2019 Texans free agency

The problem with that statement is, that almost half of the 1st round O-Linemen drafted in the 1st round over the last 5 years have been out right busts.

Note that the reason Raiders paid so much for Trent Brown, is that in 2018 "The Raider's fix for their problem at LT for the next 10 years" was drafting "Kolton Miller" out of UCLA 15th in the 1st Round. He did not turn out to even be a one year fix. "Kolton Miller" was a draft disaster.

Even when you get it right, OT's take time to adjust to the speed of the NFL game. Duane Brown, as good as he is now, was TERRIBLE his 1st year.

I am not against drafting an OT in the 1st round, in fact they ought to draft one in each of the 1st two rounds, because odds say you have to draft two to get one that is decent. I am VERY concerned that the Texans front office will think they are the smartest guys in the room like the Raiders front office last year and only draft one OT, and ending up with the 2019 version of "Kolton Miller".

As far as I am concerned, the Texans need to throw everything at this problem. They should have paid up for Trent Brown and picked a OT in the 1st round.

I suspect we will be seeing a lot of the same trash in 2019 that we saw last year. Max protecting with a bunch of sub-standard O-Linemen, with TE and RB staying in, all trying to keep Deshaun alive, while only 2 receivers go out in routes.

Nothing will really work in this Offense (or any other offense) until this O-Line gets fixed, Unfortunately I think the only reasonably sure answer to that problem (at least for this year), just signed with Oakland.

This is my argument more eloquently stated than I ever could have. In a way I want to see Watson get his neck broken to prove a point.

The arrogance, or cheapness of this org deserves what they get at this point.

Unless you believe that Devlin is on the level of HOF'er Gibbs. LMFAO

Between you me and the walls, Thomas suffered a clean single break of his tibial shaft.........no ligament damage.............rather than plating the fracture, a rod was placed through the shaft marrow across the fracture line [See Figure below]..............this approach (as opposed to the plate technique) all but ensures an excellent prognosis for return to pre-injury performance............with virtually no risk of re-fracture.

That is very good to hear. Thomas played while I was at UT...we've never seen anything near him in our secondary and he should still have a couple of great to elite years left in the tank.

Brown was a 7th round draft pick with one decent year. Quit acting like he was an All-American in college and has had an all-pro NFL career. If he was all that and a bag of chips, no way does BB let him walk.

It's kind of hard to blame the Texans for passing on making a player the highest paid at the position when they already have one that's graded out the same and is already on the roster.

i will say that i liked him alot coming out of college, he's a huge man who has been called fat ever since he came out of college. In truth he's he's a huge man that's very athletic and will have a short life span.

You're already jumping off the Gaine bandwagon?

Not at all, I think Gaine is very good at his job. I think the Texans will never win a damn thing until they change the way they do business. I actually had hope things might change with McNair dying and Gaine taking over as GM. But now we know how things are going to be. Cheapass bastards

Kareem gone to the Broncos. No clue what the plan actually seems to be right now. I know it's early in free agency but the top targets both internally and on the market are heading elsewhere. It's making me nervous.

I am not sure on this with age and injury history but at least it's a move in the right direction. If Mathieu contract was to high a ride awakening is coming Thomas wants to be highest paid safety.

Good for Mathieu

Thomas has about the same injury history as Mathieu.

Still doesn't mean they're not cheap bastatrds.

Hey Cal, choke on the wad your daddy left you.

I guess when it really comes down to it leaving a wad on your wife's stomach is best sometimes.

Lmao

Why would you when you are making biliions.
You’d think winning would factor in at that point. You’d think the McNairs would have been humbled by now by the mediocrity of this franchise. Instead, they have the hubris to think the “Texans Way” is successful when it isn’t. They think they’re the Patriots. The rest of the league laughs at this franchise.

Now people are starting to realize what I said yrs ago is true, as a esteemed congresswoman said recently

It's all about the Benjamin's baby.

Shitty night. I know there's more to follow and hopefully it will get better ,but it feels like we just lost a playoff game (again.)

Nope, the problem is just obrien.

Both crennel and kubiak were able to build very good defensive and offensive units. O'Brien continues to be a mess in all aspects.

Every team ends up spending around the salary cap.

You're kidding youself

Nope, we've seen domination from Kubiak, Wade, and Crennel led units.

If O'Brien wasn't such a joke in fixing the OL, finding good RB and TEs, plus building a good system, knowing time management BS, calling 4th downs properly, and understanding the challenge flag, we wouldn't be here. Not to mention throwing away multiple picks (Strong, Nix, Osweiler) plus way overpaying free agents (Jeff Allen, Osweiler).

I used to think this was on the GM.

But now I'm beginning think it's on BOB and what I will now affectionately refer to as the spawn #ownership Janice's mistake. Damn girl abortion was possible back then.

You're not even giving the new regime a chance. O'Brien/Gaine, full complement of draft picks, bunch of cap room.... Just wait & see. Things are changing on Kirby.
That's right. Because last year the team would have been much better if this regime had the 1st and 2nd round picks and Oz at QB instead of Watson. Need to give them AT LEAST 2 more years. Because Watson is still a "rookie".

I think ownership is a problem, but because they keep Rick and O'Brien around long after they've shown their incompetent, not because they won't spend money. Ownership has no idea how to hire the right people and build a front office.

I'm not going to disagree with you because the results are what they are.

But make no mistake, they are cheapass bastards.

So you are on the Steelb bandwagon now? Celebrating the deaths of Tiffany Smith and Bob McNair and rooting for Watson to have his neck broken, and I suppose for all McNair's to die?

I'll pass.

I jest. Chill the f out. We lost some starters and people are pissed. It's dark humor - get the stick out of your azz.

You jest, but Steelb doesn't. So don't endorse his views unless you want people to think you are the same ignorant hateful dumb*ss he is. Get your head out of your azz.

I do endorse some of his football views - especially about rick Smith. He's pissed and overboard tonight. Big deal. I made a connection about this teams future and a tv show. You made the jump to actual people and me happy about it.

This whole internet thing might be a bit much for you.
