I just finally lost it after telling him what I dont care for about BOB and him repeatedly saying I'm a BOB apologist. My fault I shouldn't let his type get the best of my emotions.

Miami could trade out of 1.1 and pick up a fantastic package and still get five to six starters with their rounds 1 and 2. In my opinion this was a perfect year for them to exercise this plan. They should be able to get a prime starting QB, wide receiver like Jerry jeudy, a cornerback or 2, a LT and lots of depth in their draft. Oh, and they have 2 first round and 2 second rounds in 20 21.
NFL Network draft analyst Bucky Brooks: “Accumulating a war chest of draft picks looks great on paper, but picking the players is a challenge. If first round-picks carry a 50% success rate, the Miami Dolphins would need to be exceptional drafters to match the value of what walked out of the door.
“It sounds nice, but the odds are against them nailing enough picks to move the needle. Just look at the history of teams with multiple picks.. It’s hard to find teams who’ve successfully parlayed draft picks into peak performance from multiple players from the same draft class.”...
I've tried to play nice.

And yet they’re being criticized by GMs around the league for the path they’ve taken with the knowledge the draft is a crapshoot. They’ll be drafting the same players they’ve traded away.

And we’re back to the same crap as always. I was just on the Dolphins forum and they are happier about their team and more hopeful about the future than we are.
That about sums it up for me. I wish it was different. I really, really do. I enjoy watching the Texans on Sundays, and look forward to the games all week. Being able to be optimistic about each game makes it even better. But it is difficult to be optimistic with the current Texans' head coach in control.Somewhere in between with a new version of an old reason to be upset/disappointed in Bill O'Brien.

Bucky Brooks is not one of the NFL GM's the last I checked LOL. If the statistics of first-round picks at 50% is true, Miami will more than likely have 1.1 which will be a much higher percentage of success. Even trading down to the top 15 would still be a higher than 50% success ratio in my opinion. In addition, trading down if you spot could bring one or two vets with greater than 50% chance in the NFL while still getting a round pick in that trade down. And yet they’re being criticized by GMs around the league for the path they’ve taken with the knowledge the draft is a crapshoot. if Miami traded the third first round pick for Jalen Ramsey and used their 1.1 projected for a trade down to include drafting wide receiver Judy from Alabama and one or two starting vets and then use their first round pick from Houston to get a quarterback they would look pretty good going into 2020 in my opinion. Their two seconds could bring good o line also.Which is another reason fans should be happy with the trade for Tunsil.

I am cool with the tonsil trade. I'm also very cool with where Miami has stationed themselves. Chris Grier and head coach Flores could both be gone in 2020 in my opinion.Only about 50 percent of 1st Rd picks hit.
At least you know what you have in Tunsil.
Miami could be good or not, with Greir running the show I would bet on not.
What's wrong with not taking a negative view of everything? I haven't heard or read anyone praising OB, just realizing that there is more to the story than just OB.
So stop bogging down threads about who's too negative and who's too sunshiny, and talk about f*^cking football. There’s an ignore feature on this board. You do have the power to control some of this stuff.
Can we stop worrying about negative vs positive and who is what and all that BS?
I want the Texans to win more than anyone, or at least as much as anyone. My comments stem from what I see from the team. Unfortunately, there's been a lot more negative to comment on than positive for a while now. Doesn't mean I'm a negative person or have some BS agenda. It's just the results of what the team has shown ME on and off the field. Not an agenda, the Texans did it.
Case in point, I've commented just recently how much improved the o-line looked Sunday, over what they looked like in week 1, particularly Nick Martin. I still think it was stupid to make him the 2nd highest paid C in the NFL, but dude had a really, really good game Sunday. At least in pass pro, I didn't watch any run plays. So no, I'm not sitting here hoping Martin trips over his own feet every game to back me thinking his contract is stupid, so I can come back with a "see I told you so". I don't operate like that as a person.
We all have our opinions and we are all wrong a lot more than we think. Just go back a look at the JJ Watt draft thread. Hilarious how many people thought what they did, argued vehemently about it, and were dead wrong.
In my opinion, Bill O'Brien is an average coach who struggles with in game decisions, game planning, and offensive design, among other things. Not because I don't like him and want him gone, but because that's what I've seen from him in 5+ years. I also think he's below average when it comes to player evaluations, from what I've seen in 5+ years, and now he's the damn GM. That personally doesn't leave me feeling good about the direction this team is on. Could be wrong, could be right, I don't really care. I just need to see the needle move and it hasn’t in 5+ years. And that's going to have to happen first before I can get behind anyone in the offices on Kirby.
I don't have an agenda other than wanting better for the Houston Texans. I want out of this purgatory of mediocrity, and after 5+ years, I don't believe in my heart of hearts that OB is the one to pull us out of it. In fact, he's one of the main reasons we're stuck there. So if that's an agenda, then so be it. But that still doesn't dictate how I comment. I comment based on the actions and results I see, good or bad.

