Stole this from someone who posted a snippet from The Athletic, if you want you can pay for the full story I'm not going to lol

Beloved in the locker room and revered as a quiet leader, Thomas was the one who stayed behind at practice to coach up the rookies. He was that one to pull newcomers aside to show them the ropes. He was the one to keep an even keel when the Broncos’ performance and record over the last couple of years plummeted.

"I love D.T.," cornerback Chris Harris Jr. said. "He’s been a great teammate to me and we’ve had great competition for eight years that I’ve been here. I know he’s going out there and he’s giving it his all. I’ve won a lot of games with him, so I know I can continue to win them with him."

Drafted in the first round (No. 22) in 2010 out of Georgia Tech. Among his many achievements that will surely land him in the Broncos’ Ring of Fame:
  • His 125 consecutive games played ranks fourth in the NFL among non-quarterbacks.
  • He was the fastest receiver in Broncos history to record 600 catches, needing only 112 games.
  • He recorded five consecutive seasons with at least 90 catches and 1,000 receiving yards. Those five 1,000-yard seasons rank as the second-most in Broncos history.
  • His 665 career receptions with the Broncos rank as the third-most on the Broncos’ all-time list. Ten more and he would have tied Shannon Sharpe for second place.
  • His 9,055 receiving yards rank No. 2 on the Broncos’ all-time list.
  • His 60 receiving touchdowns also rank No. 2 on the Broncos’ all-time list.
  • And his 36 100-yard receiving are tops in Broncos history.
Thomas is Certified 'Texans Worthy'

I am Robert C. McNair

and I approve of this trade.

We assume that Thomas is no longer a deep threat, because he hasn't been for the past 4 seasons. That makes sense, Thomas is 31 and in his 9th season. The last season Thomas averaged over 14 ypc was 2014. Which coincidentally was Peyton Manning's last healthy season. Since 2014, Thomas has caught passes from:

An unhealthy Peyton Manning
Brock Osweiler
Trevor Siemian
Paxton Lynch
Case Keenum

Now, Thomas will lineup with Deshaun Watson behind center. One of the premier deep passers in the league. Does Thomas have any ability left to get downfield? I don't know, for sure. But, I think we will get the chance to find out.

More importantly... he will catch passes from a guy who is proving to be an accurate passer. This is what excites me about the Demariyus trade.

.@Mathieu_Era on playing against Demaryius Thomas when Mathieu was with the Arizona Cardinals: 'He had 150 yards by halftime. It was a long day for us. Big body, physical receiver. It will be exciting to see what he does for us this year.'

@Mathieu_Era on Demaryius Thomas trade: 'I think it says they want to win right now. Obviously, that speaks volumes in our locker room. I think it's important to try to add pieces to help your team win.'

Someone explain why the swap of 7th rd picks was necessary

....or advantageous to either team.

I don't get that part

Although it has been reported that the Texans and Broncos have traded 7th round picks, I can find no source that reflects a trade of 7th round picks...................only a Broncos 7th round pick going to the Texans. Only 1 of several up to date sources:

https://www.prosportstransactions.com/football/DraftTrades/Future/Broncos.htm
Seems to confirm swap

Traded • Demaryius Thomas • 2019 seventh round pick (?-?) to Texans for • 2019 fourth round pick (?-?) • 2019 seventh round pick (?-?) on 2018-10-30

We have triple Ds.

Deshaun
DeAndre
Demarius

Too bad we don’t have D. White any more.

Then we would have D. White Triple Ds.

Maybe we can find - player named D. Black...

What's the point in exchanging the 7th round picks?
The one we are receiving obviously should be a bit more valuable than the one we are sending because we expect the Broncos to be picking higher than us.
Apparently a minor concession Gaine wanted from Elway to consummate the deal.

I honestly never care about 4-7 round picks anyway. As far as i'm concerned they're throwaway picks. Besides we have an extra second so we really don't even lose in terms of total # of picks.
You could use a 3rd/4th to trade back into the 2nd.

But I really like this pick. Thomas is one thing the rest of the Texans WR's aren't (Durable) excluding Hopkins.

I saw him catch a deep jump ball against the Jets a couple of weeks ago. He may not be as fast as he used to be, but defenses still have to respect DT. He's also a huge upgrade as a blocker in the run game.

But it's not the Broncos' (original) pick we are getting. The way I read it, and I'm not sure about this, it appears to be conditionally either the Giants or Rams pick. That means, using current standings, we would get the first pick of the 7th rd (Giants) or Mr. Irrelevant (Rams).

If this is true, then now I'm confused about the purpose of swapping 7th's.

If this is not correct, is it possible our pick is conditional, and that we may not get a 7th in return?

I like the trade, we had an extra 4th to play with anyway and the WR core was getting a tad thin. Personally, I don't give a crap about the 7th round picks, they're no more or no less worthy than a UDFA anyway.

Can anyone elaborate on the lingering effects of DT's slight tear in his hip labrum from the past? Supposedly he still suffered from it in preseason this year and has been playing though it.

Everyone involved in the Texans-Broncos trade
You have to like this trade for the Texans, who needed receiver help after losingWill Fullerto injury last week. They got an experienced guy known as a strong locker room presence who will help keep at least some attention away fromDeAndre Hopkins. You have to like it for Denver, which drafted two receivers this year (Courtland SuttonandDaeSean Hamilton) knowing it wasn't bringing back Thomas for $14 million in 2019. And you have to like it for Thomas, who goes from a Broncos team that's four games behind a first-place Chiefs team it has lost to twice to a first-place Texans team that has won five games in a row. Everybody wins here.

You may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one
I feel like they needed help at WR having lost Fuller and who knows if Coutee is going to get healthy and stay healthy.

DTs contract worries me somewhat that we might have spent a 4th on an 8 game rental but I guess we see ourselves as in contention right now and he will be necessary in those 8 games.

Hoping he has enough left to be able to capitalise on single coverages and lesser CBs.

Watson is throwing the ball better and better so he should be able to put up some numbers to justify the contract.

He's still put up numbers comparable to Fuller's and hasn't missed a game in his career. I think the injury is probably a minor one. With that said his hip could be out of joint and the Texans medical staff probably wouldn't catch it during his physical.

Keep it Movin!
Fuller can be close to Fuller as long has he mostly sticks to straight ahead speed which should not be affected. What will be limited for a while in 2019 is his ability to cut........his routes will be more limited.
My eyes tell me Fuller has been better in his route running this yr. If all he can do is run a 9 route, it cuts his effectiveness. The fact his speed opens up a comeback route is huge. You're the resident doctor, so you know better than I do.
