2024 / Rebuilding Block 4 After Playoffs / Texans
Former Texans QB's met as starters in a game between Miami and Indy.....best turd floated to the top. 1- TD and 4- INT between them......aaahhhhh, just like old times only they're no longer wearing Texans jersey's.

The ex-Lions WR Charles Rogers (the WR who our Texans chose Andre Johnson over in the Draft) has died at age 38. Rogers had a severe Vicodin and alcohol addiction which wrecked his career. The cause of his death so far has not been revealed, but is likely substance abuse related. He leaves behind 8 children. His whole story is tragic. Prayers to the family.

Sad, tragic news about young Mr Rogers.
I dunno just how close were we to taking Rogers in that Draft instead of Andre back then ?
In other words would we have taken him if the Lions drafting jsut before us would have taken Andre instead of Rogers, the hometown product from Michigan.
It would be interesting to hear Charly Cassserly make some comments about that topic ?

As much as we **** on OB, thank the heavens we never entertained Adam Gase. It seems like every QB he has touched does better when he is gone.

Here is Tannehill. Not throwing. But cool highlight.

On the radio this morning they said he had been battling Cancer, so maybe the substance abuse didn’t get him. Or maybe it caused the cancer

Substance abuse, especially alcohol, is associated with many cancers...........alcohol breaks down to acetaldehyde, which is a toxic chemical that is known to damage DNA, a common mechanism for cells turning cancerous..............liver cancer high on the list. One source I've spoken to told me that Rogers was recently given this diagnosis. Rogers actual cause of death was not the cancer, but total liver shutdown/failure after waiting for a liver transplant. If the cancer invaded a major liver blood vessel or spread out side the liver, liver transplant would have been abandoned, a likely reason his liver transplant was never performed.

NFL, not Colin Kaepernick, arranged Saturday workout
November 12, 2019, 8:18 PM EST

The Colin Kaepernick workout was news to plenty of people. Including Colin Kaepernick.

PFT has confirmed that Kaepernick didn’t even know about the workout until it was scheduled. Kaepernick’s representatives initially expressed concern that it was or could be a P.R. stunt. Confusion also was expressed regarding the league’s reason(s) for setting up the workout, especially since the league previously has taken the position that it does not get involved in the potential employment of specific players.

The league wouldn’t disclose to Kaepernick the motivation for getting involved in the process, and the league wouldn’t budge on its position that the workout will happen this Saturday — rejecting a request to delay the workout to a Tuesday or to a later Saturday, so that interested teams would have more of a chance to make appropriate plans.

From Kaepernick’s perspective, it’s far more preferable for a workout to happen with coaches and General Managers present, so that they can put him through the paces and directly observe his abilities. The league’s willingness to record the workout and send it to interested teams means nothing; Kaepernick could do that himself.

the cynical part of me thinks the league is doing some sort of pre-emptive thing to head off another Kaepernick grievance.
the logic part of me can't come up with anything

Crap!

I thought alcohol only killed brain cells. I was going for “ignorance is bliss.”

It causes cancer? Now I have to rethink my decisions...

Here's one for you boys and girls to chew on...
PFF just posted their highest rated player on each team....
LINK

for the Texans....
DI D.J. READER, HOUSTON TEXANS – 90.2
Reader is on his way to a career year in Houston. While other big names rank ahead of him in overall grade (e.g. Donald, Campbell, Jarrett), Reader has still earned a 90.2 overall grade and a 90.3 run-defense grade in Weeks 1-10. He’s been an anchor in the middle of the Texans’ defense on early downs.

only three QBs on this list, Russell Wilson, Lamar Jackson, Matthew Stafford. No Brady, no A-Rod, no other QBs.

Oh and if some of you didn't need another burr under your saddle, remember this guy...?
Not only does he lead his team in overall grade, but he also leads all NFL offensive linemen with at least 200 offensive snaps played in overall grade (93.4) and run-blocking grade (91.4). Only Raiders center Rodney Hudson has a higher pass-blocking efficiency than Brooks (99.4). Now the NFL’s highest-paid guard, Brooks has allowed just four total pressures across 335 pass-blocking snaps in 2019

From October 6th. Seems like players in NFL may agree on 17 games rather than 18 but players want increase part of the pie. No acrimony compared to 2011 negotiation. Also new stadium in California is a sticking point.