This isn't really aimed at you Speedy just your post is a chance to highlight a point.
I would be on board with this except no one can just "talk about f*^cking football" on this board without attacking anyone that disagrees with them, beating the same dead horses over and over or trying to invalidate someone's point by saying they are just a [insert whoever] lover. Likewise everyone is paying lip service to the whole "we all have opinions and we're all wrong a lot" but fact is when they are actually saying it and then defending it not only do they not think they're wrong but they wouldn't even entertain the idea they are wrong and that anyone that has a different view point is an idiot. At that point the whole 'Its a discussion" line becomes BS and it resembles more a "debate" between Dem and Rep presidential candidates than a couple of football fans. People are passionate, I get it, but passion is no excuse for people to abandon the basics of common courtesy nor to just automatically disregard what the other person is saying.

A lot of the "negative" people are just negative on O'Brien and are actually far more positive on Watson, Crennel and other aspects of the team.
But since O'Brien is head coach, GM, oc, playcaller, timeout and challenge flag guy, it comes back to him and how he screws every part of his job up
I don't believe they're being that aggressive. They're acting out of desperation . A trend that's be going for quite some time now.. All because they're mortgaging the future for one player you like, doesn't mean they're being aggressive. Bill O'Brien, RAC and Delvin jobs are on the line. Cal is not messing around.

The only thing that changed on Kirby is full power to Bill O'Brien. The dysfunctional aspect of it all is still there. Reason why we currently don't have a true GM. The reason why were given away all of our draft capital. Another reason why this time next year we're more and likely be in tax hell. ( Watson getting the highest paid QB extension and Tunsil getting the highest paid LT extension. So I really don't know how you think that's a step in the right direction.

We can only hope that if OB gets fired the Texans can hire a smart GM like the Rockets or Astros, because if we don't win it all this year, it's going to be a mess for a while. You're not wrong but at the same time last time Denver won the Superbowl they had gone into win now mode, built a team that was completely unstainable long term and bet it all on one season. Since then they have struggled to be even middle of the pack because they are still recovering from the "Win now" mode season. Was it worth it? It won them a SB but what have they done since then? Its why I hate win now mode moves, because you are putting yourself into long term problems for short term gain. Its even worse if you don't win it all which frankly with looking at the other teams out there I don't see how the Texans can.

Maverick they reached for the stars twice and came up short both times. ( Solders and Brown). If they were able to acquire either one of these guys, we probably wouldn't be so bad off. We would still have our top draft capital choices.

Oh and we have been working out the darn kinks for 5 years. Lol
So you dont think there will be kinks with a very young QB and basically 2 rookie OL?
I’d rather have both, or at least a version of it. I think they could have found a more painless way in protecting Watson than giving away even one draft pick and that would have started with Clowney pre 2019 draft.I would rather have Tunsil, draft picks be damned

A longtime former NFL general manager who requested anonymity during a phone conversation Tuesday: “This is too risky to strip to this level. It’s not how many freakin’ picks you have, but how many do you hit on. I like Chris Grier, but is he going to hit on most of these picks? I have doubts. It’s a crapshoot. Tua [Tagovailoa] is a good prospect, but he’s surrounded by such great players. They have three or four first-round skill position guys. He gets protection all day. He’s 6-1, and he can’t run [like fellow left-hander] Steve Young.”...
You could argue that trading up for Watson was a move out of desperation,
Oh, it absolutely was. But that’s what they do. Let it get so bad that you have little choice but to go into desperation mode. QB, OL, are we doing it with secondary too?
There’s been no forward thinking, no vision with this organization for far too long. They slap bandaids on potential problems until they’re hemorrhaging there and things get desperate.
Bill O'Brien, RAC and Delvin jobs are on the line. Cal is not messing around.
I'm not too sure it's Cal. For all we know, BO'b wants to win more than any of us combined.
He asked his first GM for a LT and he got Julien Davenport. He asked his 2nd GM for a LT and got Martinas Rankin & Matt Kalil. Now that he has all the riffraff out of the way he gave up next year's first for Jeremy Tunsil.
And yet we're seeing the same type of product on the field.
If you were Cal McNair & weren't happy with the product on the field would you
As far as seeing the same product on the field... I'm not sure what we're seeing yet. It's only been two weeks.
- Fire the GM after the draft, after FA?
- Mortgage the future?
- Fire the HC?
1st game reminded me of the Patriots, Seahawks and Eagles game.
2nd game reminded me of those games we should've lost. But the opposite coach bailed us out. Plus the games of no creativity whatsoever and boneheaded clock management.
Add in the fact that Watson is in the top 3 of getting hit already.
A direct repeat from last year and the year before.

It is weird how there is more talent out there yet the result is the same. I mean it looked like a Brock Osweiler game
That part doesn’t surprise me, basically a new line with what two weeks together? Watson and/or BoB going for the home run play instead of the quick pass. Also let’s put him bring the most sacked in perspective, it’s only two weeks into the season and while 10 sacks isn’t good it’s only 1 more than Dalton at with 9 and 4 different QBs with 8 including Mayfield and Wilson.
I’m not happy with it yet but it’s not even close to the train wreck that was the line last year.
Give the Jags defense some credit.
They looked pretty good last night. Campbell is one of the best/most underrated DL in the NFL. Guy is a stud.
The OL may have played better on an individual basis but Watson still got hit too much due to poor scheming.
They're young and will get better.
