Texans random thought of the day

Of course you dont get it.

I didn't like the backup strategy (Still Dont)

I like the draft that Gaine had, better than any draft that Ricky had.

I'm glad they are making trades to help the team. Something that Ricky never did.

Smithiak never had a true contender despite those glorious 12-4/10-6 seasons. In fact BOB has done as much record wise in the playoffs with Ricky or despite Ricky as Kubiak ever did.

I've got hope for the 1st time in a long time that the GM is competent and the franchise is headed in the right direction. It's really not a hard thing for most to understand.

Oh you can best believe I understand exactly what's going on. Best believe that

four seasons and neither has O'Brien.

oh and get back to me when he matches that 12-4 season.

edit:
...I will say he has a legit shot at it this year given the stud QB Smith left him, they guys returning from injury, and the 'easy schedule' (according to some) he has remaining.

I could care less about regular season records. I will get back to you qhen thwy win two playoff games.

This willi probably be next year if Watson stays healthy. I'm just glad for the first time in five years the GM and HC are on the same page.

Newly acquired Deante Burton was an UDFA picked up originally by Falcons in 2017..............he was actually not a CB, but the Falcons converted him from WR last year.

Both Justin Reid (88.9) & Tyrann Mathieu (82.9) rank top-5 among safeties the last 2 weeks

Their stats in that span: Reid: 86.2 cover grade (3rd), INT, PBU & 60.0 passer rating allowed Mathieu: 81.4 grade vs run (2nd) 2 sacks, INT & 38.1 passer rating when targeted

So question for yall, mainly steelb I guess since this topic is his pet peeve. With the reports that the Texans first tried to call about Deshuan Jackson, meaning they were interested in trading for him does this tell you the Texans are going about acquiring talent differently? Not going for the choir boys McNair has been criticized for only letting us get? I mean he has his own past issues, and has admitted he still associates with gang members, seems like things are changing on Kirby to me.

I wonder what grade Kareem gets. This is his career, "you're really good and no-one else can do it, so here's your job for next week (which isn't the same as last week) ... good luck!"
With the lineup of their midseason All-Pro Team announced, two Texans have made the cut.
Meanwhile, Kareem Jackson is having a career year in what is his ninth season. Jackson has been the epitome of a “do it all” player, having filled at virtually every position in the secondary since Week 1 due to mounting injury issues. So far he has notched up 47 combined tackles, eight defended passes, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles.

Unfortunately for Kareem, that's his career. I think the last time he was stable at outside corner was his 2nd or 3rd season. Since then he keeps getting moved around to compensate for injuries and often ends up in the most impossible job in football - slot corner (that also moves outside or over the tightend or HB read/drop or a million other responsibilities). Or in the case of a couple of my favorite games, he goes wild on a player that is having a field day against everyone else. Welker and Calvin Johnson - shut em down 1v1 because he had one assignment. I've been saying it for years and I think 76 has also, Kareem doesn't get a fraction of the credit for how good he is and how much he does. Matthieu is giving Kareem a freedom he's never had before despite still having to cover for injuries.

Joseph is enjoying it as well because they often end up paired on the same side of the field, and that's the hole in Joseph's game - he appears to struggle to establish familiarity with the corners/safeties that zone with him. Not entirely his fault when it's a series of new faces each year, but he and Kareem work in tandem exceptionally well.

Hopefully times are changing.

The jury is out

We'll see.

The upcoming Washington game may have just gotten a little bit easier for the Texans. Their LT Trent Williams just underwent surgery for a dislocated thumb. I can't see him being able to play that soon.

I think the message boards on the Texans official website have been taken down. I can't seem to open The Bull Pen on any of my devices. Not even the computer at work. Has anyone else experienced not being able to open the Bull Pen?
Guess this is the go to message board from now on if that's the case. That's ok. I was spending allot more time here anyways. This is a much better message board by far. If they are gone, they won't be missed.

Since he plays on the O-line, won't they, after a week or two, just put a cast on it and let him play?

I have found out that the website is offline. It's a virtual server and the administrator is unavailable to fix the problem at this time.

They have a message board???

Surely those people dont know what's on the other side of the tracks

I believe that he may have sustained significant ligament damage along with fracture. If so, I would not expect him to play with a padded cast prior to ~3 weeks post op. He will likely need to wear the cast for 4-6 weeks.

Thanks Doc. Appreciate the info.
It's been down for 3 days now. I bet everyone over there thinks it's been closed. They may not try to go back. Just another problem with the official site to run everybody off.
That's ok. This one and our guys are better anyways.

Since the NFL has gone to the mandatory use of their virtual servers for all the message boards, most teams have already chosen not to continue their official message boards.

Not sure how I feel about it - first few weeks scrambling was horrible and taking way to many hits - but last handful of games picking up yards and not taking hits, and the best in the NFL at it...

#Texans QB Deshaun Watson has been the best scrambling quarterback in the league this year.

He's sliding & stepping out of bounds & throwing the ball away now. He wasn't doing that earlier in the year. He's playing smart now.
