Kubiak would drive me nuts how he could play up tempo, get a lead, take his foot off the accelerator and hand over the momentum. He never could figure that out.I don't think DeMeco is going to fall into that "play it safe" tendency that Kubiak and O'Brien would do when they had a lead in the 2nd half.
He's got a middle linebacker mentality of keeping your boot on the opponent's neck until 0:00. That's badass.
This team is going to have the personality of a middle linebacker with an assassin at QB.
I hope he picks it up on the other 72%.
The defense isn't that young. The offense is getting a lot of deserved attention but we can't forget how well our defense has played.
When if ever is the last time the Texans have a shut-out in the first half of 2 games in a row. Sure there has been some luck involved (missed field goal etc.) but that still says a lot about this young defense.
That tweet was posted ~2.30 PM................the announcement of the MCL did not come out until an hour ago. The website has always been behind times. Those responsible for the Depth Chart do not routinely closely follow and communicate with the medical personel.Well that cant be right...thought they just said Kendrick Green out with torn meniscus???
And some here have said that they never or seldom saw him double teamed.Difference maker.
Hopefully the latter. Is he talking about Burney, the guy who enabled a sexual predator being a man of god, or Robinson being a man of god?
talking about Robinson b/c obviously Burney isnt ballin'Is he talking about Burney, the guy who enabled a sexual predator being a man of god, or Robinson being a man of god?
Slowick probably needs to open with the pass and then try not to use Dell as a RB.
I'm not saying Slowick called a perfect game. I questioned many of those outside runs, as well. But if you look at the 4thQ TD drive, he called 8 runs vs 3 passes. The runs were good for 29 yards, for a 3.6 ypc. Not great, but the Texans were able to run over 5 minutes of clock on that drive. And get the Falcons out of their 2 deep safety look. Stroud and Schultz were able to burn the lone safety for the TD.Slowick probably needs to open with the pass and then try not to use Dell as a RB.
On that last drive I loved what he was doing because I knew what was coming, but I kept asking myself why didn’t he do this all game. He kept getting cute by running outside when it wasn’t working and with Dell a couple of times. The inside runs didn’t bother me much.I'm not saying Slowick called a perfect game. So what I'm saying is that abandoning the run, even when not efficient, is a bad idea. The threat of the run slows the pass rush and helps dictate the defensive coverage. Of course, improving the efficiency of the run game should be a major priority. Having the starters on the O-Line return and get settled in should help in that regard.
Well crap, if it ain’t working...
When Dell was drafted many thought that his quickness and speed would be excellent in end sweeps. I guess that is changing now?Slowick probably needs to open with the pass and then try not to use Dell as a RB.
Maybe on a screen but not when the whole right side comes rushing in as soon as he gets the ball. When Dell was drafted many thought that his quickness and speed would be excellent in end sweeps. I guess that is changing now?
This is what I am saying we shouldn't pin completely on Slowick. Cj may be checking down to many of those.
IMO, that situation is sign of poor play calling or CJ not audibling into something else.Maybe on a screen but not when the whole right side comes rushing in as soon as he gets the ball.
I would start with the lack of cohesion among the linemen. Injuries, guys playing out of position, new offense. It's as much about not working in sync as ability. Why can't we run better? To me this is the #1 issue for the team.
Houston is tied for last on rush yards per carry at 3.

Sweeps still require blocking. When Dell was drafted many thought that his quickness and speed would be excellent in end sweeps. I guess that is changing now?
The Atlanta game felt very Obrienish on the offensive side of the ball and very old Texansish on the defensive side. Opposing QBs and receivers have career-high games.
I may have to rethink this. The Texans overall, 5 game, run blocking grade ranks smack in the middle at #16. But our rushing yards ranks us #26 and our yards per carry is dead last #32.All you have to do is look at the run blocking grades to understand why we are incapable of running the ball.
The question should be: why are our OLmen blocking so poorly? Is it lack of talent? Is it the scheme? Is it the coaching? Is it simply because of the injuries?
Very. Now, the run blocking grade is subjective
I'm curious about Singletary - and even the 3rd back - surely one of them should fit the ZBS? And if so, wouldn't we be using them and riding on the winning horse?I may have to rethink this. This needs explaining.
There's been speculation about Pierce's running style not being a fit for our ZBS. There may be something to this.
Now, the run blocking grade is subjective, but overall, may be better than I thought. So I'm forced to look elsewhere and RB is a logical place to look.
The Vikings seem to have used Boone effectively in 2019 and 2020. I think he's run the ball once this year. He's taken 40 snaps, 31 on passing plays.I'm curious about Singletary - and even the 3rd back - surely one of them should fit the ZBS? Well I would think play calling would have to play a major role in this and it doesnt help when you try the same damn play that nets NEGATIVE 3-5yds per attempt several times a game...especially when running between the tackles was working well enough to pick up 3+yds a carry.I may have to rethink this.
