Texans doubters

That's what I say when I go out on weekends and usually end up with a pretty bad hangover

& you make it through to another weekend & do it all over again, or you learn from your mistakes & invest your time wisely.

That's where I'm at. The Texans (Cal most likely) realize we've been making bad move after bad move. & while this past weekend looks like a flurry of bad moves I prefer to frame it as the final bandaid rip.

Time will tell.

It sounds more like he thinks the solution is to drink even more to build up tolerance

Bill O’Brien’s Laremy Tunsil trade:
- landed a franchise LT
- fixed the offensive line
- cleaned up Brian Gaine’s mess
- saved Deshaun Watson
- saved the Texans season

Was it expensive? Sure. But was it worth it? Not even a question. When you have generational talent at qb. Youre suppose to make mistakes finding players to protect him and surrounding him with talent. We can’t have the perfect coach or gm like lucky New England but draft picks won’t even matter for 2 years if Deshaun is really a championship qb. Which I don’t doubt, but Ob knows he needs to start off hot or he’s gone mid season.

Wow, you really need to stop drinking the battle red kool-aid. Or do you work in the Texans PR dept.?

Can I try one for the Clowney debacle?

Ok, here goes..

Bill O'Brien's Jadeveon Clowney trade:

- discarded a stud edge player and otherwise valuable trade asset
- brought on two questionable at best players
- acquired a third that would've been so anyway with just releasing Clowney
- paid the Seahawks millions seemingly for the hell of it
- got utterly exposed by John Schneider
- continued a time-honored tradition of front office mismanagement
- did the square root of f*ck all to help our defense

Several of our posters let outside sources do their reasoning for them. Then, as a result, what they claim to be truth is really their indoctrination by those same outside sources, not their own critical thinking.

Mindset= If the internet says its a bad deal then it must be true.

Sure. But that doesn't stop me from forming an opinion now.

I have doubts.

Nothing wrong with doubts, everyone should have doubts about their team no matter which team it is. There is a difference though from having doubts and declaring that everything the Texans and O’Brien in particular does is a stupid move.

BoB does a lot of bone headed things and I fully believe this is his Hail Mary. If it works great, Houston we’re now a legit force in the NFL, if it doesn’t then he should be fired. It’s no different than going all in at the poker table, you win you look like a master card shark that played his hand to perfection. You lose you are an idiot that should have walked away before busting out.

NFL teams have been doing this for years, everytime a team goes into “win now mode” they do this exact same thing. Difference is Texans have never gone into win now mode and none of us thought they would this late in the off season. It’s not what I would have done but hen it’s not my job and money on the line either.

It’s sad because the kool aid krew can be all merry and happy holding onto their optimistic half cup of warm piss and call out all the guys who have seen this storm brewing for a while. If the team does struggle all the “doubters” just get chastised as bad fans.

Football is not a new sport and neither are poorly run football teams. This whole “fix” mirrors what other bad GMs/front offices do with their agonal gasps at the helm. Only thing is we won’t be blessed with a regime change with a bad season. OBrien literally bought himself 3-4 more years.

Sure. We've all got opinions. This trade was lopsided. Not very smart & the timing is all jacked up.

We all know what they are trying to do. Win & win now. If it works & we've got a nucleus that can win big over the next three/four years, there's really nothing to complain about.

If we're that same 9-7 paper tiger... yeah, start cutting throats.

We should make a week 1 avatar bet.

It’s going to be difficult finding another premier edge rusher but this is a business and things are shifting now. Instead of setting up this team around JJ. It’s now Deshauns turn to take the wheel. I wish the best for JC and I hope he dominates the nfc. With that being said, I trust Rc to find a break out star in our defense. We’re now a offensive team with a solid defense. You give that qb time. He’s going to bring you a championship. The line looks much better. I expect big things to come from this squad. I hope JJ wins another dpoy.

I envy your optimism

I think we're overestimating Tunsil's impact on the offensive line. Yes, he's going to lock down one position (hopefully for the next decade) but that doesn't mean magically the rest of the offensive line is instantly way better than they were before. I don't consider the offensive line fixed until we see Howard and Scharping consistently starting and playing well. Then we've still got to find a quality RT and decide who is the future center. Does adding Tunsil make this line way better than everyone else they tried out at LT? Yes. But to claim it's all fixed, I disagree until results are shown consistently.

He has a second and two thirds to find an RT and a C

That's all well and good, but I've no idea what it's to do with the post of mine you quoted there..

They got rid of a stud, 3 time Pro-Bowl edge player, for a 3rd round pick, which they would have gotten just letting him walk next year, 2 players that were closer to being cut than anything, AND they're still paying half of Clowney's salary. And all because the HC/GM had what ever disposition he had against him.

I don't need the internet to tell me that's a horseshit deal. And if anybody can't see what a horrible deal that was, then they maybe ought to try some of that critical thinking.

I have a sig bet with amazing80. We bet on avatars?

For the loser. What's the bet? You want me to take the Texans to win?

We don't know if things are fixed yet. Have to play the games before we can truly evaluate that OP.

Plus do you think the coaching aspect of it has been fixed?

Deal. N.O. win & I'll sport that goofy BO'b image as my avatar for a week. Texans win & BO'bs your avatar for a week.

The same pic you just posted?

Not sure what the words beneath my name are called but I'll change it to.

If the Texans win I'll declare myself your "slut puppy"

You good?

The Clowney trade makes no sense at all, no matter how much spiked Kool aid you drink. Doing nothing would have been a better option. You can't defend it, it doesn't help this team win at all, but the prospect of JC coming back at any point in the season would help the team more than anything Mingo or Martin will do. And paying 7 million in capspace is just ludicrous, they spent a 2nd a few years back to get rid of 20m owed to Brock, but 7m and a probowler only gets you a 3rd???

I like the Tunsil trade though, a bit steep of a price, but LTs don't grow on trees. It's certainly a better prospect than this regime is likely to draft, so you might as well get a known commodity instead.
