Game 7...Saddle Up Them Ponies...Indianapolis Colts!

Nobody gives a crap about the AFCSouth. Everyone will believe the Patriots will represent the AFC in the Super Bowl unless Mahomes gets back quick & healthy.
Honestly I hope somebody stops the Pat's. Whether it be the texans, ravens, colts, or bills. Somebody in the AFC needs to beat them.

Well the colts haven't been pushing the ball down the field much this year. Hilton has been used more in the short routes and has more redzone tds than he normally would as a result.
I think that from past history, the Texans are probably more concerned about the huge chunks of yds he's repeatedly killed us with getting the Colts into the RZ, rather than TDs he would generate from the RZ.

feelin pretty good cus J joe isn't covering TY …. we have a lot of young DBs so at maybe we will see something different ..???

but umm who was covering TY in the playoff game last year …????? I forget

I have to disagree. The texans may win, but it should not be handily. The colts also play as a team and are more than just mack and hilton. I'll agree with ebron not being much a threat with his brick hands lol.
Doyle, hines, mo Ali cox, Pascal, wilkins, and Roger's are all capable of catching with hilton being doubled. Also this is probably the game Watson's other former wr Deon Cain breaks out.
Colts offensive line has played at a high level as well and will continue to dominate. Also Watson should not have all day to throw with Leonard, houston and autry attacking the weak side of your line.
Combine that with the fact the colts have had two weeks to come up with a plan and I'd expect a close competitive game that could come down to the wire like last years early contest.
The winner of the early match up probably wins the division and has a shot at the number 2 seed, however I expect both teams to reach the playoffs.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
Here's the thing. With the Colts 27th ranked passing game, that means the Colts have to rely heavily on the run. Now Mack is a very good back and Brissett can take off with the ball and run with it as well, but going against the 8th ranked run defense of the Texans, Mack and Brissett will more often then not get stuffed for short yards, no gain or loss of yards. That's not going to faire well for the Colts. You can't have a one dimensional attack, as we Texans fans know all too well, and expect to be successful. Especially since the opposing defense knows and will key in to stop or slow down the one strength of your offense. If the Colts all of a sudden can't run effectively, then they have to pass. Brissett had better improve his passing dramatically from having the 27th ranked passing game to even have a chance.
Now on defense, Houston, Leonard and Autry will have to contend with a dangerously balanced attack of run and pass that is designed to keep defenses off balance. The last few weeks, the Texans offensive line haven't given defenses even an inch. Tunsil has solidified this group and turned them into one of the best in the league. So not so worried about those 3 actually. Watson, Hyde, Johnson, Fells and Akins will be able to work around them with the 5 big boys up front led by Tunsil giving Watson all the time he needs. Oh, and about Watson, he'll buy additional time with his legs. Get ready for Watson to pick that below average defense to pieces on every level getting the ball out to a huge staple of weapons. Yes. The Texans should beat the Colts handily.

I don't want 'the more time the Oline gives Watson, the more time he'll take" philosophy. His success has come about by him getting the ball out quickly. If he goes back to the old philosophy, he and the team will undoubtedly revert.

I didn't really mean it like that. You're right about that of course. I just mean Tunsil has really turned the line around and turned that group into one that protects Watson very well and opens running lanes for the backs. I think Smith is really helping Watson learn how to get the ball out quick, even in plays that develop a little slower. He's been a great influence on Watson and it's making a real difference.

It's interesting to note that in all years past going back to his rookie 2013 year, T Y Hilton consistently averaged ~16-17 yds/catch...............this year 9.7 yds/catch.

Those other years have two games against us factored in. TY's average this year will go up tomorrow, & again in December.

One reason that has to be considered, besides possible scheme change with Brisset in there, is TY Hilton's quad injury of week 3. He really didn't rest it long enough (missed 1 game). Came back week 5 with a lack-luster performance and a longest catch being 14 yds. With a quad of any grade even with adequate rest/rehab, in a speedster WR, you can expect that his long patterns are going to be compromised/minimized for risk of re-injury. Re-injury to the quad is most common during a long fast run. The Bye has given him additional rest/rehab time, but for the remainder of the season, he will maintain an increased risk for re-injury to this muscle group or another (compensatory). This fact in itself is reason enough for the Colts to adjust his play. He's a great player and I would never wish him re-injury. I would think that he and the Colts would be wise to hold him back.............not simply because the Texans would like to see that for selfish reasons, but for the Colts to minimize the risk of losing him more of the season.