1:45 in the video Rudolph tried to rip off Garrett's helmet first. Not saying it excuses Garrett's response, but Rudolph should probably rethink that approach to dealing w/ DLinemen hitting him in a way he doesn't like.

And? I see people all over social media making the point that Rudolph started it, and it doesn’t matter. Ripping someone’s helmet off and actually trying to crush a human skull with it are 2 different things. Helmets get ripped off all the time. Trying to kill someone with it, not so much. Unless Garrett or his family’s lives were threatened, I don’t give a damn who or what started it.

Sometimes it's a mistake to poke the bear.

I would give Garrett 1 game, how come nobody is calling out Rudolph's actions. Suspend him a game too. This was nothing more than a fight between players and Rudolph got his butt kicked. It's not really a big deal to me, but I'm sure it will be in God'ells NFL.

How awesome was Pouncey going in for his qb though..
On one hand I loved it, but the league almost has to suspend him as well.

My guess is 4+ games for Garrett, one for Pouncey.

I agree Rudolph had no business going after Garrett, but mistake or not, you just can't use that helmet as a weapon. It's way over the line. So is Pouncey kicking Garrett on the ground.

LOL yea but it was Richie Incognito! They went easy on Smith
I love me some Incognito, there was definitely a double standard.

BTW, Incognito is playing very well for a much improved Raiders team. Imagine if AB wasn't such a nut case, the Raiders could've made a playoff run. Also Trent Brown has played well for them this yr. I guess an OL matters.

Fans need to go back and check out some old 70's Raiders vs Steelers games. Poor Lynn Swann

Incognito would've fit in well with that group.

It doesn't matter to you that Rudolph provoked him but it does to me and those people all over social media apparently. There's a huge difference between deciding that you're going to rip a guys helmet off because you're an unprovoked maniac and ripping a guys helmet off because he tried to rip yours off first. Premeditated crimes are punished differently than crimes of passion because one is worse than the other. But yeah, already said that Garret isn't excused from this -- just brought up a talking point to better understand what happened. And no, guys don't get their helmets intentionally ripped off after a play is over by players from the opposing team all the time.

edit: looks like it matters to a lot of people. lead story on yahoo at the moment: https://www.yahoo.com/sports/some-believe-mason-rudolph-hit-in-head-with-his-own-helmet-isnt-getting-enough-blame-141912830.html

I'd give Garrett 6 games and declare him ineligible for the postseason should they make it. Basically he's done for 2019.

And I'd merely fine Pouncey. To which Jimmy Haslam can/should pick up the tab.

More than 24 teams reportedly will attend the Colin Kaepernick workout
November 15, 2019, 5:58 PM EST

The behind-the-scenes arm twisting apparently is working.

A day after only 11 teams were scheduled to attend Saturday’s Colin Kaepernick dog-and-pony show about nothing in Atlanta, the number has now spiked to more than 24, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.

The number of teams attending doesn’t really matter. What matters is the job title and influence of the people who will be attending. Low-level scouts have little or no sway; it’s just part of the façade. A façade that has a purpose other than actually getting Kaepernick employed.

Again, if the goal were to get Kaepernick employed, the phone calls and other communications that persuaded more than 13 teams in 24 hours to send someone to the Kaepernick workout (even though they could have worked him out at any time in the past 32-plus months but haven’t) would have focused on getting someone to give him a legitimate workout at a team facility, or to offer him a contract.

It will be very interesting to see what happens next. Chances are that it will be nothing, barring another rash of quarterback injuries like the one that happened earlier this year — and that still didn’t result in Kaepernick’s phone ringing once.

If the Texans sign Kaep my Sundays will become more open. That may be a good thing.

He should have been suspended for at least a game.

But the Steelers are a favorite franchise of God'ells They are one of the franchises that helped God'ell get his job.

BTw, I've been very critical of Tomlin in the past. But he's done one of his best coaching jobs this year.
