To be honest, does anyone on here really think, if the Texans kept DB, that he would've had the same impact here that he's having in Seattle? I don't. Oh sure, maybe they could've won another game with him here but do you really think, with the team in the condition it's in now, they would have somehow made it to the playoffs with DB on the team? No, I think this was best for the Texans (though it doesn't look like it now) and best for DB. I wish only the best for Duane and the Seahawks. Now, RS, BOB, and Staff have to go out there and do their jobs and get the best players they can with the 2 picks they got for Brown!
If you think about it, this was a very "Belicheatian" (if there could ever be such a word) thing to do. Belichick does this type of thing all the time when a player is getting older and starts to demand things. Schwaaak! Their gone! And, he usually gets a draft pick or 2 in return to help replenish the team. If a NE player was holding out for 6 games, like DB did, do you think he would still be on the team? OK, maybe if it was Brady. But, I still don't think Belichick would put up with it for long. It's common sense really. When a good player gets up there in years you know there will be some "diminishing returns" and you know soon there will come a point in time where you won't be able to trade him. Then now is the time to make a trade and get some value out of the player. It's a cold ruthless business this NFL but that's just the way it is and the players know it. I can't cry for a man that gets to play a kids game and be paid a lot of money to do it even if it's only for a few years. If they've made it to the NFL then they know they've done something only a small number of people in this country ever get to do. So, congratulations Duane Brown on your success in Seattle! The trade worked out well for you. I just hope it works out well for the Texans too!
