2011 TexansTalk Member Mock Draft (FULL)

Minnesota selected Christian Ponder. Three QB's off the board when they were on the clock & they still went with a QB. The pick I had for them (Gabbert) went two picks earlier.

The Browns are in the same position with their elite FB as the Texans are with Leach. They seem to not want to pay the guy after helping Hillis to an amazing season, so I think they need to draft a FB like Owen or pick a couple up as UDFAs. Plus he might play backup WLB and should be awesome on special teams. I wouldn't be surprised if the Texans drafted him in the 5th or 6th due to his versatility, something Kubiak loves.

Round 4, Pick 27 (124) (From Falcons) Browns select: Owen Marecic

Wow, that's crazy. Good job.

The Titans picked Locker in the 1st . I picked him for the Titans in the 2nd after I picked Julio in the 1st .

Nice, good value.

Nice call Ndevine!!! Hard to hit the late ones.

Nailed the Keo pick.

Seems like alot of people this year got picks right.

Round 4 Pick 127 Owen Marecic, FB Stanford
Round 5 Pick 137 Buster Skrine CB Chattanooga
Round 5 Pick 150 Jason Pinkston OT Pittsburgh
Round 7 Pick 248 Eric Hagg S Nebraska

I got two of them right, but in later rounds for our draft :D Kendrick Burney was the only player that I drafted, but did not get drafted. I want the Browns in the 2012 mock draft. I think I can do a lot better now that I know more about the process. I certainly learned a lot about these players, and hope to see some of them starting regularly for the Browns in the future.

151. Pierre Allen, DE, Nebraska - undrafted + > 103
178. Ronald Johnson, WR, Southern California - 154th overall to San Fran - 24

You hit more of Dallas picks than I did. :cowboy1:

My Draft
11. Prince Amukamara Went 19 (-8)
42. Rahim Moore Went 45 (-3)
73. Chris Carter Went 162 (-89)
104. Jerrell Powe Went 199 (-95)
135. Shiloh Keo Went 144 (-9)
173. Vincent Brown Went 82 (+91)
203. Noel Devine Went Undrafted (-52+)

Poor scouting of my 3rd and 4th round pick pretty much destroyed my draft

25 - Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado -- 27 Ravens (-2)
57 - Tyler Sash, S, Iowa -- 198 Giants (-141)
98 - Tandon Doss, WR, Indiana -- 123 Ravens (-25)
153 - Jarriel King, OT, South Carolina -- UNDRAFTED
154 - Brandon Fusco, C, Slippery Rock -- 172 Vikings (-18)
168 - Delone Carter, RB, Syracuse -- 119 Colts (+49)
198 - Richard Sherman, DB, Stanford -- 154 Seahawks (+44)

Seahawk's Actual Draft

25 - James Carpenter, OL -- A reach. I think Smith would have been a better pick.
75 - John Moffit, G -- They traded down.
99 - K.J. Wright, LB
107 - Kris Durham, WR
154 - Richard Sherman, DB -- I got this pick.
156 - Mark Legree, S
173 - Byron Maxwell, DB
205 - Lazarius Levingston, DL
242 - Malcolm Smith, OLB

Honestly? I think I like my draft better. But they traded back to get more later round picks. I tried to fix the defensive backfield at the top of the draft and they tried to fix it at the end.

According to NFL.com, the Packers needs were: DL, LB, OL, CB, RB
I personally think they need a spark in the backfield to help Aaron Rodgers out.

My draft for the Greenbay Packers

Cameron Heyward DE
Kendall Hunter RB
DeMarcus Love OT
Daniel Thomas RB
Jarred Thomas S
Steven Friday LB
Scott Lutrus LB

Packers Draft

Dereck Sherrod OT
Randall Cobb WR
Alex Green RB
Davon House DB
DJ Williams TE
Caleb Schladeraff OL
DJ Smith LB
Ricky Elmore DL
Ryan Taylor TE
Lawrence Guy DT

I like mine better.

1(31) - Aaron Williams DB [went 2.34 to BUF; +3] - Actual pick was DL Cam Heyward
2(63) - Jarvis Jenkins DL [went 2.41 to WAS; -22] - Actual pick was OT Marcus Gilbert
3(95) - Clint Boling DL [went 4.101 to CIN; +6] - Actual pick was CB Curtis Brown
4(128) - Lee Ziemba OL [went 7.244 to CAR; +116] - Actual pick was CB Cortez Allen
5(162) - Jalil Brown CB [went 4.118 to KC; - 44] - Actual pick was LB Chris Carter
6(196) - Jeff Maehl WR [went undrafted; +59] - Actual pick was OL Keith Williams
7(232) - Devon Torrence CB [went undrafted; +34] - Actual pick was RB Baron Batch

+152 overall = pretty darn bad.

