Bouye has gone JagsSigning Romo and probably Bouye is in the works. Couldn't be worse in my eyes.
WOW!!! Looks like Romo IS coming to Houston lol. Rick Smith wow, he got... wow Im at a loss for words. Golf clap?
Bouye has gone Jags
So, is this the first player-for-money trade in NFL history? At least one that was blatantly said to be so?
Actually contracts couldn't be signed until 3PM central. It's possible we could have made a last second counter offer.Good.
Question for you draft guys - how many picks do we move up in the first by trading the newly acquired 4th round pick?
I'm curious to see if there are draft plans with this move and/or other FA moves besides Romo with the extra cash. Something is in the works.
As of 2017 draft you can.I dont think you can trade comp picks, so it would have to be their original

If i recall the last CBA lets you do it nowI dont think you can trade comp picks, so it would have to be their original
We can't afford for Dallas to hose us worse than cleveland
Why? I love it. Look at our disappointing track record of second-round picks during Rick Smith's tenure as GM. I'd have tossed in a third or fourth-rounder if needed. The Browns could have gotten more from us to take on that huge guaranteed salary for 2017.Son of a ...
Hate giving up a 2nd in this.
Assuming Bouye is good for a comp 3rd in 2018, that 2nd round pick loss doesn't hurt quite as much.Question is, if this means we trade for Romo, who or what will we trade to get him? Personally I hope we don't trade for him. Don't want to lose any more picks!
This whole thing blows me away. It played out this way in my head...
Bob McNair: "Rick, we need a QB".
Rick Smith: "Well I have a plan. We sign the Broncos backup QB to a ridiculous contract but we give ourselves an out in case he sucks. If he's good then we keep him. If he sucks then we trade draft picks to get rid of him so another team can have our picks and then use the out we built into the contract to cut him. Then, wait for it Bob, then we throw money at a 36-year old who got injured 3 times behind the best O-Line in football. Either we do that or we draft Derek Carr. What do you think Bob?"
Bob McNair: "Another Carr? No way man, do the other thing."
Just be grateful the Osweiler experiment is over including his contract. Not only did the Texans sign Brock Osweiler as free agent, they just gave Cleveland a 2018 2nd rd draft pick to do so. And then they traded him to Cleveland for a 2017 4th rd draft pick. You can't make this **** up.
BINGO!!!!Watch the Browns use this second round pick in a trade for Jimmy G.
I think we got their 4th and they got out 6th...your point noted thoughNot only did the Texans sign Brock Osweiler as free agent, they just gave Cleveland a 2018 2nd rd draft pick to do so. And then they traded him to Cleveland for a 2017 4th rd draft pick. You can't make this **** up.
I almost want to look at a browns message board to see what they are saying

I will be disappointed in Houston if "Osweiler" doesn't become a euphemism for "****"
Yup. We just got fleeced by the worst franchise in football.
correction...
We are the worst franchise in football NOW.
I agree but we don't seem to make enough of them. Those guys are the rare exceptions. It's likely 50-50, maybe 40-60 with Rick Smith as GM. Remember in Jadeveon Clowney's draft we could have snagged Derek Carr in the second round but went O-Line instead.Because 2nd round picks can be of tremendous value. Ask Connor Barwin, Demeco Ryans, Benardrick McKinney, and soon to be Nick Martin.
We're going to draft a Texas Tech QB.

I really don't get it. This is 100% for cap THIS YEAR, because Brock was only going to cost us $6M against the cap next year. We only save $10M against the cap this year, although we don't have to worry about the $6M next year. I just don't understand.
I'm in the camp where this is genius.
Realised they stuffed up and have moved out from under the millstone they had gotten stuck with.
For me a second round pick to get back into a competitive cap space is totally worth it.
The trade pretty much means that the Texans were going to cut him this year anyways IMO.
Slightly encouraging, Os sucked and his play last year was when the poor decision was realized, getting rid of him was a good move. I like having an earlier pick this year with this crop of players. Losing next year's second stings but if you believe this team can compete now it makes sense to have the extra dough to acquire pieces earlier, and with the salary cap inflation it makes even more sense. All in all, getting rid of Oz was the right move, it doesn't change how it was a bad move last year but it realizes the loss without it having a larger effect going forward.
They made a mistake and realized it. The alternative was keeping Brock on the team and his terrible contract. The 2nd rounder hurts, but Brock's contract is longer.
