FIRE O'BRIEN NOW!!!

This is where I'm different than many.
I had done a lot of researches on BB, and I recognized the good things he did in Cleveland.
He inherited an aging roster that needed to be replenished continually.
His starting QB missed 17 games in 3 years.
You know back then the QB can get hit pretty hard.
The last year he was there, the Browns faced 7 teams that went to the playoffs.
Besides, the players knew that the franchise was going to relocate.
And the Browns fans can be very harsh.
There was a lot of distractions.

In fact, BB basically built that roster such the next coach didn’t have to replace any guy hardly.
A few players left for other teams, but overall, he left the Browns with a very solid foundation, including the ST (Kicker, punter, returner’), the work.
The next HC; however, just didn’t know his system.
Had BB stayed on, he will have the new draft to improve on, and maybe add a player or two in FA, and that team would have been a contender, most likely - unless they get some injuries to major players, of course.

Down goes Jordan Thomas. Thanks, Bill O’Brien.

Edit: They showed him on the sideline after the break. Hope he’s good!

I still don't understand what you're trying to say

So, the Dolphins want more than just Clowney and a 1st round pick. I can see O’Brien completely f-cling the next regime by handing the Dolphins Clowney, a 2020 1st & 2nd, and a 2021 3rd. He probably feels the boot coming after this season, so f-ck it.

0-3 and he's out of here

I wish. It will take much more than that. I even question a record of 3-13 sealing his fate now. It will just be attributed to some other uncontrollable issue and OBrien remains. This year already has the “no GM, no OL, no RB, no JD” excuses written all over it. The chin dimple is emitting some sort of ultrasonic, mind controlling frequency and has the McNairs trapped. We should probably go save them. Lord of the Chins 1 - The Mediocre Fellowship.

Yeeeesh. Step out to pick up lunch, turn on 790 and Uncle Greg and ND Kalu are just GIVING IT to OBrien. Uncle Greg called OBrien a "TOOL" for an answer about "culture" in the locker room, and how OBrien just danced around the question and said something like "we're getting there" ... SIX YEARS INTO THE DAMN THING!! LOL

They went on to offer some player perspectives about playing for a coach like that and how its just a matter of time before the players in that locker room grow tired of the act.

A caller made a great point speaking of managerial operations and how the Cleveland deal set a bad precedent because giving away a 3rd rounder for a RB that was more than likely going to get cut only opened the door for other GMs to try and fleece this team due to the morons they have calling the shots right now. Thats why Miami is now insisting on a kings ransom because they know they can con OBrien out of it.

SMH.

Truth be told, I think it takes a Kings ransom for a young talented LT. Unfortunately for us, they are becoming increasingly rare. I don’t think it has anything to do with giving a 3rd for Duke. Not defending OB, just making an observation

If Cleveland knew Lamar Miller would be lost for season the escalating 3rd would not be a supplemental but actual 3rd rd. pick that could wind up being more attractive than anyone imagined.

The advantage for O'Brian in playing in a weak division.

Division Record: 19/11 .633
Outside Division: 23/27 .460
----------------------------
Teams over 500: 11/27 .289
Regular Season: 42/38 .525
Playoff: 1/4 .250

This is so much worse when you consider the defense has been pretty good

The problem is Tunsil, though promising, is not that guy. No team would give Miami a 1st round pick for him in the offseason. They'd rather draft their own rather than trade for a guy in the last year of his contract. & nobody but nobody is saying he's met the expectations of the 13th overall pick.

Doesn't mean I dont want him. But... this is the career path Howard is on. Guard for 2019. LT 2020. Good (not great LT) in 2021. Hopefully worth the 5th year option in 2022.

They could have traded a third for Dillard.

They could have traded a third for Dillard.

And that’s why Gaine isn’t here any more. Perhaps I should have said it takes a Kong’s random to trade for a young proven LT. I love Dillard and wanted the Texans to draft him but to me he isn’t a proven players until he shows well against NFL first team players

Case in point Rod Johnson looked like a stud against Detroit but I believe he was going against back ups

I’m not saying I’d be in favor of what the reported offer for Tunsil is, I’m just saying that young talented LTs are becoming very rare and it might take a kings ransom to trade for a proven one. The ONLY way I’d even remotely be OK with Clowney and a first would be for Tunsil, Drake and Stills but I don’t think Miami does that

Roderick College tape stacked up well against Dillard problem is didn’t play in pro style system like Dillard and he came out early before he was polished.

