The Actual and Real 2017 Texans Talk Mock Draft Extravaganza

Seahawks take Curtis Samuel, ATH, Ohio State.

Ohio State's Percy Harvin is an interesting prospect here in the late 3rd round. He can be used in a variety of ways, much like Harvin was used in college and in the NFL. More speed for Wilson to use out on the edges.

I'm ok with the LB.

Can I just ask if anyone has a high rated 3-4 DE on the board??

I'm nervous as frick about Watt and would like to consider cover.

I like Hodges's he was my back up to Shaheen.

There should be some decent ones available in the 4th. Of course the debate then will be DE or Safety.

An awesome pick.

What a steal.

WF is on the clock.

Kansas City selects Wayne Gallman - RB, Clemson

Chiefs need to find a successor for Jamaal Charles. Spencer Ware played well for stretches last year but struggled with injuries and works better in a committee. The Chiefs like Charcandrick West but he's never been able to perform above rotation level.

Gallman is a slasher who can also contribute in the passing game and is tough enough to run inside. He will compete for lead back touches with Ware.

Solid pick

He reminds me of Ware. Very good, jack of all trades, no real weaknesses in his game.

I don't know about the rest of you, I feel like this is a really good draft class in it's totality. If I were to mock draft the Texans, I would have waited until the 4th round to draft a QB. There is one quarter back projected to go within rounds 4-6 that I think will be a franchise QB. And not many people are talking about him.

With the 92nd pick in the TT Mock Draft Dallas Cowboys select
Rasul Douglas, CB, West Virginia.
Cowboys could have dipped into the deep TE pool here too but with a need at CB and this guy falling this far it was too much temptation for the 'Boys FO.
At 6'2" and 209lbs he has great size for the position with the length to contest and win 50/50 balls.
Had a nice season in 2016 with a nice haul of ints.
At 4.59 for the 40, he is not super fast but still good speed and has the long arms to grab RB's who break contain.
With a grade of 5.81 he is a steal here.
This defensive haul in the first three rounds should give the Boy's D a youth and talent injection it sorely needed with the mass exodus of defensive players this off season.

I thought about taking him with the Bucs pick.

I think he can be a Seattle type CB or a really good safety.

Good pick.

I think he'll drop because he needs to learn WR and he's not close to an every down RB, but with a team that uses a lot of different packages and attacks every part of a defense, he's a weapon.

Put him on a team like Seattle/New Orleans/Pats and you've got an ultimate weapon.

Danny Woodhead on steroids.

What about Lockett?

Davis Webb or Chad Kelly?

I like Alek Torgerson about as much as I like any other QB in this draft and he should also be available late. I would not be happy with spending a 1st on Watson with as much talent as there is available.

Pittsburgh selects Bucky Hodges - TE, Virginia Tech

Steelers have been looking for a mismatch at TE for some time who can stretch the seams and clear out the middle of the field. They thought Ladarius Green would be that guy but he can't stay healthy. Hodges is a flex TE in the Jimmy Graham mold who is more WR than TE. At 6'6, 260 lbs with 4.5 speed he provides Big Ben with a matchup nightmare for defenses and a monster redzone target while the Steelers search for one more Lombardi Trophy before Ben hangs it up.

Miami selects Isaac Asiata, OG, Utah. Protecting Ryan Tannehill at all costs and giving the Miami run game some punch.

With the 98th pick in the 3rd Round Carolina selects...

Jake Butt, TE, Michigan

Sure there are injury concerns but as a Michigan fan Butt was a reliable TE and is a good option for Panthers to pair with Greg Olsen. Might be too high but his hands and zero baggage makes him a better option.

@beerlover you're up!

I have Beerlover's pick# 99 for the Eagles via PM:

Marlon Mack - RB South Florida

Philadelphia Eagles select Marlon Mack with the 99th overall pick (via trade w/Baltimore for Timmy Jernigan 2nd rd pick 2014) in the Texans Talk Group Mock Draft.
5-11 213 lbs. ran 4.50 and broad jumped 10' 5" @ Combine. Eagles backfield has been in disarray since trading away LeSean McCoy, who was a 2nd rd. pick in 09 draft (5-10 198 lbs. and ran 4.50). Biggest difference I see is Shady came out of a Pro-style offense, while Mack played in spread, ability to shift, swivel hips, change direction and burst (big play potential). Does have some warts, like pass pro & catching out of the backfield but hopefully those things will improve in time? He has slightly bigger frame & room to add more muscle, but with current Eagle backfield, Matthews probably getting salary cap cut & no clear front runner after that, Eagles must hit on this need as opportunity presents itself. Late in 3rd almost 4th Mack addresses that need @ plus value.
