My concern is that pain is the body's way of telling you that it is damaged. Especially an unrehabbed high ankle sprain can easily cause joint instability (many times evolving to chronic), which can lead to ongoing pain, swelling, and grinding of the ankle articular cartilages, with eventual arthritis. Not all stretched/torn ligaments go back to original normal short length, and can be the cause of future recurrent sprains. I hope that a short term "satisfaction" does not evolve into long term damage and debility.
I used to believe that there was a difference between pain and injury. Having had 1 joint replacement and needing 3 others, I see the folly of my ways. 54 yo me would slap the shite out of 24 yo me.
