NFL Random Thought of the Day

Freeman had SIX carries. Just crazy.

Falcons haven't gotten over young Shanny leaving; play calling is atrocious.
They sit Julio in goal situations, hardly run PA on 1st and goal, and give up on the run. It's crazy talk.
Like you said, Freeman had six carries and averaged 6 ypc. 100% I'd play action and toss an easy lob to Julio in the corner...but I'm not the Falcons OC.

They sit Julio in goal situations,
I couldn't for the life of me figure out why he wasn't in the game when they got down to the 1 yd line on that first drive. I thought maybe he was hurt, but nooooo. He just wasn't in there. Maybe Ryan should call his own plays, because Sarkisian and him aren't on the same page I don't think.

I feel like I'm still watching the preseason.
You were.
Remember, back in the day, this used to be preseason game #5.

I fear that the Texans' offense will come out just as flat and sad looking as the Falcons did (and the Eagles too, at first)
It's not like O'Brien gave the ones a whole bunch of quality preseason snaps this preseason.

It's not like we had a whole bunch of quality preseason snaps this year from the ones.

Yeah we could get first start Bengals game from Watson Sunday. Who knows.

The 2 pre-season games were bad enough. Now we get poor quality early in the regular season because these guys aren't playing in August. Getting harder to justify hanging onto these season tickets.

With the meager prep by the starters, I have 2 concerns............organizational chaos due to trying to bypass the chemistry-building stage.........secondly, injury numbers potentially trying to make up for the lower numbers that not playing was to minimize (falsely).

Practicing Madden does not make a player better in a game. Minimizing practicing anything short of real-time doesn't make anyone what they should be when the bullets start flying.

Couldn't agree more.

Desmond Harrison = starting LT for the Browns,

XTR liked him.

Should've been a late rd Texans pick

# Not Texans worthy

Am I the only one to not hear that ESPN dumped John Clayton?

I knew something was missing from this football season.

Aaron Rodgers just went into the medical tent with apparent leg injury.
Looked like an MCL to me. He had his leg outstretched and the defender landed right on the outside of his left knee....stressing the inside (MCL). If so, and it's a Grade !-2, could return as soon as within the next 2 week in a brace.Have to wait for MRI. BTW, it was the leg he previously had ACL repair in college.

Damn, that's bad news for the Pack. Rodgers' understudy isn't ready. Hope it's no worse than Grade 2

in related news....
Bears don't look
quite so silly for giving Mack that contract, do they?

He's back!
Must not have been very bad after all.

edit:
They just showed a close up of what looks like a brace under his uni.
He is wearing a knee brace. At the 3rd Q at 1 min 26 secs, you can see the upper portion of the brace through the yellow pants from the front when he's tying his shoe and shortly thereafter from the back when he's in the huddle again..................it was indeed an MCL, and he's trying to play through it.

Stafford has already sustained 2 ACL ruptures in his career. Watch this play where his own Olineman kicks him in the knee................his knee grotesquely hyperextends..........a common mechanism for an ACL tear. He is still limping. He may make it through the game, but I wonder if later on this week, he is reported to have a tear. Meanwhile, his accuracy seems to be significantly affected.

Stafford is maintaining his "pointing foot" gingerly on the ground.......not a solid base for passing.....and certainly something that affects accuracy of where the ball goes. Very likely due to pain in his hyperextended knee.

Matthew Stafford sucks or what?
Talk about being grossly overpaid!

1:45 left in the third quarter...
Lions fans already heading for the exits.

They keep showing the faces of the Detroit fans in the stands.

I know the feeling.

The Raiders defense looks energetic and motivated. Somebody should remind them they no longer have All Pro Khalil Mack! Also Derek Carr and the Raiders offense looks legit. Jon Gruden knows how to coach.

Panthers OT Daryl Williams is finally giving in and is scheduled for knee surgery on his knee.

From a previous post.......July 28:
Looks like Panthers' RT Daryl Williams is going to try to rehab his MCL/patellar dislocation and essentially limp through this season trying to avoid the inevitable. Don't believe a very wise decision. It didn't work out very well with the Redskins' OT Trent Williams who tried the same last season with predictable results.......poor performance and offseason Jan knee surgery.
