Before you break your arm patting yourself on the back might want to remember one thing. If BoB hadn't completely changed the scheme, or let someone else call still not sure on that one, we would have been right back where we were last year with Watson on track to get 60+ sacks again. To give you an idea, Watson has not taken a single sack in the last two games yet he is still the 5th most sacked QB. I like the Tunsil trade and most of the moves made in the off season but lets not kid ourselves about what the biggest difference maker was and its the system switching
Right, and if we had not done better this year, we might have done worse.

I'm just glad that many agree that the offensive scheme has changed. Unlike some on this MB.

BTW, I gave them until week 6 for the OL to come together. Does that make me wrong? I wonder how the OL is going to look against a competent Colts defense this weekend.
No, not necessarily. It’s just 1 week from each other. Are people really afraid of the colts? The same team that lost to the chargers & raiders? I haven’t watched the colts since last year during the regular season. I guess there defense is good? This is one of those games Deshaun had circled on his calendar. If you think the colts are about to man handle the Texans again, lol idk what to tell you.

Nobody is afraid of the Colts. We just know currently they are a formidable opponent. Who I might add will be ready for war this Sunday. We owe them a couple ash whippings because they beat us last season twice. Once in the regular season and knocking us out of the playoffs.

It's going down on Sunday. I will be in the comfort of my own man cave. Smoking up my pit with some good old fashioned ribs. While sipping on ice cold Crown Apple and Sprite.

Should be a interesting one. I think fuller will have a big day. I expect them to put points up out the gate. The goal is to make the colts offense one dimensional.

This is Watson’s revenge game. He has a healthy team now and since we moved to the dink and dunk scheme. He’s been impossible to stop. Reminds you of Brady in a sense. Probably the smartest qb in the game right now with Wilson.

Colts are a bottom 5 run defense. 17th in pass rush. Watson will have enough time to shred there weak secondary. This won’t be hard. Relax

The Colts will win rather easily if BO reverts back to the stuff that was not working.

The Texans have EARNED all of the feelings of doubt and skepticism over the years.

Prove us wrong, not just regular season, but big games and most importantly, the playoffs.

Last week was a big win. Now consistently do it again and that cloud of doubt will slowly start to fade.

But, the only thing that will really remove the skepticism is going deep into the playoffs and acting like a team that earned the right and deserves to be there (and not just due to a so-called "championship" of a four team mediocre division).

Fortunately, #4 seems to be the leader to make it all happen. I have no doubt about that dude.

Everyone liked the addition of Tunsil. No doubt it would help the OL and improve the offense overall. The two big concerns over the trade were:

1. Did we give up too much?
2. Will we be able to re-sign him?

If we're not able to extend him, then Tunsil was just an expensive rental that hopefully help bring us a championship this season or the next.

I'm not buying any SB tickets because of limited early season success. There's too much history of disappointment. They still have to prove it if they're over the hump for good.

Why you keep calling me Jésus? Do I look Puerto Rican to you? He said 'HEY ZEUS' ... as in father of Apollo, Mt Olympus, don't F with me or I'll shove a lightning bolt up your A ... you got a problem with that?

See? No one cares.

In the spirit of the “new” culture of the board, I would suggest try being a bigger person instead of an Internet tough guy.

It’s a tired look.

Bwhahaha internet tough guy. Man move around with that silly crap.

It's a tired on your part. Next time stay in your own lane. And let dude handle his own stuff.

Handle my own stuff?

I stand by what I said, the offense has been cut down to 1-2 reads. Call that whatever you want.

Lets not talk about this anymore it makes for bad MB conversation. Everybody already knows what both of us think. Lets just leave it at this and move on.

Then why are you responding. Dude came at me thre wrong way period .

And yes you are very capable of standing up for yourself on here.

This is not the first time we've disagreed and won't be the last.

I'm done with moving on, so that means you will not be talking about how this offense suppose to be simplified any longer right.

I just wanted to respond to you saying I needed to speak for my self to TB.

Nope but I may bring it up in conversation that the offense is now a 1-2 read offense and if that's not there take off and run. That's when they aren't running the option/RPO's.

I doubt y'all will stop trying to derail this thread.

BTW, I'm pretty sure the Texans got the Chiefs attention.

Clowney trade was more of a dump than trade. But what did we dump: I believe with his knee, he had to become lighter and has, unfortunately, a reduced career longevity. Being lighter, or generally just softer, made him "athletically" bounce away from plays and avoid setting the edge. Also mentally soft in jumping offsides to lose games.

And if the argument is we also dumped Clowney's rushing talent, I think that's been retained in Mercilus who is more disciplined and fundamentally sound.

