Hey all, I just got word from my stepdad (who's a HPD officer) that one of his policemen buddies just arrested Jacoby Jones for DWI.
I doubt this news is out yet, but what do ya'll make of it, and what potential consequences are there for him?

If this is true...that's too bad. If its a first offense, its a misdemeanor that will likely have him pay a fine and I think maybe a little probation.
If you kill someone in a DUI accident, you can get up to 20 years prison time per person that is killed.
1st offense
Texas Criminal Status: Class B Misdemeanor
Jail: Minimum 72 hours, or 6 days if open container is present.
Texas DWI Fines/Costs: Fine not to exceed $2,000. Other administrative and evaluation fees may be assessed. TX imposes a surcharge for a DWI on top of regular fines. The surcharge is $1,000 per year for three years for a first DWI offense and $2,000 if the persons BAC level was double or more the legal limit (.16). Texas License Suspension: Yes, 1 year. Attending DWI Education class may avoid this. Occupational license may be granted based on need.
Violation of Zero Tolerance Law: N/A
Texas Conditional License: A conditional, or occupational license, may be issued based on "essential need" and usually only when the court orders an offender into alcohol assessment/rehabilitation. Offenders who have been granted occupational licenses within 10 years are ineligible. For definitions of essential need, see Transportation Code Section 521.241.
Vehicle Impound: None
Texas DWI School: First time offenders must complete a 12 hour DWI Education Program within 180 days of when probation was granted or risk having their license revoked.
Texas Probation: Terms of probation decided by judge or jury.
Texas Community Service: 24 hours required, but no more than 100 hours.
Will edit title to make it clear that is a rumor and will track thread closely. If nothing comes of this a relatively short time frame will close thread.
Understandable.
Sorry for getting a tad bit off topic, but the guy who arrested him according to my step-dad (His name's Zach, I played FF with him this past year) took a look in JJ's phone and he had Ocho Cinco's number, along with a few others. :o Pretty cool that a 4th string WR would have his number, imo.
I guess any Bengal would be a good source for legal representation. They would know the in and outs of getting arrested for stupid stuff.
How stupid can this kid be? You make good money - call a damn cab. Why risk a DUI?
I hope it's not true and I agree the thread should be removed if a credible source cannot be found (not saying your info. is "incorrect" AnthonyE or that your making this up)! I just want to see a "publication", whose credibility is on the line (and not on an internet message board) confirm this.
This thread should be removed until a more concrete source can be found. Unless AnthonyE's stepdad's friend (sounds like my brother's cousin's brother's best friend to me) is willing to step forward...
This is a guys rep we are talking about here...
Everybody relax, it says RUMOR in the title, Arilington Texan has already stepped in and said how it will be handled and aptly I might add. I think everyone here can discern what is going on. There are a few hundred loyal fans on here and that's about it, that would defend him if it is not true. His rep is fine at the moment.
This is how the garbage about Jeff Alm started. People still fervently believe it's true, even though it's the complete opposite of true.
hence the rumor
And Richard Gere likes geribals....I understand what you are saying, I think it is being managed properly by the Mods, we don't want this to be true. Most of us anyway *looks over shoulder for Blazing Arrow*. I sincerely hope this is not the case also.
I am pretty a skeptical person generally speaking anyway.
Jeff Alm? I have no clue what was said there, first I have heard of it.
Must have been a rumor in the Houston area. It involved Alm and his "buddy".

Not trying to start trouble but there were about 50 different sides that came up with a similar story on the Alm deal..cops swearing it was true, etc.. and I have a hard time believing some part is not true. JMO. Just too much of whio said what still out there. As far as Jacoby...just wait until things come out.
Well, he was arrested for something last night...

JONES JACOBY R 07/11/1984 Out of Custody HARRIS COUNTY JAIL
Well, crap. This sucks. It's his name, it's Harris County, and it's his birthday.
I HATE it when Texans players get in trouble with the law, because it takes the sting out of my constant attacks on the Dallas Cowboy fans in my family. I love to remind them about all the crack, arrests, drug dealing, and how PacMan Jones will be joining the team soon. (Not that he definitely will, but I love telling them how he's a perfect fit)... so it gives me little ground to stand on when our guys screw up.
One thing to note.... there is an arrest, but no details on a charge.
If he got down there and didn't blow a .08, they might not have charged him with a DWI.

Let's not make this thread about Jeff Alm. I assure you, it's not true. Back to JJ. If it's true, I hope he fixes his problems fast. This stuff won't fly in Houston, and he knows it.
HOUSTON -- Houston Texans wide receiver Jacoby Jones was arrested overnight and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said Sunday.
Police said they stopped Jones at about 2 a.m. Sunday. He posted a $500 bond and was released, officials said.
The Texans said they're still gathering information about the arrest, and they said they're not yet ready to comment.
Pretty sure we already have one anyways...I guess it's OK to remove the RUMOR and the "?" now.
C'mon JJ, let's start focusing on NEXT year...we need another KR/PR in the Pro-Bowl!
Take a bunch of money and throw it at a young person who never had that kind of money before, and it's a recipe for disaster.
Not that a 3rd round draft choice is loaded with money, but still NFL pay is quite a bit higher than cooking burgers at McDonalds or starting pay in almost any field.
I know nothing about JJ personally, having read nothing about his personal life, but I hope he makes it through this. He has a fantastic future with the Texans and I hope he pulls through this. I also hope we, as fans, keep some perspective on this.

Thats not what we are talking about.
Yay, I'm not a liar!
But in seriousness, it's a shame that this happened. I was hoping for big things out of Jacoby this year, and that he might have had a crazy 2nd year jump like Mario did. Oh well, I'm sure that this won't have an effect on the season. He can just pay his fees and serve is time. I'm wondering if Kubiak will do anything about it though.

Damn, JJ, damn. I hope he takes this as a learning experience and keeps his nose clean from here on out.
So, what's the facts so far?
I will admit in a minute I am wrong. That's because quite often I am. LOL
Houston Texans wide receiver Jacoby Jones is free on bail after being arrested near downtown early early this morning on suspicion of drunk driving, officials said.
Jones, 23, was stopped by HPD patrol officers about 3 a.m. on Chartres near Gray near downtown, officials said.
A Houston police spokesman didn't know what caused the officers to become suspicious of Jones, who was selected by the Texans during the third round of last year's NFL draft.
"It was basically a DWI investigation," said HPD Sgt. John Chomiak. "There was no accident involved."
Jones was taken into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated his first offense. The bail was set at $500, which was paid later Sunday morning.
