2018 TT Mock Draft Selection Thread

Ok folks, the full draft order is up in the results thread. I'll work on getting the members identified.

We'll start back up Monday at 8 am officially, but hopefully folks will check in and a few picks will get made over the weekend.

And I so did not want to do more than watch this year.
Ill gladly pick for the Browns, Washington and Zona.

disregard...i thought we were starting over for a split second but i got it now

I am assuming Pharoahcious is taking his diaper and going home. So I’m listing those as group picks. If he expresses he will behave and pick that's fine. If anyone else wants to take on another team, that's fine too.

But did you see his video? That's hot stuff there.

No worries. Right now I have Tampa, Washington and Zona.
I can pick up the 49ers. And if he returns that they're his.

I'd be glad to take a team if I could get extended hours or lots of advance hours notice

Technically, Buffalo's clock expired at 6:13 PM yesterday. We could either move on or make a special allowance due to the fact that yesterday was a holiday and there were other factors muddying this thing up.

I think I have all the names attached to the team's now. Please look it over and point out any mistakes.

Did someone have KC? - who?

For the 3rd time, we're not starting over.

That despite your unrealistic picks throwing the whole thing off. But that's JMO.

Damn, why even run one of these Mock's if everyone is supposed to pick according to the popular vote? Why not just copy and paste your favorite writers Mock instead of involving everyone else.

Last I remember, I didn't need your advice on my picks either. If you think this has f'd with your mind, you'd probably go into cardiac arrest if you were on the same Blackjack Table as me....I play to win not to execute political correctness.

Why are these picks unrealistic? Someone on this board wants Barkley and McGlinchey more than I do?

I'm not upset. I don't have a team in the mock draft. But you sure seem upset about a little criticism.

Last I checked a mock was an attempt to predict. Didn't suggest any consensus. My comment was after the picks.

Is there something you're unclear about with the definition of "unrealistic?" The Browns are going to take a QB #1. They might take Barkley #4. More likely is Chubb.

But hey, they're your picks. Didn't even give you an option to change them much less encourage you to do so.

And by the way, only one RB has been taken at 1.1 since Bo Jackson in 1986 and that's Ki-Jana Carter in 1995. Yes, unrealistic.

Dang, I like Barkley better than both of them. By the way, I'm not going to look it up, but how many QB's were drafted RD1-01 and then assigned as the backup for their first season? Cleveland also announced that if they were to take a QB, he would sit for a season after the signing of Tyrod Taylor. I could easily prioritize putting some weapons around Taylor for the maximum opportunity of success.

Who cares what you can rationalize, they're taking a QB #1.

Do you read your own shite? This has nothing to do with what the Browns will be doing...that'll be determined in the actual 2018 NFL Draft.

This little exercise is the message boards, TT "MOCK" Draft. I view their needs differently and this is how I would approach the draft. Since I'm simulating the War Room position of Cleveland and the Jets, it's my opinion. If your opinion is the only one that counts....in your mind....then, by all means, you can stick it right back up the orfice from which it came. Just saying, cowboy.

By the way, Happy Easter.

Hold up cak - there are plenty of expert pundits who have Browns taking Barkley first.
They still hold the fourth pick which means they still get to pick one of the 3 top QB's in this draft as only two will be off the board - barring trades.
They could trade back 6 spots with their 4th and still get a good one.

Plenty - nice vague term. According to this compilation it is a very small percentage and most of those prior to the Browns' statement of intent.

Don't care, the Browns have said they are going QB #1.

This is beating a dead horse.

Bills select Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma.

NFL Comparison
Doug Flutie

Bottom Line
Spread quarterbacks have had limited success as have small quarterbacks. Mayfield falls into both categories and has to prove he can transcend those perceived deficiencies on the next level. Having complete command of the Oklahoma offense isn't an automatic precursor for NFL success, but Mayfield's ability to process, extend plays and throw with accuracy give him a good shot. He'll be somewhat scheme-dependent so whoever takes him will need to be willing to build their offense around his strengths.

With the 13th pick in the 2018 draft Washington selects:

Maurice Hurst - DT - Michigan

My take:

Washington has been looking to improve their front 7.
Hurst is not the run stopper that they "need" but he's an elite disruptor in the middle.
He may not have a natural home in Washington's base 34.
But defenses are only in base defense ~30-40% of the time in the modern NFL.
Hurst is the type of talent that a smart D-coordinator will tweak there scheme in base defense to protect.
Hurst will make his money on passing downs.
Paired with Jonathan Allen; Washington believes they have built one of best pass rush front 4's in the NFL- Ryan Kerrigan-Jonathan Allen-Maurice Hurst-Preston Smith

With the 14th pick the Green Bay Packers select:

DE - MARCUS DAVENPORT

TEXAS-SAN ANTONIO CONFERENCE USA

NFL COMPARISON
Danielle Hunter

BOTTOM LINE
Davenport packed on 30 pounds from his sophomore to senior season and has the frame to continue getting bigger and stronger. While he's been a stand-up rusher at UTSA, teams may see him as a 4-3 defensive end. Right now Davenport is more of a flash player than a consistent menace, but he showed flashes at the Senior Bowl of being able to take a substantial step forward with more time.

Arizona is a group pick unless someone wants to jump in and take the team.

So let's hear some suggestions.
I requested to pick for Zona in the previous iteration of this mock draft.
I would be more then willing to pick for them.

If its okay Zona pick will be coming soon after acknowledgement of this post...if its cool.

with the 15th pick an Arizona Cardinals official breathlessly sprints to turn the card in, select:
628988362.jpg

Lamar Jackson, QB - Lousiville

My take:
Inspired by the Houston Texan's and Deshaun Watson success the Cardinals bring in a young dynamic playmaker as their QB of the future.

^^Jim Mora @ 1:20

My take cont.
Offensive coordinator Mike McCoy comes from the Erhardt-Perkins school of offense, same as coach OB.
McCoy found a good mesh with Lamar as their offensive schemes match with the Erhardt-Perkins scheme at Louisville coached Bobby Petrino.

@ 4:26 HC Wilks

My take fin:
The scouting department (me) was worried their guy would slip away and considered trading up just in case the Chargers or Saints jumped them. But they held their water and were still able to get their guy.

Coaches we were worried about:

Now that's what I'm talkin about!
Don't think I could match it though.

Ravens are in a tough spot here. It's very tempting to go after Allen because the Ravens need a successor to Joe Flacco but I'm also not fully sold on him as a legit franchise QB. Ton of physical talent but a lot of concern about his accuracy and production in college. So with that said...

The Baltimore Ravens select Derwin James - S, Florida State

James is one of the truly elite prospects in this draft along with Barkley, Chubb, and Nelson. He is an absolute game changer on the back end of the defense, but also has the versatility to come down into the box and excel as a Nickel Safety or Dime LB and has all the intangibles to be a team leader early in his career. Safety is not really a need for Baltimore but James is a top 5 prospect in this draft and I just cannot pass on an elite prospect when he's fallen into my lap.

I was gone out of town when this draft started. Sam Rayburn, unexpected trip and I couldn't get service where I was staying. I thought I threw the whole draft off by missing my picks. Just got back today, just opened up my computer to look at this draft and damn! What in the world happened?

Jersey Shores briefly infested TT.com.

All the team's have owners now except group pick for the Texans so things should roll.

New rule. If you miss your time slot, it moves on to the next team. You come back and make your pick whenever from whoever has not been picked. Just like the NFL draft.

Slows the whole thing down too much to wait a whole time period then have another trying to make a group pick.

I have no team so folks are free to send me a pick or a list ahead of time.
