NFL Random Thought of the Day

Browns tried some Bill O'Brien bitchmade bullshit with that punt instead of going for the kill on 4th and 2. Worked out for them though.

Congrats to Hue Jackson also!

Talk about a head coach that deserves to win some games.

But don't overthink it. Baker Mayfield is the real deal!
Tyrod Taylor sucks. It's pretty obvious who should start.

Even though the Browns finally win a game, these all brown uniforms are hideous.
Yeah, that Tootsie Roll look (I could think of other descriptions) is NOT a good look.
I didn't think anything could look worse than our ketchup bottle look, but I was wrong.

Still, neither is as bad as the Steelers' bumblebee unis.

Here’s the closest video you’ll see of Marcus Mariota and his throwing hand glove along with some passes from today. OC Matt LaFleur said 8 looked as good today in practice as he’s looked since the injury. #Titans

PIC OF MARIOTA'S "GLOVE"

7:18 PM - 20 Sep 2018 from Nashville, TN

Looks like Mariota must have some extent of an ulnar claw hand deformity. Ulnar claw hand is an abnormal hand position that develops due to injury of the ulnar nerve. A hand in the ulnar claw position will have the 4th and 5th fingers extended at the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joints and flexed at the interphalangeal (IP) joints .

The problem is 2-fold. The ulnar nerve controls the thumbs ability to move towards meeting the fingers for gripping purposes. But the problem goes even further in that the ulnar nerve deficit leaves him unable to open (extend) his 4th and 5th digits to accept the ball. The type of glove that he is wearing is not so much for grip friction, but evidently has a built-in splint to maintain the affected digits in a more extended position so that he can accept the ball in his hand to begin with.

After all the Colts IRs I've posted so far.............this Sunday, the Colts have listed 6 players on their Injury Report as out.........defensive lineman Denico Autry, left tackle Antony Castonzo, tight end Jack Doyle, running back Marion Mack, defensive lineman Hassan Ridgeway and cornerback Quincy Wilson.

For whoever may have missed it, here's the real story about Josh Gordon and the reason for his trade.

*****************************************************************************************

The Cleveland Browns decided to finally part ways with Josh Gordon this weekend after standing behind him since 2012. One of the reasons they decided to move on was because he had reportedly broken the team’s trust, a notion at which Gordon scoffed.

Now we have a clearer picture of how Gordon broke the team’s trust.

The Athletic’s Zac Jackson reported in great detail about the promotional shoot Gordon did that led to his hamstring injury.

Here’s what happened, according to Jackson:

Gordon was granted permission by the Browns to conduct a photo shoot for his “Flash” clothing line Friday evening, but instead, he was participating in the filming of what one source called a “hype video” intended to be released as a social-media commercial. At least five other people were present as Gordon went through football-related drills, and after about 90 minutes of shooting Friday, the source said Gordon pulled up limping while running a 40-yard dash and grabbed at his hamstring.

When Gordon showed up at the team’s facility on Saturday, he was said to have been 10 minutes late for a team meeting and went to the training room. The trainers declared him out for Sunday due to the hamstring injury.

This explains how Gordon was suddenly declared out on Saturday after going through the whole week of practice without appearing on the injury report. Gordon dealt with a hamstring injury before the regular season and was supposed to be on a limited snap count for the opener, though he ultimately played nearly 70 snaps. Still, it sounds like Gordon got hurt on his own time after misleading the team about what sort of activity he sought to do. link

What's the most surprising result of this weekend?

- A wounded Mariota leading the Titans over the Jags in Jacksonville?

- The Lions handling the Patriots (the Hoodie loses to a former assistant?)

- Bills (the BILLS!) beat Vikes (and their very expensive Keenum replacement unit) in Minnesota.

- Browns end their losing streak!

Garrapola tore his ACL. Has not been confirmed yet by MRI (will be performed sometime today)........but I will go ahead and call it...........ACL #34.

Hopefully Fitzmagic continues his magic tonight. Amazing how O'B managed to turn Watson into the Fitz that sucked here in Houston.

With the NFL's concern about concussions, I wonder when they will create rules to protect against ACL injuries.

The bolded red is why you just CAN'T bet on the NFL....

Can Clay Matthews be suspended? The dude is drawing a roughing the passer penalty once or twice a game it seems like. I don't agree with it but the rules are the rules!

Maybe the NFL will take a good hard look at re-adjusting that rule next off-season, but for this 2018 season expect to see those flags being thrown at a record pace all around the league.

Titans continue to have big problems.................Gabbert in the Concusion Protocol and doubtful to make it out by Sunday...........Mariota still having significant ulnar nerve problem.............Austin Davis being signed and could be the starter................the Titans placed OT Kevin Pamphile on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury ahead of their game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday

Nope. Lifting the player off the turf is ILLEGAL!

Also there's the "hands near the head/neck area" thing that may
be called at the referee's discretion

then, how the heck did they beat the Jags
:smiliepalm:

Broncos TE Jake Butt has suffered a noncontact left ACL...........he has a history of a right knee ACL tears at Michigan in 2014 and 2016..................ACL #37

It's reported that the 3rd ACL that Broncos TE suffered was sustained during a "walk-through practice." One unlucky guy, as a walk-through practice is the football equivalent of a dance class, with players standing around without pads or helmets and walking through plays.

Ever have trouble sleeping?... Just listen to Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth call a football game. Snore fest.

Al Michaels is a lot better than he used to be when he first broke in on MNF... Cris Collinsworth has never even approached mediocre