I was just reading that Mahomes could be out as long as 6 weeks and they have multiple other critical injuries.

Do they even make the post season with Mahomes sidelined for that long ?!

Their next 6 weeks

GB
Minny
TinBreds
SuperChargers
Bye
Raiders

I don't expect them to beat either GB or Minny , the Chargers and Raiders are divisional games and always tough …. split those and beat the TinBreds and they are .500 with a trip to Foxborough the following week.

Might be a wildcard team .… my how fortunes turn in this league.

Texans Ravens could be a big game in terms of playoff seeding …. tho the Texans do have an easier schedule , Ravens get the NFC West with games left against the 49ers and Rams.

Regarding Fairbairn:

Texans coach Bill O'Brien has remained patient and has ascribed the situation to the entire operation, not just Fairbairn. Fairbairn expressed confidence Friday afternoon that the situation will improve against the Colts on Sunday.

Fairbairn has gotten in extra work this week with holder Bryan Anger and former Pro Bowl long snapper Jon Weeks.

"We do what we normally do: go out to work, go to practice and try to go 1 for 1 every time and look at the results," Fairbairn said. "Everyone is going to overreact. I trust my teammates. We're going to go out there this weekend and attack it and we're going to do well."

Fairbairn is playing under a $3.095 million restricted free agent tender. Reliable in the past, Fairbairn is adjusting to a new holder in Anger, who replaced punter Trevor Daniel after two games.

There have been some rough moments in how how Anger holds the ball for kicks, placing it with the laces facing toward Fairbairn instead of the optimal laces out.

"Bryan and Weeks have been great," Fairbairn said. "We've gotten our extra work, visualized and we're ready for this weekend."

Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts

Players to Watch

JJ Watt has been nothing short of fantastic to start the 2019 NFL season. He enters Week 7 ranked fourth among all defenders with 120 or more pass-rush snaps in pass-rushing grade (87.3) with 24 hurries, 10 hits and five sacks. Going against Colts’ Braden Smith in 2018, Watt totaled seven pressures in 62 one-on-one matchups.

Fantasy Football Preview

In a lot of ways, Jacoby Brissett is a different quarterback in 2019 than he was as the Colts’ emergency starter in 2017. With 10 passing touchdowns, he’s already almost to his total of 13 from that year, his passer rating has climbed from 81.7 to 94.9, and his fantasy points per game have gone from 13.7 to 18.4. This week, he and the Colts draw a Texans defense that has allowed strong fantasy performances in four of six weeks so far.

Greenline Preview

This game opened as a pick ’em before siding with the hometown Colts, making them -1 favorites. The total has dropped from an opening 48 down to 47 or 47.5 in certain spots. With both numbers on the move, it is worthwhile to monitor Greenline to see if either number becomes playable if the market hasn’t found consensus.

Texans plan to defend T.Y. Hilton a 'bit differently'
  • By Kevin Patra
  • Around the NFL Writer

T.Y. Hilton has clowned the Houston Texans' secondary throughout his career.

The Indianapolis Colts receiver donned a clown mask last year during a playoff matchup after a back-and-forth with Texans corner Johnathan Joseph, then proceeded to go for 85 yards on five receptions in the blowout postseason win. The numbers were the lowest for Hilton in three games against the Texans last year. Week 4: 4 catches, 115 yards; Week 14: 9 catches; 199 yards.

For his career, in 15 games against the Texans, including the playoffs, Hilton has 81 catches for 1,530 yards and nine touchdowns. He's averaging 5.4 catches for 102 yards per tilt against Houston.

Houston DBs are focusing on changing that trend versus Hilton in Sunday's pivotal AFC South bout.

"Just limit the big plays, obviously," Joseph, who is hoping to return from a hamstring injury, said Thursday, via the Houston Chronicle. "You can't let him get over the top, get behind the coverage, can't let him get the catch-and-run plays. Anything you can do to limit the big plays, you have to challenge him from that standpoint."

Hilton insists he doesn't do anything different against the Texans. He just takes advantage of opportunities, and against Houston he seems to get a lot.

"I just go out there and do my job, and I take what they give me," Hilton said this week. "And I just guess they give me a lot. If (the Texans don't double-team me), it's going to be a long day for them."

We haven't seen the same Hilton this season with Jacoby Brissett under center. Part of that is due to dealing with a quad injury this year.

