Texans 2015 Free Agency

Yeah, it's pretty dumb that there is so much haste to get threads moved quickly or posted there to begin with. It's not like the thread is still in the Texans forum 10 months from now, and even if it was who cares? The guy was a Texan and it still pertains to Texans football. If someone comes to this forum, they'll go to the Texans board first most likely. Why should someone who visits the board a few hours after news happens and a thread is created or moved to the NFL forum say "Hey, I gotta go to the NFL Forum too JUST IN CASE one of our players left"? That's stupid.

But hey, whatever.

People beotch either way.

The calls for moving and renaming **** instantly are ridiculous though.

Although it's not ideal, how would everyone feel about D. Manning as the 3rd safety for the right price? Obviously he's not Lewis when it comes to coverage but IMO he's better in coverage than Swag. Not to mention he brings in veteran leadership and IIRC never wanted to leave Houston.

Uh someone move this to the nfl forum. :kitten:

No move the post! What does Stevie Johnson have to do with the Texans? :kitten:

Quite a few posts already been posted in this thread re. Johnson in context of us needing a WR (especially since one-by-one, they are coming off the table) including:

Just a state of the market - remaining players on PFT's top 100 FA list:

Greg Hardy - DE
Nick Fairly - DT
Percy Harvin - WR
CJ Spiller - RB
Michael Crabtree - WR
Dwayne Bowe - WR
Stefen Wisniewski - C
Jermaine Gresham - TE
Tramon Williams - CB
Patrick Robinson - CB
Cecil Shorts - WR
Brandon Spikes - ILB
Shareece Wright - CB
Rolando McClain - ILB
Kroy Biermann - DE
Vince Wilfork - DT
Joe Barksdale - OT
Mason Foster - ILB
Perish Cox - CB
Stevie Johnson - WR
Denarius Moore - WR
Bradley Fletcher - CB
Hakeem Nicks - WR
Justin Blalock - G
Kenny Britt - WR
Reggie Bush - RB
James Casey - TE
Byron Bell - OT
Kyle Wilson - CB

Wisniewski and Wilfork seem given as targets. I'd be curious to know what OB thinks of Casey and our TEs. Would like some ILB competition/depth.

Rolando McClain would be a good fit, but you're rolling the dice that he can stop smoking weed and smacking his wife around long enough to help the team.

I like Stevie Johnson. He was a knucklehead in Buffalo but very talented. He disappeared in San Francisco. I wouldn't mind taking a shot at Crabtree.

It's posted in the Wilfork thread, but I thought it should be in this thread also. It's being reported that Wilfork & his wife are in town for a two day visit. Here's to hoping he signs the contract while in town. :toast2:

I think if it comes down to it that you're right about him being better in coverage than Swag but I hope it doesn't come down to that.

Still I would not entirely be upset about it. There are worse fates. Most of those involve Swearinger on the field during passing downs.

Manning looked good even last season, the man can still play. I for one am good with Manning back there.

wondering how much the ravens paid for Kendrick Lewis. I've looked everywhere and all I see is the agreed to a 3 year deal, but no dollar amount. anyone know?

This is the type of WR2 that I expected BOB to look for. He can KR/PR too.

Wonder what Shorts will cost? Shorts/Parker = Massive upgrade. I read somewhere that Shorts was a lock to be signed by the Texans.

Whos is the WR "Parker" the Texans signed? Shorts doesnt impress me at all. Cheap body is what he is.

DeVante Parker, he's going to be a stud if his feet hold up. I should've been more specific. Shorts isn't an all pro, but he is a starting WR in the NFL a solid WR2. Which is more than you can say for Martin/Posey.

I want Shorts here as #3. I wouldn't consider him a solid #2 at all.

I've never liked Cecil Shorts' hands. He always seemed to drop a lot of easily catchable balls. I don't know if that was because of his concentration or if that was because of the QBs who were throwing him the ball, but he's not a guy I'm really high on.

OTOH, Martin. :toropalm:

I'm hoping for him as an upgrade on Demaris Johnson.

Shorts's talent has been minimized playing on a subpar team. He's been Jackonville's only consistent WR for the past 3 years (when he wasn't injured...)

Texans have agreed on a contract with WR Cecil Shorts 3.

I don't think the Texans are done on the DL, just yet. May add another DE before the draft.

Who else is available? Gotta replace Reed

edit: Bowers?

I like what we're doing this offseason. I could have done without the whole "40 catches" fiasco but I think we're making the right moves so far. All the deals have been sensible and the cuts have been necessary.

I think Acho would do well in Reed's spot and he wouldn't be that expensive either.
