Brian Gaine Fired

What does this have to do with Caserio replacing Gaine? From what I've read BOB said the reason he wanted a change was that he wanted to do more time coaching and less time evaluating personnel.

Wow so now he doesn't want the responsibility after getting the previous GM fired.

What a circus show over there on Kirby Dr.

Dang that bad huh.

Had to step back. Always cared way too much about the NFL and eventually something had to give. I have slowly shifted over to the Astros and it is admittedly somewhat due to the 2017 title. It was starting before that though as this bunch of players started hitting the major leagues. I never cared for baseball before but as I've gotten older the pace is a better fit for me. Also the huge number of games minimizes that feeling of complete disaster that the Texans are so good at giving me following an important prime-time game and the bed-shitting that always comes with it. You can win series after series and the losses in there just don't kill my soul the way a loss in the NFL does.

With distance comes peace for me. I'll never give up my sanity for these buffoons again.

Isf Caserio wants to come here, he could have told his buddy easterby " I want to go to Texans". Easterby says nothing in reply but gives new employer heads up. IMO, no tampering. Burden of proof would be on New England.
I can easily see how that could have been the case. If Caserio breached the subject, that is not tampering by the Texans.

Complaint: Fired Texans GM Brian Gaine 'targeted' African American employees in series of firings
RecentlyfiredHouston Texans general manager Brian Gaine “targeted” African American employees in a series of firings during his tenure, a former Texans security coordinator alleged in a complaint filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Jeff Pope, who was notified he would not be retained by the team May 8, made a series of allegations in a 4,500-word charge of discrimination complaint obtained by USA TODAY Sports early Thursday morning. Gaine was fired by the Texans on Fridaywith little insight into the move disclosed by the team.

Attempts to reach Gaine were not immediately successful Thursday morning.

Texans spokesperson Amy Palcic told The Houston Chroniclethat Pope’s allegations of racial bias “was not a factor in the recent decision to relieve Brian Gaine from his job as general manager.”

At some point in time I crossed a line and went from being a "Texans fan" to something more like an audience member on the Maury Povich Show or a rubber-necker in traffic slowly creeping past a grisly accident. I no longer care if they win or lose. I'm just here to watch the show and see how bad they're going to screw up the next thing when it comes along. If I'd stayed a fan I think I'd eventually have gone mad from watching this stupid family run this stupid team.

Learning to laugh at them helps.

Would explain a lot. I mean, Organizations like the Texans get lawsuits filed against them all the time but if they were thinking about making a move anyway it could have sealed the deal and been the reason they made such a quick one.

Who reported he'll testify?

I think Cal is like his Dad. He's absolutely terrified of making a decision on his own and becoming the face of the franchise. Bob McNair stuck to Rick Smith like a security blanket, and now we have O'Brien just running roughshod throughout the org. He's run off 2 GMs in less than 2 years.
OB is going to go through GMs like he did with qbs. lol

And the hits just keep a coming.

Boston is considered one of the most racist cities in the country, if not the most. Just saying...

I want caserio. But this has been a dumpster fire starting with letting gaine go after the draft. I don't think the pats would file a frivolous complaint.
as someone pointed out earlier, it's a stall tactic. Now if they won't give Caserio the GM title in NE, not sure what they're buying time to do.

I have no idea how any of this works. Does the status of tampering change if he has a GM title or something? Not saying they were originally or not, but just asking.

Here's the even more sensationalist version - https://abc13.com/sports/ex-texans-employee-says-he-was-fired-because-hes-black/5344618/

Since 2017, Pope was the team's security coordinator. He claims he was fired last month by then-General Manager Brian Gaine, who was fired himself last week after only one season with the Texans.

"That spoke to me as an attorney," said N. Lucy Chukwurah, Pope's attorney. "Seems to me that's a remedial action to limit their damages."

She says the official reason for termination the Texans gave was because Pope has no law enforcement background, something that wasn't required when he was hired. His job was mostly about logistics, she explained.

In his lengthy complaint, Pope listed a half-dozen other African American men who, he said, were also fired by Gaine.

Chukwurah believes discrimination is part of the Texans' culture.

"Clearly, from the statement made last year of the inmates running the prison, this seems to be a top-down treatment of African Americans," Chukwurah said. "My clients were accused of hanging out while on the job, when they were eating lunch. Made to feel uncomfortable when they took lunch together. This is not what an organization the stature of the Texans should be engaging in."

His lawyer won't exactly send the Texans scurrying. https://www.bbb.org/us/tx/houston/p...r/n-lucy-chukwurah-law-group-pc-0915-90048131

It's according to polls

Poll: Are you a racist?

Yes:

No:

I could see more people in Boston as dumb enough to mark yes than in other cities. Reminds me of Good Morning Vietnam, we go and ask people are you the enemy and if they say yes we shoot them.

