Reminiscing on the good times...

Remember when we were treated to a hell of an opening day September 12, 2010? Although it seemed like a one man show, Vonta Leach (Full Back) did a hell of a job ramming anyone who tried to get to Arian Foster, keeping the lane clear for him pretty much regularly. The offensive line showed up to play, and played hard!

231 yards on 33 carries, including 3 TD. Boy were we spoiled by Arian Foster.

Here’s a quick summary vid. For those with ADD, don’t you worry. It’s not a long video at all. I promise! Anyway, good times...

I've watched this whole video now at least 10 times. I miss the days of when I actually had hope about the Texans.

I really don’t get it. You all reminisce about these awesome teams from back then. Yet the architect of these teams, Rick Smith, is said by you all to have been a terrible gm. So which is it?

Kubiak was as much or more the architect, with input from Wade. RS wasn't a supply the groceries GM, more fetch them.

I had hope from 2011 up to the game against the Seahawks at NRG in 2013. After that, all hope was lost. Those 2 seasons (and some change) were something else. Mainly because this was the most successful we have ever been up to that point. Hell, those teams look miles ahead of the garbage play calls/scheme-non-scheme buttchin has showcased since his arrival in 2014.

Yet they still didn't score as many points as the Texans did this past year. Except for one season.

You don't consider Watson/Hopkins/WFV/Coutee fun to watch?

Although this question isn’t for me, I’ll give my own personal opinion. I think Watson/Hopkins/WFV/Coutee are fun to watch, but I can only imagine how much more explosive they’d be if they were operating under an offense that actually had an identity. Like Kubiak’s. While I’m not one to pretend Kubiak was this offensive mastermind, I give him his props cause he could probably scheme a turtle open in his offense. Something buttchin can’t do even with the fastest receiving group in Texans history, and with the best (dual threat) QB Houston probably has ever had. No offense to Warren Moon.

Any success our QB and speedy receivers have had is a testament to them while playing for such a dlckless stubborn coward of a HC.

They can be fun to watch, but I don't think the Texans can or will do anything as long as OB is still here.

A dickless coward of a HC?

What did you expect from the offense last year? I guess this is a matter of perception, with this OL BOB exceeded my expectations last year. I maintain this was a 3 yr rebuild from the beginning.

However that timeframe could've been speeded up if the Texans weren't such a cheap ass org. Of course it's really hard to blame anybody but Cletus for this since they don't even have a GM.

This is the exact feeling I had when Smithiak was here and the feeling I'm starting to get with Cletus/BOB.

A truly rudderless ship. But I'm willing to give BOB his 3 yr rebuild.

I have hope every season until proven otherwise. If I didn't I would have quit watching years ago.

You probably should stop or start rooting for a org that does everything possible to put the best product it can on the field. No more of this Not Texans Worthy crap.

Nothing has changed from Smithiak leaving or the old man dying. Except now we have a really dumb/entitled owner.

Hey Cletus it's obvious you're in over your head, talk your mother into selling the team.

No, no. Kubiak sucked too, from what I remember reading on here. And that's why he was fired: he was holding the team back.

There was much rejoicing when Houston hired the guy who went 15-9 in 2 seasons at Penn State.

lol....get a grip. Watson isn't so much as a pimple on Moon's ass right now. Good Christ.

I really think some of you people have all these hopes and dreams built up in your head, and then start talking like it's a reality. Watson has not proven jacks**t; don't ever put him in the same sentence as an NFL hall of fame legend like Warren Moon.

Moon's 1st 3 seasons look like a pimple on Watson's ass. Miserable completion %, few TDs, more INTs (led the league in his 3rd season with double his TDs), and less rushing in 3 years than Watson last year alone.

:spit:

Warren moon and Deshaun Watson walk into a bar...... and wondered why one is not to be in the same sentence as eachother...

I wonder if Warren Moon is aware of his apparent god status that none shall be mentioned with his own name....

As religions go, I always forget. Is it okay to draw the form and likeness of Warren Moon or is that an act worthy of stoning to death?

Just for your information, Son, Warren Moon was the worst excuse for a QB who ever got overrated.

The only thing Moon ever proved was that he was an epic choke artist.

Watson has more clutch in him than Moon ever had.

The dam defense choked not Moon. Geeezzzz the DC decided to go into a soft cover two crap that allowed the Bill's offense to get going. That skit had nothing to do with Moon and the offense.

