2019 Texans free agency

This is my argument more eloquently stated than I ever could have. In a way I want to see Watson get his neck broken to prove a point.

The arrogance, or cheapness of this org deserves what they get at this point.

Unless you believe that Devlin is on the level of HOF'er Gibbs. LMFAO

Wow, this is a new low even for you

Some people are willing to hope the worst for the Texans, just so they can be proven right. I’ll never get that.

This is total BS when it comes to posters here.

Speaking for myself, I could care less about being right. I care ( Obviously more than the Texans org does) about putting the best product on the field possible.

We've had this discussion for yrs and until they change the way they do business you can expect more of the same old same old.

Maybe if Watson got his F'n neck broken (not really) that would affect change, otherwise change appears to still be to traumatic for the Texans org as our late former carpetbagger used to say.

Things are changing on Kirby?

Drafting will probably get better

But we will never see a NFL championship parade in this city.

Unless Janice dies and the siblings do what siblings usually do when it comes to $$$$.

I get that we’re on a message board and hyperbole gets used a lot, but I wouldn’t ever think I saw the day that multiple Texans fans would be hoping that our franchise QB gets ‘his neck broke’ or hurt or whatever. You people sound like a jilted lover or something. Where did the Texans touch you? Unbelievable. Truly a debased group of people.

Why are you so fixated on $$$$ that isn't and never will be yours?

Wow. Just sitting back I can appreciate the emotion. It’s interesting like a car crash but no fatalities, thank goodness.

I think the Texans have done their best, other teams are just throwing stupid money around. Just the nature of free agency. Have some Taco Bell and relax.

Tell me again, what have the Texans done today besides losing a starting CBand an all pro S?

What have they done with all of that capspace tey've gained since KJax/HB walked?

A new Texans tradition #Sittingoncapspace

I'm not fixated on $$$$.

I just know what it will take to bring a championship to this city. I've been saying the same thing since 2010.

More and more sheep are realizing what's going on down on Kirby, not that it matters to the carpetbaggers.

Get used to it.

If that's what it takes to affect change I'm on board and you should be too if you want to see a championship parade in this city.

Texans have 74mil to spend Isnt that the most this team has had to spend ever? Key positions of need OT - CB - S - OG - TE - DL
All these cant be filled in the draft or on the cheap in FAs.

I just don't want to watch another season of a secondary getting abused. Losing major secondary pieces is a hallmark of this team. Bouye, Jackson, Johnson, Mathieu. At least Reid looks good.

So hopefully it's addressed.

Not sure it matters with the loser coaching anyway.

I'm not jumping off a building over losing the 2 safeties, because we still need CB's and there are serviceable safeties we can find for less money.
Serviceable is not good enough. Texans just lost a playoff game at home vs ind. Ind has 100mil to spend in fa. Jags are signing Nick Foles. Texans secondary has to be a strength not a weakness.

Very interested to see where these guys land.

RB - Tevin Coleman
WR - Tyrell Williams
OT - Daryl Williams
EDGE - Preston Smith
EDGE - Za'Darius Smith
CB - Ronald Darby
S - Adrian Amos

All are young, just now entering their primes, and none were signed during the opening salvo of FA.

They will probably sign Darby on the cheap. He will play 4-5 games before getting hurt again. But hey, he will play well before he gets hurt again but he will be cheap and that's what really matters.

Recently joined the optimist club did ya?

KJax was pretty Hayes in here. Has one good year and gets paid elsewhere. We’ll see if he regresses to his norm.

Tyrann sighed her to showcase himself for a big payday. He got it. Reid’s emergence and Hal’s return to health made him less key to resign.

Let’s see what it looks like at the end of the off season not after day one.

Not sure what 'Hayes in here' means, but KJax had more than one good year here

Hoping Earl Thomas doesn't come here. Insufferable primadonna twatbag befitting of Seattle's perpetually-aggrieved team culture.

Reminds me of Bill O'Brian clock management, slow to review and lack of conviction not to mention inability to adjust. Texans organization top down, is lethargic & reactive not proactive. At least do a better job keeping your own, frankly I'm shocked and appalled they let both Kareem and honey badger walk, reminds me of Bouye. History repeats itself again. Was this their grand plan and how's that working so far?

I jest. Chill the f out. We lost some starters and people are pissed. It's dark humor - get the stick out of your azz.

In a couple of months it's going to get twisted. That those starters decided to move on. They made a business decision for their families, & who can blame them?

But the truth is the Texans (which is BO'b for the moment) did not want them. Had BO'b wanted them on the team, we'd have made offers. But like Ben Jones, Brandon Brooks, Brooks Reed, Glover Quinn, & a couple others, we made none. Wasting resources, draft picks & FA dollars, failing to replace them.

For all we know this is more in-fighting in the F.O. a second GM refusing to spend available cap space for a coach who refuses to, or is incapable to, coach them.

I'm not saying this is what is happening. It could also be that BO'b & Gaine agree that the best tackle, safety, & cornerback in FA this year do not fit their vision of this team.

Or, they're cheap as bastards.

My fear...the Texans are taking a page out of the Crane and Luhnow playbook. The Astros use their metrics to identify relatively inexpensive players who may not be delivering the goods, bring them in and hand them over to Strom who figures out the problems, corrects them and viola....the Astros got the player that athlete should've been the whole time.

The Texans on the other hand, they can sign cheap players and let their coaches finish the process of ducking them up on a more permanent basis. This is not a good thing.

TEXANS
  • Jenna Laine reports that the Texans were offering S Tyrann Mathieu nearly $10 million per year before he agreed to a three-year, $42 million contract with the Chiefs.

I stated earlier, I don't believe HB is a $10M player. Regardless what the market says. Same for Kareem. I like the kid, but not so much to pay him $10M/yr. Not my money, but spending like that on players like that lead directly to cap hell. A place we don't want to be.

Two contradicting statements. You believe paying Kareem Jackson & Tyron Mathieu in excess of $10M/yr is championship level cap management?

Kareem Jackson who took a backseat to UDFA Aj Bouye & oft injured Kevin Johnson? We've been trying to replace him for years. In fact years ago he turned down more money to stay here.

Don't get me wrong. I'd like to keep him too, but not for the money he signed with Denver for. & if he's not starting at outside corner for the Broncos they'll regret signing him. & if they start him at outside corner you & I know they will regret signing him. That's not his position.

The difference is Bouye was worth the money.

Yep. Texans are rebuilding the secondary. These guys were playing when the team was giving up 400+ yard games anytime we faced a good QB last season. The secondary was broken even with them on the team. That showed up anytime Andrew Luck or Nick Foles showed up...who we will both be seeing minimum 2x/year now...

I am staying calm, there was mad money dumped day 1. As posters have said Amos is still out there, don't think Earl comes here. Darby is there for CB. Paradis can help with interior, RT's are available. RB's are available. Let's see what more time brings before we picket. I was pleased they resigned Blackson, Fairburn, Scarlett etc, but that is just the basics. Need to still fill at least some of the holes before the draft

Wth man, Kareem said nobody from the Texans didn't even approach him or his agent. Dude played his best football last season. Played two different positions in that secondary. And you don't give him an offer or show some freaking respect by saying, " we will be going in a different position".

Very classy Gaines and Obrien

Another possible factor is some players just don't want to play for BOB. Was rumored to be the case with Brooks and Bouye. The over the top, obnoxious, f-bomb every few seconds style can wear thin - especially when it's coming from someone who is below average at his job. Why put up with that from someone who is the one holding the team back if you can go somewhere else?