Hilton has yet to breach the 100-yard mark in four games played this season, his high-water mark coming with an 8-catch, 87-yard, 2-TD performance in Week 1. Perhaps more surprisingly, Hilton's longest catch this season is 26 yards.

The Colts offense with Hilton dealing with the quad issue has been compressed for much of the season. Perhaps it's part of Brissett taking over. Perhaps it's defenses keying on Hilton, not fearing any of Indy's other targets. Perhaps it's the success of the run game. Perhaps it's a witch's brew of everything.

Every QB and offense under O'Brien has struggled when defenses run Cover 4 and take the slow, developing routes away from the Texans. I expect the Colts to play the same way as the Panthers and not play as much man as the Chiefs. This game will tell a lot about the offensive improvements we have seen since the Panthers' game. I hope they don't revert to running and throwing into the heart of a Cover 4 defense.

False.. tex put up franchise pts in a 2017 divisional game. tired of the sh****** predictions this is a blow out
Man, I really want to believe that but this game opened as a pick em and now has the Colts a -1 point favorite. Vegas doesn't miss much.
The Texans are a better team with the much better QB. But Reich is a much better coach. The Oil Can is a house of horrors for the Texans. I don't care if the Texans win 6-3, just win.

I don't expect them to beat either GB or Minny , the Chargers and Raiders are divisional games and always tough …. split those and beat the TinBreds and they are .500 with a trip to Foxborough the following week.

Don't forget their division might be won by an 8-8 team.

The Texans’ 8-27 record against the Colts, including playoffs, is by far their worst against any AFC South opponent:

Jaguars: 22-13

Titans: 16-18

Colts: 8-27

The Texans are 8-27 against the Colts, including playoffs, with a 3-14 record at home.

Among quarterbacks who have played every game since Week 1, Brissett’s three interceptions are tied for the seventh-fewest in the league.

Brissett’s 6.4 yards per pass attempt is the lowest in the NFL among quarterbacks who have played every game since Week 1.

Among quarterbacks who have started every game since Week 1, Brissett’s 212.4 passing yards per game are the second-lowest in the NFL.

AFN has smiled on Texans fans and will be airing the game tonight at 1900 on their primary sports channel. Another week that I will get to watch and participate on TT.

On a side note.....AFN games(s) that aired are voted on by folks living overseas. Texans winning ways have hopefully woke up fans and we'll get them every week for the balance of the season. GO TEANS!!!!

That playoff loss to Indy last year was rigged as a ************, our first deep pass should have been pass interference bigger than **** instead we had to punt. Then we stopped them on their first drive but the refs gave them a super generous spot for the first down. I keep hearing that the NFL is a narrative driven league well there was a narrative by the NFL and the media going into that playoff game last year that it was an Andrew Luck coming out party and he was the golden boy on the pregame show he won comeback player of the year over Watt last year where the **** is he now? Comeback player of the year my ******* ass. Watson almost came back on them in the second half with Hopkins playing hurt with no other receivers, that would have been a way different game with Fuller or even D. Thomas in the game. I think we're going to beat their ass this time. Let's ******* go
It wasn't rigged, it was an *** beating.
Luck's coming out party? He had already been to an AFC Championship game.

I remember being at the mercy of AFN when I was stationed in Germany from 1988-1991 (with a five month trip sandwiched in to Saudi Arabia/Kuwait/Iraq). Enjoy the game.

It's game day!
In 4 1/2 hours, the Texans will take the field against the Colts in Lucas Oil Stadium.
The Texans are going to leave the Oil Can with the victory.

Go Texans!

P.S. Congratulations to the Astros on a great win over the Yankees in game 6 of the ALCS to send them to their second World Series in 3 years!
Go Astros!
Take It Back!

I haven’t seen a colts game this season - why are they good? Everyone talks about this being a real test and a close game, but on paper, I don’t see it. Neither their offense nor defense ranks in the top half of the league, their qb looks serviceable at best, their biggest weapon in Hilton didn’t look great this season.

i am not underestimating then, they always play us tough and Hilton will torch us again, but on paper we look like the way better team or am I missing somwthing?

HOPKINS VS THE COLTS SECONDARY

For a player of Hopkins’ stature, he is more than likely to win his fair share of battles against opposing teams. This is just a fact. But last year, the Colts were one of the few teams who not only contained the All-Pro wide receiver but did so multiple times throughout.

