2011 TexansTalk Member Mock Draft (FULL)

Redskins seem more like a Jerrod Johson (Texas A&M) kind of team to me. Big arm, can scramble, can learn from McNabb and he's as dumb as a sack of bricks. Sounds like a match for them.

Jerrod "McNabb" Johnson, Texas A&M, 6-5 248,
6a00e54f7fc4c58833013487e29385970c-320wi

Johnson has been told he would be selected late or signed as a free agent so Washington Redskins would seem like a good situation & value late 7th.

214.) Baltimore Ravens - rmartin65
215.) New Orleans Saints - JCTexan
216.) Philadelphia Eagles - jgl35
217.) St. Lewis Rams - Texan4Ever
218.) Atlanta Falcons - mariowillshine15
219.) Atlanta Falcons - mariowillshine15
220.) San Francisco 49ers - jay23728
221.) Pittsburgh Steelers -ole miss texan
222.) Green Bay Packers -thunderkyss

The Baltimore Ravens are pleased to select Virginia Union OT David Mims

I see Mims as a future Pro Bowl RT. He has the complete package, just needs some work on his technique. He probably wont contribute much in his first year, but he should at least make the team.

This concludes the Ravens draft.

nice way to wrap it up :)

With the 215th pick the New Orleans Saints select...

80034_south_florida_louisville_football_17498069jpg.jpg

Bilal Powell, RB, Louisville

Power runner with good thickness in the upper and lower bodies. Runs with good lean to get through arm tackles, or even run over smaller defenders. Jumps over would-be tacklers. Looks like a bull, and often runs like one, but can also slide through traffic inside with cuts and fair vision. Fair foot quickness for his size. Nice burst past the line if hole is evident, and strong running makes him difficult to bring down.

Saints draft:

1. Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama
2. Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina
3a. Sam Acho, DE, Texas
3b. Mason Foster, OLB, Washington
7. Bilal Powell, RB, Louisville

similar to Ingram except 7th rd. is much better value. I'll be interested to see who New Orleans selects with that first spot? In our mock (Awtysst) we selected Stephen Paea, but he's got injury issues too, could not talk him into taking Austin but I think he makes more & more sense late first to Saints.

The Ealges select Justin Rodgers CB Richmond.

A very interesting kid. Had 12 picks in college, 7 his first playing year. The next 2 years teams would not throw to his area.
Ran a 4.40 and a 4.42 on his pro day.
Another reason I like him is his kick retuen skills.
Averaged 13.5 yards on punts and 22.9 on kick off returns. Had a total of 2912 yards on kick/punt returns.

I am intrested to see where he goes in the real draft.

The Rams close out there draft with their final selection: Ryan Jones, DB NW Missouri St. Speedy cornerback from a small school who ran a 4.45 40-Yard Dash and provides the Rams with some depth in the secondary.

The Rams selected the following players in the 2011 NFL Mock Draft...

1.) Stephen Paea, DT

2.) Greg Jones, OLB

3.) Edmond Gates, WR

4.) Zach Hurd, OL

5.) Eric Hagg, DB

6.) Ricky Elmore, DE

7.) Evan Royster, RB

7.) Ryan Jones, DB

I focused more on defense because that unit needs help. The only thing Sam Bradford needs on offense is healthy WRs that can cacth the ball and hopefully they can grab some in FA or pick up some UDFAs.

Cross checking my draft with this article .

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/04/16/team-needs-tennessee-titans/

1. Julio Jones WR
2. Jake Locker QB
3. Quan Sturdivant LB
4. Lawrence Guy DL
5. Tim Barnes C
6. Andrew Jackson G
7. Da'norris Searcy SS

love Julio, but Tennessee? fat chance
Tennessee needs to trade (pick up locker around 20) down unless Fairley drops in their laps.
Quan will go in 2nd
Guy is about right, hoping Texans get him?
Barnes is a solid pick here for need
as is Andrew Jackson
Searcy is a real nice one too especially that late

Titans would be thrilled with this draft, nice work :)

Kenny Britt can't stay out of jail which makes clouds things more .

I understand, but can't see them blowing by an elite defensive lineman, unless they get a trade down offer too good to be true (target Locker) QB is also a priority, Lucky for you in this mock still there in 2nd :twocents:

Group picks - he hasn't been around in weeks. Team Needs: DE-WR-OLB-TE-CB-LT-SS. Selections so far, Torrey Smith, WR, Dontay Moch, OLB, DeMarcus Van Dyke, CB, Pernell McPhee, DE, Brandon Bair, DL, Rob Housler, TE, very nice job addressing needs last two of which are LT & SS.

218.) Atlanta Falcons - mariowillshine15 Rob McGill, OT Louisiana Tech, 6-5 310
219.) Atlanta Falcons - mariowillshine15 Jermale Hines, SS Ohio State, 6-1 216

Hey guys I've lost all touch with this. Sorry to do this but just giving you a heads up when the Steelers are up. Please make a group pick. Thanks

He has the skilset to make a PS and eventually a team.

220.) San Francisco 49ers -

221.) Pittsburgh Steelers -

Yes, thanks SM for putting this together, and thanks to Texan4Ever and others for playing a large role in keeping in going.

It was fun!

Now for the votes on best draft based on value and need, as well as the best pick based on value.

I thank you as well SM. It was fun!

TexS, don't leave out 1st place for 'biggest reach'. I'm in the running w/my 1st round pick. :fingergun:

Really enjoyed this. Thanks for letting me play.

