Texans random thought of the day

I don’t know if memory fails me but I think I’m right in saying it was league policy that every club plays prime time at least once per season, and that has changed at some point recently?

Fine by me, I look forward to watching them earn that privilege back, prime time games kick off after midnight here and as I’ve got older and more responsible have changed from being a fun all nighter to a right pain of a commitment, so yeah, I’ll have a team worthy of it before I have to commit to it again hopefully.

This was changed by the networks that are paying $$$ Billions. I think they told the NFL that if they had to broadcast games no one was going to watch then they would reduce the amount of Billions they were paying the NFL. The NFL was happy to oblige their broadcast partners.

Yep I'm with you on that Welsh-Tex.
I think somebody said elsewhere that it will kinda put a little chip, so to speak, on the collective shoulders of our young Texans.
We want our boys hungry for success and the recognition of that success when it comes.

'We have to earn it' Houston Texans planning to use primetime snub as motivation, head coach says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The Houston Texans rookies took the field for the first time during the team's minicamp on Friday.

The midday practice was perfect practice for the team's regular season, as the Texans will play almost all of their games at that time.

"Not having any primetime games, that's the one thing that we kind of look forward to," Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said to the media.

"One thing that I've learned is I've just looked at it as for us as a team. We have to go out and earn our right to be in those primetime moments. So it was a good opportunity for our team to go out, put our heads down, work, and prove where we belong. Excited about it."

Following Thursday's NFL schedule release, it was revealed only four teams would not play a primetime game in 2023: the Texans, the Colts, the Falcons, and the Cardinals.

In 2022, those teams combined for a record of 18-48-2.

Ryans, who served as defensive coordinator for the NFC finalist San Francisco 49ers last season, says he feels his team has nothing to prove to anyone outside.

The Houston Texans conclude the 2023 NFL Draft by picking Dylan Horton, Henry To'oTo'o, Jarrett Patterson, Xavier Hutchins, and Brandon Hill.

"For me, it's not about showing the NFL anything," Ryans stated.

"It's about us as a team just going out, working, and when you humble yourself and you work, you put your head down and work, you're deserving of those things, then they'll come to you. So that's what it does for me, the internal motivation as opposed to external. We don't have to go out and prove anything to anyone else. It's just about who are we going to be as a team? What are we going to represent when we line up on Sundays?"

Sixteen of the Texans' 17 kickoff times were announced. The team is currently expected to play 15 games at noon and one at 3:05 p.m.

Their 17th game time has yet to be determined.

I had a half day road trip today, and listened to 610 (that was a mistake). During the morning and afternoon sessions, there was nonstop criticisms by them (including taped rants by McClain) about the fact Dell, but most importantly Stroud were not allowed to speak to the media during minicamp. Their main accusation is that Casserio had brought "the Patriots way" to the Texans.

Just a couple of thoughts crossed my mind listening to the 610 jokers.

Not once was there anything brought up about David Canter (Dell's agent) being under investigation for illegal inducement offered to GMs in return for the GM drafting his clients. Whether that was the case with Canter and Caserio (which I would seriously doubt), it would be understandable that the Texans wouldn't want Dell to be interviewed/questioned and have his answers twisted in such a way to promote controversy.

There could be a good reason why Dell specifically may not have spoken to the media.

Revealed last night:

Agent David Canter Is Under Investigation By NFLPA For Offering Inducements To Draft His Clients

Now why then not allow Stroud to speak. Well, with his previous statement making it a point to say that he specifically went to Caserio asking him to draft Dell, that could easily open up Stroud to questions if the media believed that this was only half the story..........again media twisting words insinuating there potentially being something nefarious going on with Caserio and Canter, with Stroud (totally innocent) being used as a cover. I believe the above scenarios are highly unlikely. But just one innocent mispeak by either Dell or Stroud, and the media would gladly open a can of worms on the Texans. The Texans could be waiting just a little while until more information on the Canter incidents allow for the Texans to essentially be exonerated early from any such potential implications, thus avoiding undue unnecessary interview stress on either young man.

These kind of things just seem to find the Texans don’t they?

As with Harden , James not Rusty, Clowney's time on a Houston roster is in the past. As with James and Jadavion who surely would make wherever they go better, I don’t want anything to do with Rusty or the other two. Let's move on.

UUMMM MALI MALI UUMMM The Indianapolis Colts will Suck for Luck Caleb Williams and will dominate the Texans and the AFC South for the next decade and a half.

Clowney at different times has played outside linebacker as well as defensive end.............even with the Texans.
I think perhaps JC has even played a little 3-4 DE besides mostly in the 4-3 of course.
Demeco left Houston years before Clowney arrived, right ?
Clowney has been one of my favs but dunno how I'd feel about him finishing up here, even if he was affordable which is unlikely ?
Time to turn the page.
