wanted to give you props and respond to your thread & not start another but this could very likely be the route the Texans go. here is why-
excellent size 6-6 274, will play his first NFL season age 21, led the SEC in sacks & is also good in run support, so I'm thinking instead of RDE use him on the strongside, LDE in run support? with his speed he'll still apply pressure to the QB & how are teams going to be able to double team him with Mario on the other side? this would free up Mario to play the position he was drafted @ RDE excell & be the defensive playmaker everyone is hoping for. a healthy Mario, with NFL experience under his belt & weapon @ the other end could be plain flat dominant.
by drafting another big DE who could play LDE would allow the Texans to move Weaver (w/100% recovery from shoulder surgery) inside to tackle rotating with Payne & TJ. instead of re-signing UFA Peek to a big contract the Texans could free up cap space to pursue other needs like CB/LT/QB.
I understand this would put alot of pressure on Jamaal to produce early (seems like DL need one year to adjust to speed & power of NFL) but pending private workout & interview he could pass the test with flying colors. this move could conceivably help the Texans address multiple needs while significantly upgrading the Texans long term prospects
have four months to go & while I'm not signing off any type of man-love crushes just yet I would say you could definitely be on to something
I'm not sure if anyone from the Texans ever actually read this message board, but feel free to e-mail Rick Smith or call in talk radio when he's on & ask him what he thinks of Jaamal Anderson & what his NFL prospects are
