Duane Brown traded to Seahawks

Specifics v. generality is the difference. Mr. Tex is treating this like some generic football discussion. But it's not. It’s the Texans with Miller, this OL, Watson. Calls that might make sense for most teams are stupid for the Texans.

It's a numbers game. 99 out of 100 times we won't pick up those yards. But that one time...

It might be the eight time you run it, it might be the 88th time. You never really know. So you just close your eyes, grab your cheeks & ram it up in there & hope for the best.

Now that Watson is injured, pretty obvious the Brown trade was a good deal for Texans. Need to stockpile picks and build for the future. Texans are a "next year" team after losing Watson, JJ and Mercilus.

Somebody tell Savage you have to be on the field of play for a completion. Was he one of the Texans QBs that ran out of end zone once?

Good riddance to that guy. He spent the whole season sitting on his butt letting DW4 get knocked around. He comes in for one day, sets himself up as the leader of the team, sows his discontent in the team and then takes off to the Seabags. That protest of his was probably planned to make us lose to Seattle as far as anybody knows. That guy is horrible and knew he was gone.

Posted in the NFL section last night after it happened.:

Brown has been beaten repeatedly during this game. He has been fortunate that Wilson has been able to elude his man. Watching how Duane Brown sustained his ankle injury, the concurrent twisting at the leg mechanism would be consistent with a high ankle sprain rather than a plain eversion ankle sprain. This also in worse case scenario can include a fracture.

Did anyone notice that Jeremy "failed physical" Lane played last night? Out of necessity, the Seahawks needed to put him in after Sherman was injured. He was immediately targeted in 2 of the next 3 plays.............one was for a completed by 17 yd pass (to JJ Nelson). The 2nd, Nelson dropped what should have been a reception. It was obvious that Lane's groin is still a problem.

The deadline trade for Duane Brown looked to be paying off for a second game until he went down with a leg injury. Prior to his injury, he was able to get some good movement in the run game at left tackle and only gave up one pressure on 20 snaps. If Brown is able to come back healthy it would help solidify an offensive line that struggled earlier in the season.

See, I just don’t trust PFF. I got to that game later than kickoff and saw Brown get beat three times in a span of like 6 plays or so. One was after the injury and he clearly couldn’t put his full weight on his right side without pain. The two prior to the injury were both to Chandler Jones. In one, Wilson was able to deliver the ball before Jones got to him, but Brown got beat almost immediately off the snap, he just couldn’t slide fast enough. The other, was on a rollout type play to the right and Brown got beat immediately, it just didn’t matter because Wilson was on a roll out to the opposite side of the field.

I posted much the same during the game.

Seahawks LT Duane Brown doesn't seem to think his ankle sprain is too bad.

Brown: "I got rolled up on on a play, it’s an ankle sprain. It’s pretty sore right now but I’ll be fine."

1:14 AM - Nov 10, 2017

Pete Carroll said Duane Brown sprained his ankle but that the team is unaware of the severity. Brown left late in the second quarter and didn't return. Said Carroll: "He's already talking like he'll be OK, but there's no way to know."

yep joking aside we've saved some money on Cushing's suspension and 2018 cut would add $8.5 million. Cannot see us getting any comp pick for TS although someone will probably sign him.
I wonder if Cushing will ever play again wearing a Texans jersey ?

I wonder if any good LB will test FA? Or maybe CB, S, or DE? I won’t even ask about any Offensive Tackles cause I know there’s no way in the absolute hell any team would let one walk in free agency. I have a feeling Rick Smith will make some noice this off season, or make something happen and get back into at least the 2nd round and snatch us up a good player.

I am going to say no. His age + injuries plus being suspended twice and with his stats leaves only his on field leadership to earn his almost ten million cap next year.

We’ll probably retire his jersey sometime in 2019, along with Arian Foster.

I sure hope not. If we do then the bar is set so low that it makes the Astros guidelines for retiring a number seem downright strict.

Cushing was not the player he flashed as earlier in his career and when you could be fairly certain he was laying off the juice (like right after he was caught the first time) he was very much just another guy out there. Too much doubt about what percentage of his abilities came out of a bottle. Plus he got caught and suspended twice. Unless we're throwing him a consolation prize for his injuries (our ring of honor's version of a pity-****?) he shouldn't make the cut. Sorry.

Could make a better case for Arian Foster but I'm not even 100% sure about him. I almost think it should go from Andre Johnson directly to J.J. Watt.

Also, "I hope not". Duane was a very, very good player for us but he wasn't some kind of epic Pro Bowl/All-Pro machine. Just a solid LT for 10 years. If we are building a "Ring of He Was Pretty Good" then sure.

Agreed and Cushing is in the same boat as Brown for me. Actually, his boat was the SS Minnow. He made one pro bowl in his entire career and that was when he was a rookie. People liked his fiery speeches, his toughness and his supposed leadership but how much was that fueled by steroids? He doesn't belong in any ring of honor. Cheating isn't honorable so even if his career was HOF like, IMHO he wouldn't deserve that honor.

I liked Cushing until he first got busted for steroids and didn't own it. I started to warm up to him again but when he got busted this last time I lost any respect for him. I just don't know how much of his career was tainted with steroids, but I believe the rumors he was using all the way back to high school are true. So I just can't believe that he got busted every time he used. It's like a drunk driver who gets a couple of DUI's and states those were the only times he drove drunk. It's just not believable.

Let's not pretend a large percent of the league doesn't do it. He just happens to be one of the smart ones that got caught twice

No way Cushing or Brown get ring of honoured.

While i’ve never been a huge Andre Johnson fan, totally respect his franchise contribution.

I hope Watt is next cab off the rank. Let’s have some standards people.
