The Actual And Real 2016 Texans' Talk Mock Draft Extravaganza

What's gonna change? Thought I read earlier pick would stay open until 11:00?
There was confusion on whether the evening clock shutdown started at 7 or 9. We determined it should be 9 which left only 1 hour left on the clock that started last night at 6.

Now we know the clock runs from 7AM to 9PM and each pick gets up to 4 hours on the clock, but doesn't start over every morning which is where the 11:00 time was erroneously calculated. But picks come in fast and furious at times like my 3 minute pick.

I'm really blown away that so many like billings as our pick. I've had him at the top of my wish list for awhile and everytime Ive mentioned him all I got was "NO we have to go WR or OT with our first". Billings is a young wilfork. When he breaks away from blocks his short area burst towards the ball is incredible for his size. Next to watt he will be a beast.

I woukd still go with one more late round DL just for depth since this draft os so deep at DL.

I don't think 6 Doctson votes are walking through the door in the next few minutes. So unless anyone objects it's probably safe to get going.

Anyone?

Doctson: TexansFTW, ThePencilNeck, WolverineFan, thunderkyss, Texian
Lynch: TexansSeminole
Billings: Marshall, bah007, JB, Shiskabob, Mollywhopper, Infantrycak, PapaL, mussop, steelbtexan, Say_Watt
Kelly: Lucky
Fuller: Beerlover, austins23

And no one ever trust me on anything time-related again. I always seem to screw it up when I have to translate from Central, to Spain, and back to Central.

With the 22nd pick in the 2016 NFL draft, YOUR Houston Texans select:

Andrew Billings, DT, Baylor

Wide Receivers Left for Round 2
1-25 Corey Coleman
1-30 Will Fuller
2-37 Josh Doctson
2-42 Tyler Boyd
2-46 Michael Thomas

2-52 Houston 2nd round pick

2-58 Pharoh Cooper
3-67 Sterling Shepherd
3-70 Braxton Miller (just keeps rising)

Of course RBs are numerous in the second.
Of this bunch, excluding Doctson, the best route runner I have watched is Malcom Mitchell. I think Doctson has Nuk type ball skllls. Braxton Miller has certainly been impressive at his brand new position at the Senior Bowl and the Combine.

When people do mocks specifically for the Texans I think they can be naive about things like that because they get to decide who is available at each selection. So they can almost have whoever they want and just make sure that person is available for their selection. If they want an OT they can make sure one is there.

But in an exercise like this you don't get to choose who is available. They are either on the board or not. And when that reality surfaces I think it can give you a different perception.

Bridgewater should be very happy with that.

If the Vikings were to go WR in the first do you think they'd back off the high draft pick they are seeking for CPatt and just look to move him?

I'd love to offer a 5th/6th rounder for CPatt, I can't see the price being any higher than that. Although Coach Zimmer kinda went on record saying he wasn't looking to draft a WR, although we all know it is lying season.

This is why I love group mocks like this. It gives us a different perspective of how things might go and how to be patient to allow guys to drop to you.

This.

The guy I've been wanting the Texans to draft is Corey Coleman, simply because I didn't think Doctson or someone like Billings would be available Would be awesome if it happens.

With the 24th pick in the 2016 NFL draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select ...

Mackensie Alexander, CB, Clemson

Surprised by this I thought for sure with Coleman and Fuller still on board and them loosing 2 guys in FA the pick here would be receiver. However I cant argue with this pick at all

I figured that also. The Steelers had Alexander ready to go, but will take Jackson. He is going to be a good one.

Dre Kirkpatrick and an aging Pacman vs. the Steelers air attack twice a year is a mountain. Also betting I can still find a quality WR later versus a quality cover corner later. Did consider Coleman just a bit (but what a work in progress), and was strongly considering Doctson before he went a pick earlier, but on the whole Alexander is too good to pass up as a mirror corner in today's passing game.

With the #26 pick the Seahawks select:

Cody Whitehair - OG, Kansas St

Seattle needs help on the OL badly. Whitehair has the versatility to play all three interior positions for us and the talent to start immediately.

I don't think they exercise Patterson's fifth year option as he is basically their #4 WR at best. With a 1st round rookie he would be their #5. They would have to pay him big money just to return kicks. The writing would be on the wall and only a desperate team would offer decent value in a trade.

I think there is a chance they could move him for less. I'm sure they'd like to bring him back as the KR but not at the price he's going to be asking for. I wouldn't trade anything for him but someone might. He would basically be a one year rental at KR and then he's going to hit the market.

He's been on the clock an hour. He was on the clock for four hours last night and this morning.

We all certainly hope he's ok. That said, are we going to wait until 5:30 to do this thing?

Any number of things could interrupt your best intentions to be here. Computer crashes, unexpected job responsibilities, NCAA playoff games, etc.

I'd gladly pay a 5th rounder for a 1 year KR guy that will have the opportunity to prove he can play WR in the NFL for our team of rag-tag WRs. He can't be any worse than Keith Mumphrey, and that's our standard 5th round pick type guy.

So what do the Packers need? ILB? TE? OT? DL?

Hunter Henry, TE?
Jarran Reed, DT?
Jaylon Smith, LB?

I'd take TE out of 1st round pick consideration. They just went out and made a move for a TE in Jared Cook. I think that was done to focus on a different position in the early rounds of this draft.

3:30 gives Blake an even two hours following his first four absent. I think that's fair. Then it seems we've agreed on Jarran Reed.

Yes?