Dillard is a polished prospect and natural LT but he lacks core strength and conditioning to be ready to start LT day one even if Texans had traded up to draft him. Whereas Texas caught a major break w/Johnson, didn’t even know what they had until well into training camp.

O'Brien is going nuts with this lt thing. Patriots won a super bowl renting Trent brown for a year with a 3rd round pick.

Maybe if the moron knew how to evaluate talent he wouldn't have to overpay

I’m really hopeful Rod becomes a good T for us. We still really need 2. I’m not confident in Henderson’s health at all

Dillard played in a pro style system? Lol!

Tweet from @StephStradley: General observations from O’Brien presser:
1. Longer than usual.
2. Just because Clowney hasn’t signed his tender, doesn’t mean the Texans can’t talk to him. OB kept on saying talking is tied to signing the tender. That’s an artificial negotiation construct aka playing chicken.

Tweet from @StephStradley: @dickfundy He is aware of this. It’s particularly uncomfortable AP because there’s no good cop (coach), bad cop (tough decision making GM). Hard for things not to become personal. In a city like Houston where we see first hand what great GMs can do, this is really hard to see.

Don't let it get to you. Mostly everything on here are opinions but I understand the insults are not cool unless they are directed to BOOB lol.

Eh, I took a break this week, came back, and it is the same small cadre of about 3-4 OB haters that have hijacked every thread. If anything they ramped up their over the top rhetoric based on a meaningless 4th pre-season game. There is no value in sifting through all their hate-rinse-repeat posts to find the constructive/objective nuggets from knowledgeable posters. Been here over a decade but I've tired of this. Enjoy it if you can.

Again, this has never been reported.

It's very possible the Eagles contacted the Ravens with a take it os leave it offer late in the clock & they never shopped a "better" deal.

Gaine passes up trade

There were reports in the national media this week the Texans were trying to trade up from their 23rd spot in the first round to get Washington State left tackle Andre Dillard and that they were shopping outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney...

It should have been obvious to everyone Gaine wasn't interested in dealing up to get Dillard, or he would have done it. The Eagles traded fourth- and sixth-round choices to get Dillard. Gaine didn't have a fourth-round selection, and he didn't want to part with his third-round pick. He was happy to let the Eagles get Dillard before he took Tytus Howard, who should play tackle with the Texans.

And Brian Gain could have moved up much farther than the Ravens and got Dillard with a second rounder. That looks cheap now doesn't it ?
I know we talked about that over in the Draft section and calculated that on the Daft value points the Texans could have moved up into the mid-teens
with their second.
I just wonder how thoroughly Gain & O'Brien prepared for the Draft ?

The Texans should never have been in this position. Not-My-Job O’Brien is basically running the organization. Steel gets a lot of heat from people on this board for criticizing ownership but this mess is completely on Cal. And where the hell is that ethics chaplain they “fleeced” from NE? Where is he hiding? He was supposedly going to help out with this kind of stuff.

Think Gaine would be more of a Dillard guy than OB just because of run blocking and drafting a body guard comments. Gaine just echoed what was expected.

This guy is a joke. He's going to ruin Watson like Chuck Pagano ruined Luck, and then he makes idiotic trades like today. It's hard to even care about this team when a bunch of morons run the front office. Hope is a sucker's game for this franchise perpetuated by shiny marketing schemes.

I'm rooting for 0-16 every season until we clean house, sale the franchise, and change the name/logo.

20 years of this **** is long enough and we deserve so much better. We're cheerleaders at Columbine high. Deep down no matter how much time passes no one forgets. Pretending is a charade and ultimately it's just best if we demo the whole thing and start over.

***** this team.

Made a mistake on playoff record. Should have been 1/3 .250 instead of 1/4 .250.