Your source is a leftist publication that has tons of "hate white people" articles and that's who your "expert" of who is racist is? :spit:

It was actually asking minorities, and they ranked Boston the least welcoming. The south is not considered racist despite stereotypes

How is it a stall tactic? Why would they stall for a couple days? Why would they risk a fine for frivolous complaints?

Pats lose people all the time. As long as you don't tamper, they don't care.

Texans are dumb enough to tamper. Especially after making a motivational speaker a high ranking executive

I still want them to win but if they don't it doesn't bother me nearly as much as it did a few years ago.

So many Sundays ruined because of what happened with this team on the football field. But that's my fault.

It feels good to not really care so much anymore. Strangely like an accomplishment.

Not sure who Daenerys is in this instance, but the chains are broken.

Because the Patriots are trying to block him. It's like trying to block the shot of someone not trying to shoot.

Why bother?

Pretty sure he could just tell the Texans don't bother if he wasn't at least considering it or want to hear them out.

...probably all surreptitiously like when he told them he was interested.

I take it you aren't familiar with how the New England Patriots operate?

Casserio could have, and may very well have, zero interest whatsoever in the Texans job, and NE would pull this move. It's what they do and have always done.

Nice try of repudiation without any sources to dispute the actual data.

When you're finished being a laughingstock, let us know, will ya'? Now, be quiet, adults are talking.

Paul Gallant KNOWS what? And if the next GM is not Caserio, why would the Texans lose draft picks?

Because, like idiots, they decided to tamper and lock horns with a much superior mind: Belicheck. And they lost, like you always will when you do that.

they have to have proof of intent. photos of two guys who worked together for years chatting at the ring ceremony is weak sauce. The Pats know this. What's fine (to a billionaire no less) vs. a shot at getting compensation in the way of draft picks? They're rolling the dice. And it gives Kraft/Belichick a couple of days (or more, who knows how fast Goodell will settle this) to convince the guy to stay in NE

having said all that, let me be clear, it was speculation.

now if somebody finds a text msg/email from O'Brien to Easterby where O'B directs Easterby to ask him to come here and be the Texans GM....
but they aren't that sloppy are they??

Rumor is the Texans and Pats might possibly make a deal for Caserio for a mid round pick.

If Texans deal their 3rd round pick that Gaine just got for Honey Badger I'm going to start off HATING this move.

Why.Give.Draft.Capital.

We are trying to build around Watson, why give up potential pieces?!

Idiotic if things play out that way.

All they have to do is ask easterby and caserio what was said.

Quite a stretch to think caserio would lie to protect the Texans.

Again, when is the last time the pats filed tampering charges?

That's all I see this as...a delaying tactic. Delay the Texans enough (without actively "blocking" Caserio) and the GM search will move on without him. This way, the Pats get to play victim while still finding a way to block him.

O'Brien has never valued picks. He constantly wastes them.

You are letting yourself down with a reply like this.

Refute your point with logic and examples instead of using a poorly chosen racist source that's been humiliated over the last few years on their reporting and their layoffs rather than using an ad hominem attack. My links easily proved by case of it being an unfit source to use.

Wow...all that typing and you still haven't provided a single source to repudiate Boston's racist reputation? Gee, I wonder why that is? :cricket:

Easterby can say, "This is silly. I don't have the authority to offer the GM job to anyone." which is technically true. A job offer has to come from Cal. Caserio can say, "we just chatted about old times". Also likely true.

Anyone who reads the sports news knew the Gaine had been fired so of course that MIGHT have come up. So...?

You can tamper without the ability to offer the job. Easterby is a high level executive.

Also, I'm sure easterby will say that, but will caserio corroborate?

To be fair you only provided one source from one writer, what Texecutioner is doing is calling that writer unbiasedness into question which is a legitimate argument. As far as Boston goes I don't know if it is or not, all I know is its got some great historical spots and its the reason we can't get any decent tea any more.

Except the supposed tampering occurred before Gaine was fired

I wasn't the one with the burden to prove. One post of mine eliminated the credibility of the source and accuser.

Your follow up posts eliminated yourself from objectivity, because all you did was fling insults.

Why is it clear?

Dude you're getting really bad with the double standard thing. You post some twitter comment that supports your points and we're all suppose to just accept it. Someone posts one that disagrees with you and they have to prove and clarify it. At least be consistent, either you accept all of them are you think all of them are just talking out of their a$$ to get clicks. Personally I prefer the latter.

I edited after your reply...
but Gaine's sudden firing was headline NFL news so you know that Caserio knew the job was open. Everyone did. Unless Easterby told Caserio the job was coming open before Gaine got fired, the Texans-centered conversation could have been simply Caserio being curious as to what happened.

now, having said all that, I'm just saying tampering will be tough (not impossible - if they got email sloppy) for the NFL to prove.