Hopkins and the Colts faced each other three times in 2018, and if this was boxing, the Texans’ superstar absolutely won Round One. While facing his divisional rival in Week 4, Hopkins produced 10 catches for 169 receiving yards and one touchdown in an overtime win. But things quickly changed in the final two rounds.

Because of the excellent job in coverage by the likes of Pierre Desir and Kenny Moore II, Hopkins would be held to nine catches, 63 receiving yards, and one touchdown, and the Texans would lose both games to the Colts. Yet, as we enter Sunday’s game, Hopkins could be looking at a great chance to get revenge as the Colts’ secondary is ravaged with injuries and will already be without Moore.

WR T.Y. Hilton vs. Texans’ secondary

It really wouldn’t be a complete story about the Colts and Texans if I didn’t mention T.Y. Hilton’s success against them. That’s not to be disrespectful to the Texans, but it’s true. In recent years, the biggest storyline attached to this specific AFC South matchup has been the multi-time Pro Bowl wideout’s dominance over his rival.

Just last season alone, Hilton produced 18 catches and 399 receiving yards against the Texans and that’s despite suffering or dealing with injuries in all three encounters. But on Sunday, the two sides will face each other but with some noticeable differences.

The man who is better known as “Ghost” hasn’t been gaining many yards these days, but he’s racking up on receiving touchdowns. In fact, Hilton’s current total of four is tied for sixth amongst all receiving targets across the league and projects to conclude at 13 by season’s end.

As for the Texans, their middle of the pack pass defense that’s ranked 18th is coming off an impressive second-half performance against the reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes in Week 6. The Texans held Mahomes to just 41 passing yards after halftime in their 31-24 victory last Sunday.

Texans INACTIVES:

Bradley Roby (hamstring)
Mike Adams, Tytus Howard (MCL)
Greg Mancz (concussion)
Logan Paulsen
Carlos Watkins
Tyrell Adams.

[ Johnathan Joseph, Tashaun Gipson, Kenny Stills are all active]
Praying for Joseph, Stills and Gipson. They could all use another week for sure

Desir, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury and was unable to practice all week leading up to today’s AFC South Division clash against the Houston Texans at Lucas Oil Stadium, was labeled as questionable on Friday, but is officially active today.

Two other Colts players labeled as questionable for the Colts heading into the game — defensive end Justin Houston and guard Quenton Nelson — are also both active against the Texans.

Starting safety Malik Hooker, meanwhile, who was labeled as doubtful on Friday, is inactive and will miss his third straight game.

Others inactive for the Colts today:

wide receiver Parris Campbell
tackle/guard Le’Raven Clark
defensive Tackle Trevon Coley
defensive tackle/end Tyquan Lewis
cornerback Kenny Moore II
running back Jonathan Williams.

****************************************************************

Some active today appear to me to be in desperation .........................Houston and Desir, in particular.

Inactive players for today's game.

TEXANS

Mike Adams FS
Tyrell Adams LB
Tytus Howard OT
Greg Mancz OG
Logan Paulsen TE
Bradley Roby CB
Carlos Watkins DE

COLTS

Parris Campbell WR
Le'Raven Clark OT
Trevon Coley DT
Malik Hooker FS

Praying for Joseph, Stills and Gipson. They could all use another week for sure
The only one I really have a problem with is Joseph...........I call this more a desperation move............I will be surprised if this turns out to be a wise decision.

I'm looking forward to watching Reader against this Indy line today. Reader has been playing really well this year, and I really want to see him do big things on the way to a statement win in their house. I think a lot more people are going to have their eyes opened on him.

Colts have been in every game this year. Nomatter the opponent they play up to or down to the level of competition. That's why it is expected to be a competitive game.

My ******* car won't start which means I can't make it to Alicias to guarantee this win today. I guess I'll have to have my car towed to the dealership tomorrow. What a drag. I guess the Texans are on their own today without my help.

I hate ******* car problems.

Texans offensive line has improved, but let's be honest the falcons and chiefs suck at getting to the qb. Also you are missi g a starting olineman so that should have an affect on the line play. Division games are typically close unless one team commits alot of turnovers. The colts have been great with turnovers and penalties all year, which is why it should be close regardless of who wins

And the Colts are missing their starting center now and 3 starting in the secondary and a starting linebacker. The Colts are missing quite a few starters in this one. Gonna be hard to stop the jugernaught that is the Texans offense. Get ready. The Texans are gonna smoke the Colts in their own house.
