2018 TT Mock Draft Selection Thread

As for the Browns, if they hadn't gotten Tyrod Taylor...QB is the number one priority. In this situation, QB is a priority but giving Taylor weapons and protection should be the top priority now since the Browns have no intentions of starting any QB they draft in 2018. With the right situation and team around him, Taylor could surprise a lot of folks.

You're over-stating this. They have declared Taylor the start of the season, not throughout the season. They absolutely intend to find their franchise QB with the 1st pick in the draft.

And plans change generally in favor of the high drafted rook. The Jags planned on Bortles sitting a year. The Texans planned on Banks starting instead of Carr.

With the 32nd pick in the 2018 TT MOCK Draft, the World Champion, Philadelphia Eagles select -

Dallas (ironically named after the Cowboys, but grew up a Packers fan) Goedert, TE South Dakota State, 6-5 256.

Eagles are minus two TE's off last years Championship roster, releasing Celek and losing Trey Burton in Free Agency. This leaves only Ertz, who when injured, there has been a notable drop off in offensive production. Goedert, like another Dallas (Clarke) has soft hands (10") and long arms is a mismatch nightmare, his movement skills are all there to be elite just needs coached up, excellent mentor in Ertz and new weapon for North Dakota State alum Wentz. Also affords some salary cap protection when Ertz does test free agency if Eagles unable to lock him up. There is certainly risk involved with this pick, coming from FCS small school against lesser competition, steep learning curve but high IQ and ceiling.

That's the part I can't imagine. QBs are undervalued routinely in the TT mock drafts. Mainly because the GMs here don't have to answer to owners complaining about not having a good QB.

Worked out for the Jags :)

I think he’ll have a Jeff George career... teams will keep giving him a chance due to his arm strength.

However his ceiling is too high to pass up when you have no glaring needs.

It's the Browns. Otto Graham is not coming out of retirement again. So, QB should still be their #1 priority - Taylor is just a bridge guy. They do have a sorry history of having high picks but waiting until pick 22 to get a Quinn, Weeden, or Manziel. Maybe you are right and they will continue to be a crummy franchise, but it seems Dorsey wants to give them a chance to be better, so he will draft a QB. Before pick #22.

George had a big arm, but more of a flat trajectory. Allen has more of a Bradshaw type arm that can get the ball downfield on an arc. I have to admit, I would have gone Barkley #1 and Allen #4 if I had the Browns.

Best TE in the draft, IMO. The only one worth a 1st rounder. Great pick.

2.1 (33). Cleveland Browns - @OptimisticTexan is on.

@banned1976 make a 1.31 pick when you get here.

Sorry, I have a lot on my mind. About to buy a place on Sam Rayburn, just purchased a beautiful Bass Cat so I've been messing around with that today.

OK, so I debated the New England Pats 1st round pick between a CB and an OT. OT was taken care of earlier for me so without further ado...with the 31st pick in the 2018 NFL draft the New England Patriots select Mike Hughes, CB out of UCF. He has some work ahead of him but while he's learning the nuances of being an NFL starting caliber CB he is a tremendous return man and explosive play maker.

Would be pretty happy as a Browns fan if Optimistic added Mason Rudolph to Saquon and a LT.

The clock for pick #33 expired at 6:03. I suppose that means we move on to #34?

Cleveland GM can still pick whenever he logs on.

Sorry guys...I'm +7 hours ahead of you guys. I waited for the picks 31 & 32 to be posted but gave up and went to bed. It is now 0738 here in Italy and with the RD2-01-33 pick, Cleveland Browns select:

CB, Jaire Alexander / 5-10 @ 196 lbs / JA put down a 4.3-40 after missing games in 2017 due to knee and hand injuries. After that time, might be safe to say his knee will be ready for camp. Guy is twitchy fast, hits with authority and has a nose for the ball. He might've been considered the number one CB in this draft if not for the injuries. JA can also be effective in returning both punts and kicks.

With the 34th pick the New York Giants select James Daniels - C, Iowa

The Giants already selected their QB of the future in the 1st round in Sam Darnold and now they move to protect their future signal caller. With the losses of Justin Pugh and Weston Richburg in Free Agency the Giants have a huge hole in the interior of their O-Line. Daniels is an elite athlete who plays with great technique and awareness but who needs to get a bit stronger in his base to help get more push in the power run game. However, he is a great pass protector which will greatly benefit the immobile Eli Manning and young Darnold. He can also move out to Guard in a pinch so he offers great versatility across the interior.

Sorry, had a pm.

