NFL Random Thought of the Day

Per NFL Network, Tony Romo has a broken bone in his back.

Romo has a lumbar compression fracture. What happens in most of these is the force abnormally compacts/impacts the bone, the crushed bone remains stable. With a period of immobilization and concentrated rehab, as long as this is indeed his only injury, he should be able to avoid surgery and realistically return to play at ~10 weeks.

If this fracture was a type that was or became unstable (such as one of the segments sliding forward or adjacent discs be ruptured), then surgery would become indicated.

As long as he is careful not to torque his torso, you may see him begin to throw lightly in the next 2-3 weeks.

What's the recovery time on a dislocated knee?

My wife had one a year or two back and she's still paranoid about contact around her knee area.

Back in April, ESPN reported Philly was the leading contender to host the 2017 draft. On Thursday, it will become official. Philly, 2017.

Kinda hoping Philly goes 0-16 now just to pour that fuel on Philly's perpetual tirefire fanbase going into next April.

Initial reports were that Romo could return to play as early as week 3 (6 weeks post injury). At that time, I posted that a return at ~10 weeks was more realistic (See: http://www.texanstalk.com/posts/2628609/ ). The Star-Telegram is now reporting that Romo will be undergoing another MRI and that projected return has now been adjusted to 8-10 weeks. To be undergoing another MRI just a few days after his first is a little unusual. I'm wondering if some instability, which could eventually require surgery, is now possibly being detected/suspected (See: http://www.texanstalk.com/posts/2628609/ ) .

NFLN is reporting Vikings give up 1st in 2017 and 4th in 2018 draft for Eagles' QB Sam Bradford.

Now I'm wondering who starts for the Iggles?

Really? You couldn't figure this out on your own? I know there are a lot of moving pieces here (3); Bradford (traded to Vikings), Daniels ($7M backup), & Wentz (Hurt the last two weeks)

Remember we paid Hoyer $5M to walk on as our starter.

The question was basically a function of me paying very little attention to the Eagles. Last episode of "As The Eagles Turn" I that I paid any attention to was that Bradford was miffed they drafted Carson Wentz and wanted out. Then reports were that, supposedly, Bradford and the front office kissed and made up.
Apparently not.

Read that it was a 1st and a 4th for Glassman errr Bradford. Eagles very much won that trade. They got rid of an expensive oft injured, little results QB.

Adam Schefter:
If Vikings go to NFC Championship game this season, conditional 4th-round pick in 2018 becomes a 3rd; if Vikings win SB, it becomes a 2nd.

Forgive me. I spoke too soon. Obviously it was me that couldn't figure out what the Eagles are doing.

Some funny business seems to have gone on. Dallas was negotiating with Sanchez before he was released. In fact, he was signed before the Broncos released him and the league office informed teams that he was officially available. Jerry, shame on you for not playing by the rules.

Jerrah jerrah!

Hey, at least they didn't trade a first and fourth for him!

WK 1 pick ems ..????

TB@ATL & LA@SF

who yall got these are the hardest games to choose IMO should I go with the road teams or home teams ..???

I don't normally jump on "this QB is the real thing" stuff, or give QBs too much credit... but Jamies Winston is too much for Atlanta''s D.

TB over Atlanta

& the Rams have it more together than the 49ers. LA over SF

I don't understand that decision.

Wentz has not been healthy all preseason. Chase Daniel has proven to be one of the best backups in the league. With his experience in Pederson's system he's undoubtedly the superior choice right now at QB. But Philly wants to throw out their rookie right away.