Aaron Williams, Jarvis Jenkins, Clint Boling and Jalil Brown were all good value.
Lee Ziemba dropped more than anyone thought: seemed a solid 3rd-5th rounder.
Jeff Maehl - almost selected Greg Salas who went in like the 4th but thought Maehl fit the Steelers better (what they would do in real life)... PIT didn't take a WR anyways.
Torrence was a group pick because I didn't have time, this late lost a lot on interest.

Good news is that the "points" that really hurt me were my 4th, 6th and 7th round picks. So it's not like I reached on my early picks, the guys with the most impact and that will actually make the team. -13 going into the 4th round is fair.

I'm noticing a trend of 4-6th round picks that were overdrafted by us. Seems like nearly everyone had 1 guy that went at the end of the 7th or UDFA.

In Mock/Acutal format
1. Aldon Smith DE, Missouri 20 / 7
2. Quinton Carter S, Oklahoma 51/108
3. Kelvin Sheppard ILB, LSU - 84/68
4. Greg Romeus, DE, Pittsburgh - 115/226
5. Brandon Hogan, CB, West Virgina - 148/98
6. Taiwan Jones, RB, Eastern Washington 182/125
7. Josh Thomas, CB, Buffalo 211/143

Total for my draft = +6 Carter and Romeus KILLED me. No UDFAs though and only 1 7th rounder.

The Bucs actual draft crushed mine (if Bowers is healthy).

Round 1, Pick 20 (20) Adrian Clayborn DE
Round 2, Pick 19 (51) Da'Quan Bowers DE
Round 3, Pick 20 (84) Mason Foster LB
Round 4, Pick 7 (104) Luke Stocker TE
Round 5, Pick 20 (151) Ahmad Black S
Round 6, Pick 22 (187) Allen Bradford RB
Round 7, Pick 19 (222) Anthony Gaitor CB --
Round 7, Pick 35 (238) Daniel Hardy TE

I was glad to see I drafted similar positions (2 DEs, LB, CB, SS, RB) Didn't have them taking tight ends though.

I'm noticing a trend of 4-6th round picks that were overdrafted by us. Seems like nearly everyone had 1 guy that went at the end of the 7th or UDFA.

I was pretty close on all my picks except I had Tyler Sash and Jarriel King VASTLY over-rated.

Walter Football had Sash going 53 in one mock and Gill Brandt had him as a Tier 6 player in his Top 100 and CBS Draft had him ranked as the #100 player. I felt like I was reaching for him at 57 in the mock but I didn't think I was reaching THAT much. Seattle didn't have a pick in the next round and I felt like getting a strong safety for them was a priority.

Walter Football had King going 126 so I thought drafting him at 153 was in line. But CBS draft had him ranked 308. So I screwed the pooch on that one.

The plus/minus of my Vikings draft:

Pick 12 Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri (Round 1 pick #10 to Jac) -2
Pick 43 Jabaal Sheard, DE, Pittsburgh (Round 2 pick #37 to Cle) -6
Pick 105 Will Rackley, OG, Lehigh (Round 3 pick #76 to Jac) -29
Pick 136 Ian Williams, DT, Notre Dame (undrafted) +118
Pick 147 Chris Culliver, S, South Carolina (Round 3 pick #80 to SF) -67
Pick 167 Brian Rolle, LB, Ohio State (Round 6 pick #193 to Phi) +26
Pick 204 Chykie Brown, CB, Texas (Round 5 pick #164 to Balt) -40

Total: 0

The plus/minus of my Saints draft:

Pick 24 Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama (Round 1 pick #28 to NO) +4
Pick 56 Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina (Round 2 pick #52 to NYG) -4
Pick 72 Sam Acho, DE, Texas (Round 4 pick #103 to Ari) +31
Pick 88 Mason Foster, OLB, Washington (Round 3 pick #84 to TB) -4
Pick 215 Bilal Powell, RB, Louisville (Round 4 pick #126 to NYJ) -89

Total: -62

I made one bad pick the entire mock in Ian Williams (+118). Other than that the only player I had that went later than the round I picked him was Sam Acho who went a round later.

+55 overall. Stupid Kendrick Burney. That's the last time I trust ESPN's talent evaluation when making a pick... F U MEL KIPER!!!

I have heard/seen something from a scout that there is minimal difference between a mid/late 5th rounder and a priority UDFA.
