John Dorsey is a savvy, and experienced NFL GM and I like his moves in the Browns Draft on taking the best CB or the best edge guy over the best RB on his Board. I'm just one of those folks who think backs are a dime a dozen while stud corners and edge-rushers are definitly not.
And on his pick at QB that was of course the big decision, the one that will be the most consequential for the Browns just like his pick pick of QB Patrick MaHomes in 2017 will be for the KC Chiefs when he was their GM. Like everybody else gonna have to wait and see how the Sooner QB and Mahomes careers play out in the NFL ?

Mayfield, in my opinion, was head and shoulders above the other QBs in this draft and Ward was the best man cover corner in the draft and that was a higher "need" position that edge rusher since they already have Myles Garrett. I've seen too many high draft pick OL turn into busts. After 20 years, the Browns finally appear to have a franchise QB and a potential lock down CB to boot and both have 5th year options.

2017 was not at all kind to Murray as far as injuries. There is good reason for why this 30 year old RB had a very lackluster season. Jan began with a foot plantar plate (fascia) tear for which he elected to avoid surgery. Early June led to delayed, but much needed ring finger surgery. Early Aug, he suffered a hamstring tear. It then followed him throughout the regular season with repeated re-injury. Oct brought on a shoulder injury. Then, he sustained a knee injury the beginning of Nov and played through it, until the last week in Dec when he went on to sustain a Grade III MCL tear. Why he wasn't IR'ed this late in the season I don't know. With that injury, there was no way he was going to return to play, even in the playoffs. In fact, he never was able to even practice before the Titans closed out their playoff run Jan 13.

I agree 100% except for AP.
Saving money and getting rid of Brock for 2nd was idiotic. Maybe why Rick no longer here.
Everyone here knows Nick Chubb was taken with that draft choice.
Our best bet is to pick up or trade with a team that is heavy in RBs. No superstar but better than AP and very possibly what we have if Foreman not 100%.

I also think we will be crying the blues in reference to WR and TEs.

I do think our final roster will include 4 or more players not even with us yet.

I hope.
 
Can’t find the FA RB talk -

But I did see some mention about DeMarco Murray. I would like to see him added. I think he is asking too much though. Would be a good number 2 behind Miller and insurance for Foreman. He is an older RB, but we aren’t asking him to be #1 RB.

He must be asking too much because he hasn’t signed.

These injuries resulted in Murray averaging less than 3 yds/c after week 5 (after posting ~ 4.6 yds/c in the 1st 5 weeks). He's 30 years old, and is showing what RBs show when they are about to fall off the map.

I'm looking at the NYJ's/Philly/Pats as cutting productive RB's. You could probably pickup a good RB for a late rd pick.

The guy I absolutely would love to see Gaine pickup is Elijah McGuire. That guy is a stud. Which means he probably wont be made available.

When will we find out who gets selected in the supplemental draft?

The supplemental draft begins at 1 PM EST. There are 7 rounds, with max alotted decision-making time for each round being 10 minutes. Therefore, by 70 minutes after 1 PM (12 PM our time), we ought to know the results. It's interesting to note that this draft is conducted entirely via email and texts.

He had a career-low 659 rushing yards and tied for a career low with 3.6 yards per carry in 2017, primarily due to injuries and a lack of explosiveness. He failed to reach 1,000 yards from scrimmage for the first time since 2012.

It was last year's multiple significant injuries took their final toll, "mentally" and "emotionally."

McNair was desperate and ticked off at that position. Just shows even billionaires tends to make unprecedented hasty decisions from time to time.
 
What's the Texans current cap space look like? Just wondering because superstar running back Le'Veon Bell and the Steelers failed to reach a long-term deal today. Which prompted his agent to say that 2018 is likely his last season playing for the Steelers.

My curiosity had gotten the better of me and I wanted to know if the Houston Texans would have enough cap space to offer Le'Veon Bell a lucrative multi-year deal next off-season?

Or is it just a pipe dream to envision Le'Veon Bell as a Texan? He's 26 years old so there's reason to believe he could still play at a high level for the entire duration of one more big contract.

They have plenty of money to burn...

I know that Steelbtexan trashes the organization for not signing Solder to a absolutely ridiculous contract offer, but 6 months from now that missed opportunity will prove to be a godsend... he was already showing signs of decline last season and in no world is he worth that contract.

For Christ's sake he was contemplating retirement before signing that contract and he saved us a crap ton of cap space by not signing that offer.
