-difficult-remaining-schedules

Houston Texans
Week 11’s marquee matchup pits two of the NFL’s most valuable players against each other when the Texans travel to Baltimore to face Lamar Jackson and the fourth-ranked Ravens. This week begins a stretch that will go a long way in determining if the Texans are serious Super Bowl contenders. After Baltimore, the Texans face the division rival Colts followed by a trip to New England on Sunday night in Week 13.

These next three games set up well for us: Bye week to prepare for the Ravens; Thursday night game vs Indy @ home which is a significant advantage in 4-day week; mini-bye/9-day week @ home again to prepare & play the Pats.

You are about "cost" all of a sudden?

I'd prefer to have both TBH, it's not a one or the other decision.

I'm also tempering my excitement over Conley for now. It was against the Jags w/o Lee and Westbrook. Need to see more of him before claiming him a good acquisition.
if I remember correctly it was also a game without Johnathan Joseph for the most part, Roby and Lonnie Johnson. After the bye week to educate him on the Playbook I hope to see an even better Conley

I can't remember who it was, but I remember one of our "respected" posters was saying we would envy the Browns this season.

Who would have said such nonsense?
I said it would be very interesting to see how they do. I didn't expect Baker to regress. Also their HC is in over his head. Who would have guessed. I predicted 10 wins.

Sometimes you guess wrong

None of our guys would try to bash a player in the head with his own helmet.
Well, not since Antonio.

The HC is Rex Ryan, Jim Tomasulo reincarnated. He's horrible. He was hired because he was buddies with Mayfield. Mayfield is overrated, just a name.

weird application of information theory. kinda like saying there arent any starting 3rd round CBs.

It’s as crazy as the guy who makes it seem there are an abundance of 3rd round cornerbacks that were starting their rookie year when there is a 94% chance they don’t.
why go using words like "abundant" to make your case? Did I ever insinuate that? Nope. Just proved that the statement "no 3rd round CBs start in the NFL" was false (both as veteran and rookie). And maybe JUST MAYBE - dont let me tell you how to work up your metric sheet, you should instead of grouping ALL the draft picks in a sample category, might be more useful to take the CBs drafted in the 3rd round and then work up your percentages off those . Might raise your eyebrows a bit, but again I really dont care that much. I got what I wanted out of the exercise - you guys can keep slacking each other up with false narratives Its fun to shoot them down its not as stochastic as you make it seem.

edit: you got my OCD acting up. EXAMPLE= take the 32 picks in any 3rd round, then isolate the CBs from that player pool, AND THEN do the math for the amount of starters among that data set and you should have a more accurate representation of the 3rd round ROOKIE starters in any given year. I did the 2017 draft and came up with a 60% rookie starting figure among the CBs that year. Obviously that number will be different every single year, and I may be giving myself some 'extra credit' by using a fairly high 'games played' season to make my case in 2017, but the point remains ... you are dilluting the player field by incorporating EVERY POSITIONAL PLAYER into the equation ... we are talking about ONLY 3rd round rookie CBs to start games in the NFL.

I'll tell you what, since I've captured your attention, I'll make this next claim after doing this legwork .. and you try to dispel it.

"THE MAJORITY OF ALL STARTING NFL CBs WERE EITHER DRAFTED IN THE 3rd ROUND OR LATER, OR NOT DRAFTED AT ALL"

Have fun.

I guess you dont know the meaning of the word context.

I'm also guessing that you want Conley to fail because you being right is much more important to you than the Texans succeeding. I guess you're through in the bathroom. How were those Watson highlights, relieving?

The Marine
Watching that video, I see
  • A slow developing play that requires the OL to hold their blocks to allow the routes to develop.
  • A QB with 4 reads. Not 1 or 2.
  • A QB reading the safeties pre and post snap
  • Nothing resembling the Clemson offense

Lol are you trying to poke the stuffing out of that bear? ( Disclaimer: im.not calling anyone out of their name).

Karan Higdon is still on the PS.....if there's a need for another RB why haven't they promoted him? Just curious.
He must not be ready or maybe good enough to be promoted. I think they're looking for vets that they know are good in pass pro and you dont have to worry about rookie mistakes in the playoffs if somebody gets hurt.

Working out players isn't necessarily about filling needs. It's more about staying current with available talent. I mean we have RBs active on game day that don't see the field. We're not in need of another RB
