Don't get me wrong , I cant stand the Dolts. Its just that they didn't have a long run of knocking my hometown team out of the playoffs like the Steelers did.


One thing that pisses me off ... is their luck. No one franchise should have so much when it comes to the QB position.
Tank for Manning .... have more than a decade of success then turn around and tank a year for Luck ..... and they are primed for another decade of success.

They get back to back once in a generation QB's for their pain. We get stuck with a crap QB and a couple once in a generation pass rushers ..... HWWNBMv1.0 , MW and now Clowney.
 
I'd take Watt and Clowney to beat Luck for the next decade. Just a shame we didn't have Clowney for that Thursday Night game. We might have won. They wouldn't have scored as many points. We'd probably have held them to two less Touchdowns. At any rate, he's coming back. We're 3-3 and still ten games left. Plenty of 2014 season left to make some noise.

If there's a way to do it it's with constant pressure, and of course a modicum of competent QB play on our side would help too.

I am starting to get a HWSNN feeling about Fitzpatrick. I remembering defending HWSNN for his first few years because his stats would look decent but we would still get the loss.

Seems like Fitzpatrick is now in the same boat. His stats look ok but we still get the loss.however, it seems like it is all garbage stats

I know I know garbage stats are basically any stat when you don't get the "W"
But it just seems like a team gets a big lead and Fitzpatrick somehow "comes alive"aka defense plays back and relaxes to protect a big lead. then when The game gets close. The defensive coordinators fight up the belt and wallah . Fitzpatrick folds again

I didn't expect Fitzpatrick to become a superstar or Anything. But he is worse than I expected

Fitz is who he is. I really didn't expect anything better or worse form him. He'll look OK for a bit, then he'll look terrible. Doesn't help that the O-line isn't doing him any favors.

The more concerning fact is that OB thinks he gives us the best opportunity to win.

The bit on Mallett I heard on yesterday's broadcast was that "he's progressing but needs to improve his accuracy in the red zone." By the mid 20's isn't your accuracy what it's ever going to be? I'm no QB guru, but it sounds like Mallett will stay on as backup for the rest of the year and then be let go in FA.

So, we're looking at 8-8 best case scenario (I think), another QB drafted next year, and then seeing if that guy and Savage can develop into a starter.

That process can take years.

Sorry, I feel a little discouraged today.

If obriens offense is that hard to grasp I am worried. ESP if mallet har time in that type of system Before and can't grasp this one.
Makes me wonder how Long it would take a rookie to learn O'briens system

Was driving home after dinner and was changing the radio station, eventually I just left it on some random rap song, wouldn't you believe, Ludacris was rapping and he said "Everybody got 99 problems but ain't got sacks like J.J. WATT!"

I live in ATL, and that was shocking to hear him of all people included in a rap song.

At that point, i'd have to believe you're borderline "Iconic" because if I ever hear a rap song mention an athlete it's usually LeBron or Kobe.

understand but much better than give a (cough) Cushing deal and then player gets hurt. To look on positive side IF Texans want Mallett he could accept less and still be healthy by OTAs

Which of course has nothing to do with my post. He had injury to ACL in 2012 and then a fibula in 2013. Waiting a couple months into the '13 season to re-sign him would have cost nothing and would have been economically prudent. Refusing to negotiate with a player during season is silly.

Why wait?

It's a gamble. You're hoping to catch a good player in a downswing & use that to your advantage when negotiating. Odds are that we'd have paid Cushing more had we waited till week 6 for Cushing to prove he's the same guy he was before the injury. Then Rick Smith would look like a bigger fool when Cushing got injured (totally unrelated to his previous injury) the very next game.

& you can't tell me that you weren't convinced by week 6 that he was still a badass.

Not hoping for anything. As CND has pointed out repeatedly that a player have an issue with one extremity often has ongoing issues with it or the other side. I know this was not case with Brian but why not wait until mid season at least? If he looks good, give him the bucks and if not and he didn't, it's a whole nuther thing.

CnD said we can expect Cushing to come back at 100%. That injury had no bearing on his current injury. Saying we should have waited, is like saying we shouldn't have signed Jj Watt to his deal, at least two years early, because he might get injured this year...

If complications were to arise from his first injury, I could understand & even agree with what you're saying... Matt Schaub for example. I don't think the Texans had sufficient proof that he was healthy.

& yeah, there's an argument that Cushing wasn't either, but his second injury is not proof to that effect.

The only way to be certain things don't go south on you in this fashion is to never re-sign anyone, and just let them all walk (and then don't sign Ed Reed (or anyone for that matter) to replace them when they do). The Cardinals handled Carson Palmer just like you're talking about, and he blew out his knee in literally the very first game he played after agreeing to the deal (game 6).

When you do the deal is an arbitrary cutoff because there's always gonna be a next game. Whether it's the off-season, and that next game is the season opener, or whether you're the Cardinals, and that next game is game 6 of the 2014 NFL season.

Those points are all right, but Cushing is different from Watt in that Cushing already had an overwhelming history of injuries. That's why I said at the time that the big contract extension was stupid.

You're right... I think that was after his second injury, but before we knew the true extent of it.

Still, the point remains. The second injury had nothing to do with complications from the first, or any compensatory affects of the first.

A player stuck his helmet in Cushing's knee. You can't not give him a contract because a player might put a helmet through his knee.

Now saying it would have been prudent not to sign him until after that season is fine. But using that injury as justification doesn't wash.

Minimalist NFL Logos

The NFL season thus far has been…interesting, to say the least. We all know that the lockout must end asap, but we can’t help but look on with incredulous curiosity (with a hint of morbid amusement) as the replacement refs continue to make a mockery of the game.

But enough of that.

The reason I bring up the ludicrosity of the past 3 weeks is because I happened upon these beautifully redesigned NFL logos by Matt McInerney. Even if you’re not a football fan, you can’t deny that these minimalist interpretations are clever, engaging, and oftentimes a lot more alluring than the current logos.

I think the goal post one is way cool the way it integrates the H-T and the Texas star into a minimalist design.

Did they fine Kareem for throwing the football into the stands? I think he got it to the second level.
 
Watching these games (I really haven't watched any games except Texan's games) just reemphasized how special Watt is.

Throughout the last two weekends and watching the different teams defensive lines do their thing. I couldn't help to think about Watt and how he is head and shoulders above everyone else.
