You want a guy who has never called plays in his life? Smh
This is along the lines of what I'd do .... Knowing we can't get off of the Watson / Tunsil contracts. I'd also keep Akins - I think he's got real potential , particularly in a WCO type system.
Have to start up front - fix the C spot and another quality OG to go with that stud RB.
No more of this stupid pistol RPO crap where we don't apply the principals of the system - we're getting under center , pounding the rock using a lot of 2 TE sets and using a heavy dose of play action off of that.
Simplify the offense and build an identity of beating teams in the trenches. Control the ball & the clock .... make teams desperate. Watson can play superman when plays break down but otherwise - stick to the script.
All of the WR's would be part of the salary dump - along with Johnson and Johnson.
The defense is a bit more complicated .... but I'd start with a fire sale dumping salary - Watt , Mercilus , McKinney - move them for what I can get which probably isn't much - maybe a contender would take Watt for a 3rd or 4th to bolster a playoff run ?
Mercilus / McKinney return much less and you eat some dead money on Mercilus but this is about clearing the deck for the near future.
Knowing our luck.....probably longer. Like the browns or Miami for example
So this is what will save OB's job. The season will be canceled and BOB will survive another season. Great.Titans are reporting several positive COVID tests. Haven't heard anything from Vikes yet.
I read article this morning defending a QB saying he made some mistakes but had not been helped much by GMs choice of players brought in thru FA and draft plus poor trades. The head coach is horrible and losing the players. Team would deny if asked but had contacted a coach search organization......Jets could trade Darnold for a decent return and draft Trevor Lawrence which would create total delirium in NY. NY advertising companies would be shiteing themselves in preparation to gear up for Namath 2.0!!! Also, wouldn’t hurt the Jets feelings that they also have 5 years of control.
Yeap; they (Browns and Dolphins) both benefited from trade with O'Brien. Both of those franchises have a brighter future than the Texans.
Just to clarify, Fuller and Stills contracts end this season so unless you meant trading during season would not bring anything. I too would keep Scharpie but if you keep Watson Tunsil you have no high picks you might draft RB in third; whom do you think that stud would be? Or are you saying trade all our picks to get a stud in mid to late round two? How do we get help for other positions?I'd keep tunsil, watson, sharping and howard, everyone else is on the table. What ever draft picks i get back in return I'd package it and get me a stud RB in the draft and make him the focal point of the offense, which means ill probably let go one of cooks/cobbs/fuller/stills.
Watson can just feed of the RB instead of trying to play hero ball
At the very least devlin is gone
Wouldn't moving Cobb create same dead money problem you voiced with Tunsil and Watson? This is along the lines of what I'd do .... Knowing we can't get off of the Watson / Tunsil contracts. I'd also keep Akins - I think he's got real potential , particularly in a WCO type system.

Isn't nfl testing evéry two days if player tests positive?Well, that sux.
At least, it seems like all of the cases (8) are asymptomatic.

I've no idea.Isn't nfl testing evéry two days if player tests positive?

Najee HarrisI'd be all over Travis Etienne in that scenario.
The Texans aren't "Patriots South" .... they are "Browns South". Inept for a decade plus.
48 hours is what I heard. The meat of their practice leading up to this game.Vikes suspending activities today, not sure how long.

If this game isn’t rescheduled and the Texans still lose with this kind of advantage, I don’t see how the Texans can escape a losing season. Mathematically it’s possible, of course, but losing to a winless team that was unable to properly prepare for you would be the gut punch of all gut punches.
Wouldn't moving Cobb create same dead money problem you voiced with Tunsil and Watson?
Think it's nine million. Man I really thought NFL had decided to allow dead money as part of 'lost' to remain as is over the contract. That crunches future. Hope Stills and Fuller play great. And teams offer us a second round for each..whahaha !I didn't do the math for Cobb .... but you are probably right that it would create some dead money but if we're clearing the decks - take your lumps and get it over with as long as its not the 16/10m for the other two.

That’s the spin he’s going with, I guess. I wonder what he’ll be saying on the radio on Monday if they lose? Fans aren’t going to want to hear the excuse that the reason the Texans lost was because the Vikings were down 2 or 3 days of preparing for this game. That it gave them some kind of emotional advantage. If that really turns out to be the case, the Texans are softer mentally than I thought.Seth Payne on 610 says this isn't that big of an advantage as people would think. And considering the Vikes were 0-3 and playing poorly, sometimes these type of breaks can help.
Am I in the “fantasy football” section of this message board?
Madden franchise mode!
J/K badboy! I actually love this thread, simply because it gives me a little hope for a post-O'Brien future.
I'm ready for the owners to hit the proverbial reset button. . .
I'm not enamored with any player on the roster if it means more draft capital under a new GM & HC.
Well, I guess Nasty Nate is all in on a guy who hasn't ever called plays before. I just hope this guys not another Nagy.
You actually trust O’Brien trading away more stars and replacing them with someone just as good for cheaper? When has that ever happened? I’d be ok with all those players being let go only if it’s to allow a new HC to pick all the players he wants/needs for his system. O’Brien’s defense was only that good because of the roster he inherited. What player on defense has he signed or drafted (besides Reid) that was actually any good? He still depends on Kubiak/Wade‘s guys to this day, even though they’re clearly over the hill.Sure but moving Watt, Tunsil and Watson & David Johnson saves millions. If moved we should be replacing them with cheap rookie contracts. I think we need a coach that can mould young players as this move reduces roster age average a lot.
His personality leaves a lot to be desired, but I'd trust a guy from the Andy Reid coaching tree over most.
Were you imbibing adult beverages when you posted this stuff? You are incorrect on contracts of all three. Tunsil and Dashaun have to be traded to get draft picks in 2020. Like them or not has zero to do with moving team forward. We are moving backwards with them on team for whatever reason. We are not staying even but going in reverse and that is good only in destruction derbies which ends with participants destroyed.
Nope no longer imbibe just incorrect apparently as I believed NFL had agreed to let dead money remain spread over the contract. another person corrected me.Were you imbibing adult beverages when you posted this stuff?
Why?
Pederson/Nagy haven't been all that great.
Philly won a SB, yes. But their offense since then has been below avg at best. I mean they tied the Bengals last week is a perfect example and only put up 23 pts on the Bengals awful defense and that's with overtime. My Bear friends are rumbling about Nagy's playcalling.
He's employing the double down method at the casino. It's just a waiting game now to see if this was the loss I was waiting (not to be confused with hoping) for. If it's status quo this week...O'Brien develops the game plan against Jacksonville and the Texans fall flat against the Jags, then this is not the game I needed. The Texans lost this game pretty much how they lost the previous 3. The offense looked exactly the same. The defense exhibited poor tackling technique...just like all year. And the result was a big fat L at the end of it.
In short, it was an insanity game. O'Brien continues to do the same thing over and over expecting a different result.
Did you really just say "Philly won a superbowl, but..."??? Are you drunk? The superbowl IS the goal. We win one and I don't give a **** what happens the next 8 years.
No, it's just a diversion tactic of yours we all know too well.A fair statement,
But there will be no SB's with the 160 mil $$$$ man even with Lombardi/Landry/Walsh being reincarnated to coach the Texans.
Dont take this as a pro BOB post.
No, it's just a diversion tactic of yours we all know too well.![]()

Diversion from the real problem at hand, and that is to point all ten fingers (and everything else you have, LOL) at the GM, the HC, and the OC.Diversion from what?
Cooks had 3 official targets yesterday, but obviously amounted to nothing.Kubiak was able to get a rookie acclimated to the game with 100 yard games in back to back games.
I don't think Brandon Cooks was even targeted yesterday & neither he or Cobb has had a 100 yard game.
Veterans.
Their rookies and PS DBs don't need practice to play against the baddest speediest receiving corp in the whole wide world.& The Vikings didn't practice.
Let's see...#1 check. #2 check..Both teams are terrible. If Houston loses and they could do you agree we need to start moving players to prepare for future? Regardless of what you think about coaches or HC/GM or players or whom should get what percentage of blame (I think plenty to go around) is it time to move on?
It is for me. I am not angry or surprisingly disgusted. I just don't think we're going anywhere and it's time to change that. I think O' Brien could still sway the McNair's by saying we lost to better team in Kansas City and Baltimore and even Steelers but if we do not win and handily next Sunday, Cal is going to be bombarded even more. It is also easy for me to predict several other losses before we get to Browns. Jags are 50 50 to me..if that.
No use whining about poor contracts as with Cunningham, Mercilus or Martin..history! Same with trade of you know who for you know who coming in...history! Yeah Reader is gone, PJ is scrambling against multiple blockers Blacklock and Greenard were held out...history!
Doesn't matter who is ruining whose career, this season is or soon will be a disaster. Watson and Tunsil are in prime years even with their contracts. Go to overthecap.com and change the dead money and cap saving column to Post June 1 trade for years after 2020.
Tunsil, Watson and maybe McKinney are only trade options that might/should bring in high picks. I posted elsewhere that Watt needed a good game to interest Pittsburgh in trading for him to get them closer to divisional game but JJ couldn't get it done. If we want anything for him needs to be moved before he plays himself out of any value and I mean after October 4th say October..5th! Sure McNairs want to retire his jersey but he might soon be worth only a jersey. Loyalty means he gets paid fifteen million while earning 15,000.
1. Fire O'Brien today (Monday).
2. Crennel not Weaver takes over HC and DC. Do whatever you want with Weaver.
3. OC? Who the --knows? Is Kelly calling what he wants and being held accountable? Would he change if Bill terminated?
4. Trade JJ for what we can get now
and allow Omenihu to take over. We need to see what we have with Blacklock & Greenard.
5. Give out feelers that Laremy and Deshaun could be had for good deals for Houston after June 1 2021. Trade partners select whom we want and swap is made then. Like 2020, draft in 2021 as of now only offer one stand above QB, Trevor Lawrence. Does Carolina, Jets, and Minnesota want to see TL get hurt like Tu'a Tag? Do they hope a little known has season of his life as did Joe B to push the alleged #1 pick out? What about Dolphins? Do they hope Tu'a is better than Watson or even Fitzpatrick?
Watson has a no trade but does he want to risk a re-whatever you call it? Going to NY with new coach [Dabo or his OC] and a new GM that has a first and maybe a second for Sam Donald left after trading for Dashaun could be enticing. Think he could get a few more commercials? Now will his momma let him play there or in sin city? That may prove to be biggest obstacle.
Yeah, I know you want to keep him around but then it back to routine. What coach will come here with this roster and no pick til third? No cap?
Maybe I am just a little angry and disgusted after all.
Edited as I didn't preview.