How many pts did the offense put up the 2nd half?

Moon thru the int in OT that sealed the deal.

Doesn't really matter what the defense did. If Moon wouldn't have choked the Bills wouldn't have had enough time to comeback. Moon was nothing more than a gentleman's club champion who got caught up in a METOO moment as a broadcaster after he retired as a Seahawks color commentator. Not surprising if you knew anything about Moon's lifestyle back in his Oiler days. He certainly wasn't the family man he was portrayed to be and that lifestyle hurt the team IMHO

I never agreed with Jerry Glanvile about anything, he was correct when he said Moon couldn't win the big one. A guy that cant atleast get to a SB isn't a HOF'er IMHO.

This was Arian Foster's coming out party. This game reminds me of the importance of how crucial it is to have a great running game and a great defense. Yes the Texans did go 6-10, but many of those games were lost at the end of the game when the secondary allowed the other team to march down the field quickly. The Jets and Chargers games come to mind. Also games were lost at the end of the game that season due to bonehead penalties and decisions by players like Joel Dreessen and Glover Quin.

6-10

Tell me when the good times were again?

I don't know that Moon was the problem I think it was the Run N Shoot itself that doomed the Oilers in general, Buddy Ryan was right about that offense it was never going to win a championship. The offensive play calling in the comeback after they had that lead was really unforgivable, like what the **** were they thinking. And the defense collapsing that was was really unreal. How that falls on Moon is beyond me. Moon had a drive to tie that game against Buffalo, after Buffalo had taken a 38-35 lead Moon took them down the field on a drive to tie the game in the final minutes where he looked about as good as he ever did, in Buffalo after the crowd had lost their **** because the Bills had come back to take the lead, that drive by Moon to tie the game was clutch as ****. I just cant listen to this nonsense about him being overrated, he may not belong up there with the best of the best but I think he was better than probably 90% of all quarterbacks to ever play the game. He was definitely one of the best ever

It took a perfect storm of 2nd half offensive, defensive, special teams, coaching, and officiating ineptitude to blow that lead. No one escapes guilt on that one.

I thought this thread was about the "good times"? Like the human pods in The Matrix, Houston sports fans define their reality through misery and suffering.

Now this I can agree with. Once the momentum completely shifted, history was made.

Only good moments, good times hopefully around the corner :swatter:

This

But they need to change the way they go about acquiring talent or the good times are going to be few and far between. If you're looking for championships. But lets not put the horse ahead of cart. Lets find a GM 1st. SMH

This was a good idea for a thread until...

That’s pretty much Texans fans most of the time.

Has it been said yet this team is going nowhere with OB as coach or Cal as owner?
Not this one !
11-5 & AFC Champs for the 2018 season, and I dunno what's gonna happen this year but enthusiastically looking forward to it !
Maybe find someplace else to peddle your gloom and doom ?

Ad nauseum by Steel B. Mankind isn't going anywhere with OB as coach and Cal as owner as far as he sees it. lol

Freaking awesome game! Schaub got drilled on this throw also. Only twice have I seen AJ show this kind of emotion, this and the beat down of Innegan. Of course his emotions got the best of him there, but emotion nonetheless.

Now that Dre has been gone a few years this photo is quickly becoming my favorite in NFL history. You got to think about that exact moment that photo was taken, forget about everything after that for just a second and realize how ******* dominant AJ was in 2008 and 2009 seasons where he led the NFL in receiving and how he took matters into his own hands to win that game that day, in that moment he was one of the baddest motherfuckers ever in NFL history.

Very true on both of these.
Every once in a while I'll look at it and actually notice the Redskins DB in the background. That look of "dejectedness" (is that a word?) contrasted against AJ's overwhelming joy well, that tells you right there that that was one bad ass football game.
I think I yelled as loud as AJ is yelling....

I've been consistent and correct, until the Texans change the way they acquire players, there will be no Lombardi's down on Kirby.

Posters can live in denial if they wish

Unfortunately for this change to occur it will most likely require new ownership.

Correlation does not equal causation. Using your logic, I could have said for many years that until they get an Asian-American QB, there will be no Lombardi's down on Kirby. They haven't won one yet, so clearly I am right.

Now let me go ahead and make your next post for you...

steelbtexan: so then you are OK with them doing things exactly the same as they have always done? Enjoy your mediocrity.