Thanks to everybody that put in the time to make this a successful draft. This is part of what makes this a great MB.

Looking forward to next yrs mock draft. LOL

Some picks that I thought were great value:

Round 3

68.) Buffalo Bills - Christian Ponder, QB, Florida State

74.) New England Patriots - Ryan Williams, RB, Virginia Tech

79.) Miami Dolphins - D.J. Williams, TE, Arkansas

Round 4

102.) Arizona Cardinals - Andy Dalton, QB, Texas Christian

Round 5

160.) Green Bay Packers - Jerrard Tarrant, S, Georgia Tech (last pick of Round 5)

Round 7

220.) San Francisco 49ers - Ryan Winterswyk, DE, Boise State (third from last pick)

I was surprised that Ponder fell to the third round. I expect Ryan Williams to go in the 2nd, but I guess it wouldn't be a huge surprise if he was still there in the 3rd. DJ Williams is undervalued on this board IMO. Dalton was a good get for the Cardinals in the 4th. I would think that Tarrant would go higher based on his versatility and ability to play the slot.

The Phins and Cards picks were mine and I think they are both great value, ESPECIALLY Dalton.

He could be late 1st early 2nd come draft day.

Not trying to toot my own horn, but I really think I nailed the Jags draft.

1:16: Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Perdue
About the biggest lock of the draft. Good player who fits a need who is a good all around guy that their GM will LOVE. A football player.

2:49: Martez Wilson, LB, Illinois
Would have taken Ponder had I felt the Jags werent commited to wining with Garrard THIS YEAR. Wilson is a beast who can play ILB or OLB in the Jags 3-4 hybrid defense. A great versatile player to have when players start going down. Personally I think he should go in the first. Almost took him @ 16.

3:80: Randall Cobb, WR, Kentucky
The next Percy Harvin who went in round 1 a couple years back. Has NFL speed and hands. Will make a great x factor in the slot.

4:113: Robert Sands, S, West Virginia
Jags need alot of secondary help. Kinda tall for the safety position. But I think his range is what I like about him. He can cover alot of field in a short amount of time.

4:120: Rashad Carmichael, CB, Virginia Tech
Jags need alot of secondary help. Great value IMO in round 4. Carmichael has all the tools to succeed in the NFL.

5:144: Jeremy Beal, LB, Oklahoma
Gets alot of negative pub for his speed, but played at a big time program making big time plays.

6:177: Nathan Enderle, QB, Idaho
Developmental QB in the 6th that will get his time to sit and learn. A perfect situation for a QB from Idaho.

=================

I also think they Bills did a fine job with their picks.

I enjoyed participating in SM's mock as well. SM, thanks for your time to get it going and keep it running smoothly. It was the first time for me and I think I learned quite a bit. Thanks guys for not hammering too badly. I think I was in the lead for the Biggest Reach Award for the Bears 1st rounder. :D

I have a new found respect for NFL GMs and HCs for sure.

What might look like a reach now could turn out to be the steal of the draft. I was in one of these mocks in 2005 & selected Justin Tuck for Detroit at #10. They actually took Mike Williams (WR) in the draft & Tuck went to the Giants in the 3rd round. Williams never did anything & is now in Seattle.

It took Tuck 2 years to get it going, but look at the player he's become. I bet Detroit wishes they could re-do that draft now. Their 2nd round pick was Shaun Cody (DE/DT). Guess what team he's on now? And he's not that good either.

Thanks Hottoddie,

Steelb said something similar at the time. I think he's going to be a solid player wherever he ends up.

I've got quite a few players I'm following to see if/where they get drafted.

Yeah, this draft was fun, and the first one I have ever been a part of. I think I got the Cleveland Browns headed in the right direction with these picks, but looking back on it, I should have taken Patrick Peterson with the 1st and picked up a DE in the 3rd. Oh well :)

Browns Draft:

1. Robert Quinn, DE
2. Cory Liguet, DT
3. Marcus Gilbert OT
4. Greg Little, WR
5. Kendrick Burney, CB
6a. Owen Marecic, FB
6b. Ross Homan, OLB

I like your draft but I feel that instead of getting a FB you could have gotten another player on defense or offense. Besides that, I see at least two starters with three players who will contribute in some capacity this season.

Good Job!

You do realize marecic is a two way player? Also very tough, productive ILB.

The Browns are in the same position with their elite FB as the Texans are with Leach. They seem to not want to pay the guy after helping Hillis to an amazing season, so I think they need to draft a FB like Owen or pick a couple up as UDFAs. Plus he might play backup WLB and should be awesome on special teams. I wouldn't be surprised if the Texans drafted him in the 5th or 6th due to his versatility, something Kubiak loves.

Seems reasonable to me,

That means Rick and Gary will never pick him.

I think that after the draft , we add up our picks by the round they were picked in . Then like in golf , the lowest score wins . If your guy doesn't get drafted then he's an 8 .

The teams without many draft picks have a certain advantage.

To make it fair every pick a team makes would be given a value from 1-8 based on the round they were selected, then you would divide that round that they were selected in our draft.

Then these values should be added together and divided by the number of picks that team had in the draft.

So if I drafted Cam Newton in the 1st round and he got picked up as an UDFA that is an 8, if my sleeper Mistral Raymond goes in the first and I picked him the 7th he is worth 1/7. Those two total 8.14. Divide that by two and you get an average draft of 4.07 or a 4th round draft. Which is average.

that & the fact your pick will be long gone by #15 :pop:
