Good Lord Don't scare me like that. Silly GM wanted to draft a runningback.

With the 74th The San Francisco 49ers Select:

Mike Mickens CB Cincinnati

With Walt Harris getting long in the tooth it is time to look for a replacement.

Can either of you explain the reasoning behind your picks? I have no clue as to who your players are (with the exception of Marcus Freeman).

I have seen Mickens going in the 2nd round in a couple of mocks, so he's a good pick in the third.

The Bills are lacking depth at the OLB position. While Freeman will be a rookie he has experience in big games at the NCAA level, which would indicate that he could compete pretty quickly. He needs to add some strength but he could potentially be a solid backup SLB in his first year.

The pick was almost a BPA.

Well mine is simple, he performed well at the combine and his measurables relate to the pro game very well. While I have not watched him a lot I asked someone who has over at the ND site I goto and he raved about him. Mickens has earned honors every year he has started 2nd team big east '05, '06 and 1st '07. He was All-American 3rd team last year.

While there was others that were higher on my draft board as far as BPA, but the need to get a CB out weighed the BPA.

With the 76th selection in the NFL draft, the New York Jets select Pat White, QB, West Virginia.

His arm strength was a big surprise at the combine, and his versatility on the offense gives him the ability to play backup QB and receiver on a Jets team looking for offense.

Going offense in rounds 1-3 may be a little much for the Jets, but you gotta play like them like their dealt. With all the defensive help they received in free agency, they had the ability to draft BPA on day 1

The Houston Texans are now on the clock! :texflag:

77.) Houston Texans Select: Shaft75

78.) San Diego Chargers Select: Tailgate

79.) Denver Broncos Select: Kaiser Toro

80.) Washington Redskins Select: steelbtexan

For the Texans, still on the board (I think):

Rashad Jennings RB
Andre Brown RB

Couple of solid safeties are out there too.

My preference would be Lawrence Sidbury, DE.

My guess is Shonn Greene. There are a couple of other guys I would consider here, but my guess is he selects Greene.

Maybe , but there's still alot of backs left . I would be down to two players and if the Hogs played the Tigers in a bowl game ... they'd be looking at each other .

A lot of good picks available to us here.

Shaft75 will find a way to mess it up, though. We should just start booing now.

:jk:

How about Tyron McKenzie from USF. He is supposed to be gone by the 2nd but no one knows about him (well, of course except me :)) He is a tackling machine and a great addittion to our LB corps. Trevor Canfield is another option as well as my Michigan favorite Terrance Taylor who is a beast against the run and a poor mans Kelly Gregg.

I like McKenzie, I would not be opposed to him here but if we take Cushing I am.

Oh, I'd be all over McKenzie for this pick if we didn't already have Cushing in this scenario.

On the other hand, I think it's a round too early to be thinking Terrance Taylor... but he's another guy that I've got going to the Texans in one of my mocks.

Per Bahoo7 pm:

With the 73rd pick The Green Bay Packers Select:

Chase Coffman - TE, Missouri

fball022-at.jpg

Thanks for covering for me Spec.

Somebody give him some rep for me. I can't give him any right now.

Analysis: I have Coffman as a late 2nd/early 3rd round selection so he was right on the top of my board at this point.

The Packers don't look too bad at TE so Coffman was sort of a luxury pick, but he was BPA.

He isn't a great blocker but he gets the job done and he isn't afraid to poke his nose in there against a DE. He doesn't have great speed but he is deceptively quick and has great hands. He also probably runs the best routes of any of the TE's in this class.

He also has the versatility to play out of the slot as well.

Rashad Jennings RB

I'm probably the BIGGEST Rashad Jennings supporter on these boards. I think he is the PERFECT complement to Steve Slaton. (Sorry guys I'm a bit drunk!) Haha!

Trust me you arent the only one that knows about McKenzie around here. This board is full of draft knowlegeable people. I love TM and I dont care if we have drafted Mathews or Cushing in the first I still think he would be a great pick in the 3rd round for us. I dont care what he ran or benched at the combine the guy is a hell of a football player. He reminds me of Jon Beason.

If we really are going to have our 4 down linemen trying to penatrate and get into the backfield we are going to have to have LB's that can make plays all over the feild. McKenzie is that kind of a LB.

Taylor never impressed me and I watched him alot. He was just kinda there.

I would be happy with any of these players at this spot.
Tyrone McKenzie South Florida OLB43
Victor Harris Virginia Tech CB
Emanuel Cook South Carolina SS
Sammie Lee Hill Stillman DT43 DE34
Andy Kemp Wisconsin OG
Darcel McBath Texas Tech FS
Shonn Greene Iowa RBF
Jonathan Luigs Arkansas OC
Chip Vaughn Wake Forest SS

My two cents is Johnathon Luigis or Dorell Scott . There's alot of RBs , DBs , and LBs , still on the board . Those two are the hghest rated OL/DL by far ... on my sheet anyway .

Sorry folks. My father is in the hospital and has a meningioma, which is basically a tumor the size of a golf ball in his brain. Have had a tough weekend.

My pick is sidbury, because I think I can get my back in a later round.

Great pick I wanted Sidbury for the Redskins.

Great value

Dont like the pick personnaly. Sid is nothing but a pass rush specialist IMO. We can get those kind of players later.

With the 78th pick in the 2009 NFL draft, the San Diego Chargers select:

Kyle Moore DE, USC

613878.jpg

Tough Spot here. Chargers have major needs on both sides of the line still (DT, OT, G, DE)... and with a dwindling pool of players to choose from. Losing Igor to the Cowgirls along with Jamal Williams getting older makes it D-line help here. Kyle Moore is kinda under appreciated as a result of having to play in the shadows of so many great stars on that USC defense. Moore fits the mold for San Diego's multiple defensive system. He has great athleticism and skill for a man of his stature and should settle in at DE. Moore would be an upgrade over Igor imo and could benefit playing next to Jamal Williams.

Btw.... sorry for the delay. Work has been a pain in my arse these past couple of weeks.

With the 79th pick the Denver Broncos select S Darcel McBath, Texas Tech. The Broncos secondary is many moons old and this former CB turned S can learn from the best under Dawkins and Bailey.

With the 80th pick in the NFL DRAFT the Washington Redskins select Jonathan Luigs C Arkansas

Players I also considered were McKenzie, Brandon Williams & Moala.

The need to rebuild the Redskins OL & the value of Luigs who is one of the most atheletic OL in the draft made this pick a no brainer IMO. There will be no excuses for Jason Campbell this year. If the draft fell this way I would expect Portis to have a big year.

Ouch. I like Harris but he is a cover 2 corner and Tampa is changing their defense. I don't think he will fit into the new scheme unless it is going to be similar to the old one.

I think he would do well as Nickel while learning to work in man coverage.

...which is exactly what we need - a pass rush specialist, and specifically - he's a SPEED rusher, which is something we don't have. We have our situational bull/power rush guy in Bulman, and it would be great to have a great speed-rusher as well to come in, change the pace, and keep the offense off balance. Sure, there will be others later in the draft, but this guy has a ton of talent and though I don't see him as a longtime starter - I think he can potentially wreak havoc as a situational rusher.

LOVE the pick.

On the personal side - Shaft, positive thoughts your way, man. I would be completely destroyed if this happened to my dad. So much that I can't even think about it without feeling sick.

Take care and know we're keeping you and your pops in our thoughts.

Which is why he isnt worth a 3rd IMO. There were players left that could potentially start. Its just a personal opinion of mine that specialist shouldnt be picked up until the 4th or later. 1st 2nd and 3rd round picks are just to valuable to take someone that cant contribute on a regular basis.

I don't disagree with your logic here - but in the case of our crippled pass rush, we need a complete make-over... plus, you rotate defensive linemen in and out more than most other positions, so he would see the field plenty.

Like you said, personal preference... but I'd LOVE to see this guy in a Texans uni.
