Texans random thought of the day

He does it every time and to every team. Lol especially during week 1.

Yeah, but how much information can he really get out of a 3rd TE?

These position players don't have the knowledge of the playbook like QBs do.. all they have to know is their routes and responsibilities on each given play.

Texans will put together a game plan and change the audibles if need be for week 1.

Somebody could say bagels are 50 cents at HEB and that would be your take.

I have my own thoughts and this happens to have been my thought all along. Particularly when guys like you say the Texans cant sign XYZ guy because of the salary cap. Yes they can, they may have to make a few moves but they can. It all comes down to whether McNair wants to spend the money.

So far they are sitting on almost 30 mil in cap space so the answer is they want to keep the money. You can twist that however you would like with your words, but the fact is they didn't do everything possible to keep Watson healthy because keeping the money was more important to them.

if anyone on this forum twist a random bit of information to fit their narrative it is you. McNair doesn't pocket that 30 million they didnt spend, it rolls over to next year when there will be a better free agent pool, and we have a lot of guys coming up for new contracts. they tried giving Solder 16 of that 30 million he didnt take it, and after that there was no one left. it's also funny how you ride Coughlin and the jags jocks because they built a team the "right way" which was sucking to accumulate a lot of high picks, and then not spending all their money every free agency so they could roll it over and be big spenders when the time came. but yea let's casually ignore that because they had a good season last year, and there us no way Brian Gaine is smart enough to plan for the future and not just the season at hand. Hell he is so dumb he went to work for an owner who says he cant spend money right?

The cap space rolls over doesn't it?

Maybe the OL FA class will be a lot better than this year's and unlike Solder, we can actually sign a player worth his contract.
it will be better, the OL draft class will be better, but you can only plan for this season and this season only dont bit her steelb with your future talk

Seth Payne on 610 continuously says people put too much on this theory. There really isn’t much info they could gain from former players. If there is, there’s a bunch of Pats guys that just got cut as well we could pickup.

The point of tjth article to me is,.

If teams want to sign a guy they can always find the money.

# Norwell, Solder etc...
yep. and apparently O'Brien/Devlin didn't bang the table for either of those guys to be signed.
Soooo....

I have a different attitude than you. Everything has a cut-off price. I'd bet they made runs at people like they did at Solder and hit their cut-off. Good discipline and long term strategy in my book.

It's $26 mil by the way.

I bet they said they wasn't doing that anymore after signing Brock Trashweiler. Lol

they offered solder what he got paid, his wife and her family are from the northeast, they have a sick son whose doctors are up in that area. Solder leveraged us to get the amount he wanted from either the giants or the patriots he was never going to come down here. has nothing to do with McNair but letting Gaine pay him

With Lechler and Brax Miller gone and Webb on the PS, who will be the Texans emergency QB?
EDIT: just saw that Webb III was signed to the active roster.

This is not intended to be dig at all, but I ask because I don't know.

How many snaps did Lechler and Braxton take in a regular season game at QB?

What is our ratio in the past of keeping 3 QB's vs just 2?

None that I'm aware of, but it's what teams that only keep 2 QBs on the active roster have.

Fact is they have 30 mil of unused cap space. You say next yrs FA class is better, is it share with us.

You dont know about Solder/Norwell because Gaine didn't choose to spend $$$$ on premium FA's just like every yr with the Texans org. You have to pay the most to get the best FA's unless they are coming off of injury.

Bet you feel differently if/when Watson gets hurt I'm sure you will be blaming BOB/Gaine, but this philosophy comes from the top.

I'm understand this thought process.

But I believe protecting Watson is the most important thing this franchise can do. The cost doesn't matter to me. Let Clowney walk if you have to because keeping Watson healthy is the most important thing they can do since the franchise's inception.

How are you going to feel if/when Watson gets hurt. How much will that 26 mil mean then? McNair (Because he could say get the best OL possible in FA and it would happen.) Gaine/BOB are playing with fire and I hope they dont get burned. It's like the Texans org didn't learn anything from the Carr debacle.

Solder has said himself the money was the same from us and the giants, do some research its not my job to do it for you. its football players get hurt, if Watson gets hurt again then yea I will probably blame OB, because he

He was in love with tough guy breno giacomini even though he was the worst OT I have eve seen. Rick and Kubs built a pretty dang good line, take kubs out and replace him with obrien and our line went to ****. that is facts. You cant blame everything on McNair and ignore o'brien's short comings so far

The difference is they didn't offer Solder more than the NYG's so we will never know if Solder would've come here. All things being equal you knew he was going to the NYG's.

I blame McNair because 1. He never gets heat for anything with this fanbase regardless of the mediocre product he's put on the field for the last 15 yrs. 2. His track record with signing premium FA's thru both theKubiak/BOB regimes, even though the cap space is there to improve the team.

Yep,

Maybe Watson gets his freaking neck broken because they didn't do everything possible to protect Watson.

And maybe the Texans broke the bank for Solder AND Norwell and Watson gets his neck broke because they overpaid FAs. We can play this game all day long. What if til the cows come home. Can't you just give it a break and let at least one game be played before you start in with the " told you so" schtick?

This wasn't meant to be an I told you so post.

It was meant to be a dont tell me they did everything they could to protect their franchise QB post.

Besides, what fun is it not to talk about what could happen before the season starts. For the record I hope I'm wrong about the OL. But an avg OL coupled with an avg RB at best puts alot on Watson's plate, particularly coming off an ACL.

how do you know Solder didnt do what Osweiler did, hit his number at the place he wanted to be at and then not give us a chance to counter? If you look at it from all aspects its pretty clear he wasn't coming here, we were used to get him a larger contract. Kudos to him and his agent that's smart.

McNair does get heat with this fan base, and on this forum plenty. It's not just some asinine theory that he refuses to let his gm spend so he can pocket all the money for himself. Owners must spend 89% of their salary cap over I think a 5 year period. He does get criticized for the idiot things he says, he gets criticism for hiring the wrong guys, he got tons of criticism for being loyal to Rick for so long. He isnt infallable, he hasnt brought this city a winner but how do you expect anyone to believe that McNair told Gaine alright you can spend 16 mil on Solder, but if he wants 17 mil tell him to f off. I'm going to laugh at you because that is just crazy, and you looking to place blame because your man crush didnt do what you wanted him to do

Not because of this post, but because of McNair's track record in FA thru the Kubiak/BOB regimes.

No man crush here. I think Solder is only slightly above avg but protecting Watson makes him worth top LT $$$$.

From everything I've seen, they offered a very competitive contract to Solder. I don't think they were ever in the hunt for Norwell. FWIW, OGs are pretty much considered 2nd class linemen when compared to OTs. You take the fun out of it when it ends up being part of a lot of your posts. Make your point, just don't do it every other post. That's not fun for the rest of us. Maybe you need Festivus....:D

Yep,

Dude, we're not going to go over this crap again, because your entire narrative is completely false since THEY DID TRY TO SIGN SOLDER and offered to make him the highest paid offensive lineman in NFL history. He didn't want to sign here due to family reasons..one being the health issues of his freaking child.

Also..
Maybe Watson gets his freaking neck broken
C'mon man, now you're just being absurd lol :spit:

Not because of this post, but because of McNair's track record in FA thru the Kubiak/BOB regimes.

He wasn't even average last year and wasn't even the best lineman on his own team.

What is the difference. I mean really. The offer was the same. And technically when you consider the tax part of it, the Texans offer was more.

For some estranged reason, you just have to win this debate. Even when there is proof to why Solders didn't sign here. Strictly personal family reasons.

Can we move on from this topic now.