The just traded for Tunsil and drafted Howard/Scharping, I want to know what more you think they could've done to fix it.
They could have drafted better. O'Brien said Howard "checks all the boxes," so Gaine can't be blamed while O'Brien is considered a savior for the same player. Time will tell. Gaine is responsible for a lot of good on defense.

I agree the trade for Tunsil was very much worth it, like trading up for Watson was. A great QB, LT and DE are all very rare. I also commended McNair for paying for Osweiler even though it was a disaster. You swing hard and miss sometimes.

As a whole after seeing the OL this yr I would love to know how you think they could've drafted better to fix the OL. I didn't like the Howard pick at the time because I didn't think he could play LT.

After they got Howard in the building and thru TC, BOB must've agreed with me and hence the Tunsil trade was made. Tunsil is a stud LT (The best young LT in the NFL) and Howard playing RT where he's more than athletic enough to be a really good/Great RT plus adding Scharping to play OG was the cherry on top and because of this investment the Texans have one of the best young OL's in the NFL and Watson is only going to get better as the young talented OL plays more together. Kicker is they're already pretty good.

I’ve said this before but they never said they were drafting Howard to play LT. In fact one of the big things they were raked over the coals on this board was that Gaine said they didn’t yet know where he would play. I’m not going to give the Texans credit for knowing all along they were going to trade for Tunsil but I do think they knew there was a chance Howard wouldn’t be the LT they needed but that he would be a great RT if he couldn’t play LT. Drafting a good, young, 10+ year answer to RT at 1.23 is a great draft pick. It’s not like we were drafting him in the top 15.

I think overall they were hoping Kalil had another year left in him and Howard could take that year to become the LT of the future. When it was clear that Kalil was going to get beat for the job by Davenport, stop and think about that a minute, they knew it was throw Howard to the wolves or go with door number 3. What was luck is that a team in full rebuild mode that values picks over everything else also happen to have one of the best LT in the game today and were ready to do business. Miami had the player and the desire to trade, Texans had the need and the draft capital to meet their price.

Texans got their biggest need filled for at least this year and next, Miami can go back to their fantasy of having any chance of winning their division before BB and Brady retire. Win-win for both sides.

2024 / Rebuilding Block 4 After Playoffs / Texans
The way the OL has shaken out early on is pretty amazing. Tunsil, Howard, and Johnson have answered the T question. The play of G's Scharping and Fulton has lifted the play of Martin, which I have thought was impossible. Now, even Martin has been getting passing grades.

I've got a lot of hope tied around T, Skipper being a solid acquisition. Mancz can fill the backup C/G roll. T, Clark will be Clark....hopefully on the sideline.

The PS has 3 T's. Rick Leonard (6-7 @ 311 / Florida State), Kyle Murphy (6-6 @ 305 / Stanford) and Elijah Nkansah (6-5 @ 315 / Toledo). They have no C's or G's on the PS. Kelemete could eventually return but I'm not so sure I want to see him.

If the pieces remain together, I can see the OL becoming a strength and that's a good thing to the rest of the personnel.

Leading the afc south with a 6-3 record at the half way point. I told the doubters week 1. No need to panick. We’re going to make the playoffs. I don’t think anyone logical here doubts Watson anymore. We just have to worry about future injuries and of course, O’Brien’s inconsistent playcalling. The future looks bright. Maybe we get stomped out first round and can fire Ob. Or just maybe dw greatness overcomes his inconsistent hc the same as Brady with Ob. maybe..

For the record, I've never doubted Watson and the ability of QBs like him to cover up a lot of deficiencies. My doubts have solely been on the HC.

Yeah, that’s majority of the board. We’re all skeptical about the hc. At least, the logical people are.

Sign. We’re all witnessing what Dw is becoming. He has the Lebron effect. He can carry mediocre hcs to the championship and his team believes in him. Ob’s starting to realize that. I’m rooting for Bill not to screw this up. I don’t want another hc. I just want him to give Deshaun the keys

powda

The bridge between stupid and useless is short.
I now decree it's okay to doubt.
Some of the more negative posters around here (including me) get run out of the room for not being optimistic. We get told things like "your not a real fan" because we are more skeptical.

It's not that we don't want the Texans to win, it's just that I'll believe it when I see it. I think after being a Houston football fan for over 40 years it's just a defense mechanism. The loses hurt less because I expect to lose. I enjoy the wins a lil more because I never gave us a chance.

Your post @txtx is actually very accurate. This is the only time of the year it's ok to be negative and a doubter. As time passes the board as a whole will forget where they are right now. We'll make some minor coaching change. We'll sign some mediocre free agents. We'll draft some players (including another gd tight end.)

In a few months doubters will start being run out of the room again. Some yahoo will again tell me I (and others) are not real fans.

There's a peddler coming back around soon. Save your money folks. His name is Cal.
