Save us Savage!!!!!!!

I would feel better about his chances to remain in the league if he could mirror Weedens career
He will remain in the league.. there are over 75 qbs on NFL teams.. and hes not very good but he is not atrocious. He doesnt turn over the ball for the most part. Like I said, third string for someone.

today he was pretty atrocious from what I heard... couple more games like today's and if he's PS elgible still then mayhaps.... otherwise its CFL more than likely

He was running 33% completion in a league that considers 59% bad.

Meh, maybe Im wrong but If Bortles can be a starter in this league, then I think Savage can be a third stringer. Maybe not..

Vince Young and Johnny Manziel and Blaine Gabbert were starters in this league... js

Ok, I think we are getting sidetracked here. I am not defending Savage one bit. He isnt very good period. Hopefully he can turn it around and look somewhat competent the rest of the year. I hope he stays in the league in the future because he seems like a good guy overall.

Not gonna try to say that Bortles is good... Texian done left the building... but he's not TS bad
Oh absolutely TS is not as good as Bortles but one is a starter and another is career backup. One was a 3rd overall pick, the other one was a 4th round pick.

We might want to change the title of this thread to "Save Us FROM Savage," now. One little word can make all of the difference in a sentence.

Savage is a third string qb in this league.. I don’t think hes even a back up.

It depends on who the starter is. For guys like Tom Brady, Eli Manning, or Phillip Rivers Savage is a fine back up. For guys like Roethlisberger, Newton, or Romo third string is to high on the depth chart.

Savage’s timing is just whack. It took him 4 quarters to find any kind of rhythm, and he lost it with a snap of the finger. He’s played one full season of football in 8 years. No wonder he’s so rusty. Savage is 27 and masquerading as a project. Project is over, time to move on.

No turnover possibility if you throw most of your passes out of the field of play. I wish he was Weeden.

And maybe if Savage had received as many opportunities in the NFL as Bortels has, well Savages career might be in a far different place than it is now ?

Naaaaw. This emphasizes how fxxkn pitiful the OB QB era has been other than Watson (who most of the OB minions didn't want).

This is really the crux of the matter. Just looking at the list of starting QBs since 2014 makes you shake your head, with one blind squirrel exception:

Ryan Fitzpatrick
Ryan Mallett
Case Keenum
Brian Hoyer
T. J. Yates
Brandon Weeden
Brock Osweiler
Tom Savage
Deshaun Watson

Why was Savage putting so much air under his passes? Has he always thrown like that? Really stood out to me.

This dude is just bad very bad.

Please do not mistake me for a Tom Savage fan, but no. He's looked better than he did Sunday, every other time he's taken the field. Not that he looked particularly good those other times, but I've never thought him to be inaccurate or whatever that was floating those balls out there like that.

I go back to comment I made yesterday; in early 1st quarter, TS looked scared. Perhaps realizing after Watson's productivity, this is his last shot to be a starter. Several of his passes reminded me of early Pastorini long and high and nowhere near his target. He has to do a 180 Sunday or he may not be wanted anywhere 2017.

I wonder if he's banged up in some way.

Isn't this the third time for Yates now?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that last week was uncharacteristic in the way that he Osweilered a lot of those passes. Nerves....maybe. Tough to follow what Watson had done and realizing the season is now up to him...yeah, more than likely. He didn't get any time prior to his (2) 1st team practices to work with Fuller in regards to timing. Davenport was making his 1st start at LT.

I didn't get a chance to see the game due to AFN not covering it but in all honesty, did O'Brien go back to the old TS Playbook or did he at least attempt to spice it up a little bit? I believe this is going to be Savage's first back to back starts ever. Maybe he can bounce back for a little better performance but the Texans will have no protection against Phillips all-out blitz plan. Hope O'Brien is really scheming something to burn the blitz or at least attempt to burn the blitz to help keep their defense a little more honest instead of being in tee-off mode.

Are they safe?
Its a highly moderated site so the worse thing you have to worry about is pop-up hell but i have never seen a virus reported.

There are 2 or 3 main streams for each game that are pretty solid with no pop ups, HD quality and very few hiccups. I use the site religiously for NCAA games as well for the last 2 years and basically cut my cable

I say give Savage another game. He probably is what we saw, but I think he will have a better showing Sunday. But we aren’t going to outscore LAR. If anything, it’s Yates after the Rams.

I second this. He looked scard, but behind that Oline and his cement feet, he had a reason to be.

against the leagues weakest defense and couldn't deliver, again

This^^^ the leagues crappiest defense against the pass and the cat goes 19-44 or something horrible like that. But that could also be that Obrien didn't help him out much either.

I put that down to adrenaline and poor footwork, based on the limited snaps I watched Sunday. It seemed like he was making a determined effort to do things "faster" than he naturally would. Those can be corrected, but I doubt it against a strong defensive front like the Rams have. The Texans OL is a pure shambles everywhere but C. I put that squarely on Rick Smith's shoulders.

OB went back to the old playbook from what I saw, but I only watched 3/4's of the 1st half and the last 6 minutes of the 4th. What I did see was mostly hot garbage in a dumpster fire from the O and secondary. The secondary couldn't cover a pick up game at the old folks home.
