Who else thinks the Texans are going to crash and burn in 2015

In the second half the Chiefs didn't score and might I point out that 14 of the 27 points the chiefs DID score were a result of being given a short field from our "BRILLIANT" QB who threw a pick on the first play (Cheif TD) then got sacked and coughed up the ball (Chief TD)
Yeah the offense didn't do the defense any favors. But 'IF' this team makes any noise it's gonna have to be the defense that excels nad create some turnovers too.

I have no desire to defend Hoyer, but both the HC and the intended WR admitted that Hopkins made a mistake on that INT.

Runner - beautiful. Nicely played.

TAKE A SHOT. Brian Hoyer is not a shot. He's a squeaky fart you aren't sure people heard so you don't know whether to act embarrassed.

Honest to God, Injun, whatever I will not rip them for being wrong. Never ripped the Texans for Carr other than keeping him too long. But take a freaking shot.

I have been agreeing and liking your posts a lot lately. Maybe a detente is forming between us.

How Nixonian. But I agree. I find football to be a bridge if both faith and attacks on it are kept out of the discussion. But it takes effort.

As for football, I'm firmly in the team camp rather than the QB and 52 superfluous players camp.

The defense was better than most ppl think. They only gave up the td on the broken play to Kelse and then 2 field goals, an in the 2nd half they had some key stops on 3rd downs and didnt allow any points.

The 2 tds that Hoyer gave them won that game.

Sorry, early in the game, I'd rather my defense, with 7 1st round picks to be able to hold the Chiefs to a field goal as early in the game as the INT was. Even for the fumble, should have been a field goal. That's 8 points right there (counting the PAT)

Didn't realize this, that's some investment right therr...Is that all Texans or does it includes players we signed from other teams?

What a minute, the game's already started? Jesus, I'm more fucked up than I thought. What the **** day is today?

I don't even know if it's 7, I kinda pulled it out of my rump.

Watt (Texans 1st)
KJackson (Texans 1st)
Cushing (Texans 1st)
Clowney (Texans 1st)
Mercilus (Texans 1st)
KJohnson (Texans 1st)
Wilfork (New England's 1st twelve years ago)
Jjo (Bengal's first way back when 2006)

That's eight. Six were picked by the Texans in the first round.

Rahim Moore was drafted by Denver, 2nd round 2011

But we all knew going into this season, if we're to be successful, the defense has to be elite! The red zone D has to be better.

This was my point in the state of the franchise thread .... comparing the investment on defense to that of the offense which has .... 2 first round picks in Hopkins & Brown , and no one else higher than the 3rd round with several UDFA's / 6th 7th's as starters.

As long as we play teams with shitty TE's we'll be fine. Did you see the way they dominated in practice against our offense?

Things the Texans can't do no matter who is coach:

Run a screen

Stop a screen

Know a TE is even on the field

Special teams - there's a million jokes here but it seems cruel

Good news is the season is still young and this looks to be the worst division in the league.

The bad news is, our play thus far looks like none of that matters; ww can't take advantage of any of that.

Could be

My toes are in the sun. Dog is trying to court anyone on the lake (can a brother buy a dog a beer?).

Bow season starts in 3 weeks.

Really don't care.

Edit: anyone processed a deer at Hudson's? Met the son and seems like a damn nice guy.

As bad as we look, and we look putrid, we are still only one game out of 1rst place.

And in both games so far, somehow someway, we were in it until the final whistle.

I'm not done.

I like this post because I remember the 1993 Oilers. Started 1-4, ended 12-4.

The chances of that happening again are very minimal. After all, we had Warren Moon. Still, I've watched a lot of football in my life, and stranger things have happened.

I can easily call myself a realist, but that certainly doesn't make me a deaftist. So, to all you Chicken Littles, in week 2, turn off the fuckin TV and get the cluck out. It's not over until the math says it is.

In the world of 4-team divisions, it's almost never over until week 17. NFC South last year was a great example.