2.3 OptimisticTexan selects QB, Mason Randolph- Oklahoma State

2.4 (36). Indianapolis Colts - Texansballer74 is up.

OK folks, I drafted Mason Rudolph (6-5 @ 235 lbs) of Oklahoma State...so the Browns finally have their QB for the future. He could get a season or two as QB2 if Tyrod Taylor's first season as a bridge QB1 is somewhat successful. This is really a perfect fit for MR since he will be under no immediate pressure to produce....but he will be under pressure to learn the nuances of being an NFL QB.

Lol. Wow. Passed on QB with both of the top 4 picks.

Almost passed on QB again too if it wasn't for group pick. You're just not about these QBs I guess.

Gotta get some type of confirmation or im just picking out of turn

I guess you can wait but we're on a 4 hour clock and the previous GM has been on the clock for 12 hours. @infantrycak already established the rule that when your clock runs out the next guy can step in and pick. It's already happened a few times since.

Right. But the commish has been the one letting people know when it was safe to pick or extending the time for the guy on the clock.

I would hate to pick and have it not count or something

I've helped moderate this draft for about five years now so I'm pretty sure I know exactly where he's going to stand on this.

But if you don't feel comfortable then my advice would be to PM your pick to him so he can make it for you in the morning.

Cak isn't going to bust balls over this. Get your pick in. Bah007 is right, the other dude had his chance.

IND had two picks in a row but @Texansballer74 was on the clock for 12 hours and made no pick.

Can we put TB and @edromeo on the clock with pick #38?
I saw @Texansballer74 online and PMed him, but no response. He has said that he works nights and might make his picks when he gets home. But yeah, let @edromeo make his pick. I have the @gs27 pick for the Bears. We can start off tomorrow with @tomjn80 and the Broncos.

I don't understand why it's apparently so difficult for the majority of posters to just PM their selection if they are going to be up in the next few picks and aren't sure if they will be around.

With pick #39, the Chicago Bears select Billy Price - OG/C - Ohio State.

Per @gs27 - "RG is biggest need for Bears IMO and Price absolutely dominated at that position before moving to center."

You missed that thought by a mile. I was for a QB...just not the one's everyone else expected me to select. I had Rudolph as my target from the get-go. I actually like him as much as any of the other guys and he just fell into my lap in RD2. I got 3 solid answers for this team, who will be starting this season....this QB will get some development time behind a very capable Tyrod Taylor.

I've addressed the Browns pressing needs in 4 picks: RB- Barkley, LT- McGlinchey, CB- Alexander and QB- Rudolph...but I'm not done:)

The problem in the actual draft is that teams don't have that 5th year option to pickup on 2nd round picks. It forces a long term decision on a young QB a year early. If a team really believes in a QB, they need to take him in the 1st.

Man why are you explaining yourself? Tyrod was a great pickup by the Browns. He will be their starter for years to come. They did good in FA. So your picks are pretty darn good.

Tampa is very happy to draft Nick Chubb. Chubb is the best pure running back on our draft board. His combination of size and speed is exactly what Dirk's offense has been missing.

We look forward to seeing plays like this in the Buccaneer backfield:

With the 41st pick, the Las Vegas/Oakland Raiders select - Kolton Miller, OT - UCLA

AP_17247192971609.jpg

Miller, a RS Junior, just finished his first season as a full time starter at LT. He had a total of 10 starts at RT in his Freshman and Sophomore seasons. The Raiders are implementing Gruden's ZBS, and Miller's quickness and ability to get to the 2nd level are good fits. Miller is a still developing pass blocker who has had issues with speed on the edge. While Miller may end up at RT, I think his footwork can be corrected and become a solid LT. Has a Nate Solder type vibe.

I thought DJ Chark would last till the next time I was up. I was debating between him and a TE.

With the 45th pick the Packers select:

EQUANIMEOUS ST. BROWN
NOTRE DAME
WR

Nelson's replacement - tall, fast, runs good routes and I think he would have shown more in college with better QB play at ND. My sleeper pick, I like the kid and him and his brothers/family have an interesting story.

NFL.COM Profile

St. Brown's combination of size and speed will be coveted by offenses looking for a prospect who can create throwing windows down the field with his ability to separate as the route progresses. St. Brown's competitive nature needs to improve as does his play strength to elude early pressure from physical cornerbacks. He has never been a volume target and has just three 100-yard games in his career. At this stage, St. Brown is more of a threat than a weapon and his ceiling may be an average starter or WR3.

Bengals and @Texansballer74 are on the clock
