Houston Texans @ Carolina Panthers. Noon. CBS. 9/20. **Official Game Day Thread**

This team has no QB's. The receiving corps got worse, the O-line got worse, RAC's secondary
coaching weakness was exposed. All-in-all, we're just like we were with Kubes.

..A bad team that can occasionally have a winning season.

IMO this game was lost by a fully rested defense after the Texans took the opening drive of the 3rd quarter for a touchdown. That fully rested Texans defense allowed Carolina to march all the way down the field on the very next drive for TD to basically kill the moment that the Texans' offense had generated. I blame the defense more than I do Mallett, the offensive line, or even the RBs.

All those dropped passes in the 1st half didn't help either.
They all sucked, most of the team sucked today. Clowney looked good...otherwise I have no compliments for any other player. This includes Watt and ESPECIALLY Wilfork.

Also, JJo needs to play less. He's starting to look like a player that is getting too old.

This just isn't a good team. Short of some heroics I don't think we win more than 5 games at this point.

I tried to think positive about this team but I had this nagging feeling that this was going to be a bad season.

This team just isn't good. I think that the team kubiak left here had more talent. Bad personnel decisions all over the place.

He got the ball over a defender's hands.

What he should have done was stop, set up, find a better lane, deliver a good ball. He had a guy running him down, but still at least a second to get a good throw in.

He was not going to score the TD with his legs. That thought should never have crossed his mind.
I agree he should have set his feet but he had a good lane. He put the ball behind Hopkins on purpose to split the defenders. That's fine. But he also left it high when he didn't need to. Put it above the defender or behind the defender, not both. That's a miss on his part. Another one..

Should we trade for Robert Griffin III?
The Redskins are shopping him. I'm joking mostly.
But the 2015 NFL Trading deadline isn't until November 3

There's still TIME! Just saying...

I'm more optimistic right now than when the season started.

I think we have dumbasses for coaches, but I'm hoping they'll learn from their mistakes, like all young coaching staffs do.

I kinda had the feeling that we were going to throw the ball a lot. I expected better results, because I was thinking Mallet might be the one. He's not. Still. I like the tools & think he still has the ability to improve. That shell shocked journeyman we have on the sidelines don't. & our other QB is on IR... so it is what it is.

I don't know or understand why they decided to shuffle the OL as much as they did. If they were planning on keeping that lineup the rest of the season, just plugging Brown in when he gets back, maybe I can see it. But with the injury to Adams.. we'll probably be looking at some other food shuffle next week.

But that was a huge obstacle for us to overcome in both the passing & running game to add on top of the Panthers defense.

Defensively, I don't know what's going on there, but they need to figure it out.

Yup, great gameplan there coach. Swap quarterbacks, shuffle your offensive line around and then chuck it all day against a very good defense. Winning.
Our running game was HORRID due to that line and sub par rushing. There was really nothing we could do.

They threw it so much b/c the run game was ****...Im fairly positive OB didn't want Mallet throwing it that many times...not with his known accuracy issues and the o-line protection issues

On the bright side, I saved a couple hundred bucks by not renewing DTV Sunday Ticket. Went with the streaming option using the student price. This year I'm only paying $99 to see us suck!

True, but we didn't even attempt it. Our gameplan was to come out throwing and keep doing so, you have to attempt to keep the defense honest.

Feel bad for them. Today is my birthday too. The big 3-0.

.. and then?
You're obviously getting old
aren't we all

....Bill O'Brien is coaching the hell out of this Texans team and it's unfortunate that he won't have the record to show for it. After an overwhelmingly skittish Ryan Mallett tossed the first half away, O'Brien did a nice job of adjusting the game plan and giving him some underneath routes to hit in order to give Mallett his confidence back. In a game where Houston was thoroughly dominated by the Panthers, he had them within 20 yards of overtime.....

...Mallett deserves to start another game. When he actually takes his time and sets his feet, he throws an incredible, blistering fastball. There were times when it was too much for his wideouts to handle, but this is also what happens when a team switches starters mid-stream. It's certainly a different ball than Hoyer throws.

What happened to Grimes and Blue? Seems like Polk go all the carries.

More Grimes then Blue since I honestly think he kind of sucks.

Yeah, O'Brien inherited a team capable of 12 wins and is coaching the hell out of them to a season that looks to be tanking. He's throwing talent off the team at an astounding rate and his offensive staff has a whole 15 minutes coaching experience between them.

Announcers said something about Blue not being suited for the up-tempo offense Houston was trying to run. I guess he doesn't catch well out of the backfield?