I am officially on the Crash and Burn bandwagon. Mallet looked like Cincy Mallet, torn pec or not.
We look clueless compared to last year. We should be making the biggest leap forward this year
and it isn't happening.

Then why waste your time as a message board mod for a team you don't care about watching?

Texan fans super bowl .

Ok , so Mullett wasn't great (hell wasn't even good) today .... But he had no help.

The running game was pathetic.

The OL was .... who were those guys ?!

Saw several dropped balls .... Probably cause he throws so damn hard but they hit you in the hands you catch them.

It was entertaining .... well , watching Newton act like Superman was .... Damnit.

I'm not ready to pull the plug on the season yet , Mullet's first start of the year , he got better (and worse) as the game wore on.
He's got to learn to take something off of some of those balls .... but I did like some things he did , like throw a few away rather than force the issue or take a sack. He's got some growing to do .... and the physical tools to grow with .... Now all we have to find out is if he has a short between the earphones .... or if he can improve.

6-10 here we come.

I have to come to the defense of infantrycak when faced with your lame criticism. Grow up dude

You're probably the worst poster to tell anyone to grow up and I don't think he needs your help. I think a mod of the Texans message board should care about the team and do it without being a douche.

Maybe it's just me but this team acts like a team that had interference from outside the locker room . Hoyer and Mallett aren't very good but Hoyer was named starter probably to show Mallett what a pro does . I still don't think Bill would yank him so quick unless he was told to . The Texans played uninspired and a possible reason is undermining the leader .

I agree with most of that.

Except I'm pretty sure this is about a 5 win team if that.

I'll be watching them because I still want them to do well and it's still interesting to follow. But this team is toast.

And of course looks like a crappy draft class for QB's. Figures.....

Of COURSE it's a crappy draft class for quarterbacks - it has been for years and will continue to be so. Way way way too risky to draft a quarterback, especially since Savage hasn't had his shot yet. He's really the real deal.

However, there is a silver lining. The Texans can draft Bosa so that teams can't double team JJ, Clowney, and Wilfork all the time. Take some pressure off of those guys.

:kitten:

Great response, cant admit you may be wrong about the Texans org. after over a decade of proof. Oh well, atleast you can still root for the man you love the most. (Kubiak)

Figures, atleast you're staying in character.

I'm in Boston and didn't get to watch the game and I still care. (I've got the game taped.)

The guy saying he chooses to enjoy life rather than pull his hair out over a team he has no control over is being a douche?

Retrace your steps here man.

We look way worse than I expected. The offense isn't NFL quality at all, doesn't matter if Foster or Brown wasn't healthy last 2 games. It needs to be significantly better to compete and I don't see that happening, even when they come back. Too many holes(same story every year)

our highly invested Defense looks like dogshit against team with 'average' offense

This is what I am thinking. All sides of the ball bad. Even defense that is supposed to be the strong part. Mallett threw the ball almost 60 times. No balance on offense. All was bad. No running game whatsoever. Just bad.

I can't tell you for sure, but if I had to choose, that'd be my place. Probably the best restaurant in the city. I just hosted a bachelor party dinner there last month. Pricey, but amazing.

It seems like no one is taking into account the hopeless condition of the offensive line going into this game. And it got worse by the 4th quarter. We ended up with an undrafted rookie out there. How many other teams can win with only two linemen at their normal positions? I'm amazed that it was even a one score loss. Carolina fans shouldn't be too proud of this one.

With the exception of receiver drops, all the problems that we saw today are associated with a compromised offensive line: Low completion percentage, low running play ratio, exhausted and exploited defense.

So I can't blame too much of the loss on play calling and QB performance, but I can blame this organization for having no realistic contingency plan for a Duane Brown injury. You'd think that quality depth was one of the lessons learned after the 2013 disaster. And here we are, before our season even started, the identity of the entire team is fundamentally altered because of one non-QB's fuckin thumb.
