I like all of them more than what we currently have as sad as it may seem.I would avoid every single player you mentioned. Not a fan of any of them.![]()

If you mean Case and Thadd, I would mostly lump them together. Hoyer and RGIII would be the cream of that crop, such as it is.I like all of them more than what we currently have as sad as it may seem.
We don't want to wait too long to find out. Hopefully one or both are healthy going into 2015 and one emerges. If there is some immediate help in free agency or a trade opportunity that makes sense this off-season we should explore all options. Even in the 2015 draft. If there is a quarterback worth taking in the first or second round we shouldn't hesitate.Right now, we don't know what we have in Mallet or Savage. Or they any good or not? We have barely seen them so we don't really know what they are capable of.
So you like my mock?If I had my rathers, it would be Mallett, Savage, & a rookie... in that order.
No other teams have either, though. That should make Mallett much cheaper and Savage is under contract.Right now, we don't know what we have in Mallet or Savage. Or they any good or not? We have barely seen them so we don't really know what they are capable of.
Mallet, we'll probably draft a guy in the first 3 rounds too. Might as well keep drafting them until you find that guy.
But Mallet should be the #1 guy starting the year.
What does the round have to do with anything? Y'all throw that crap around like the draft position determines something. Teams draft players according to where they have them ranked in terms of talent and need at different positions. Drafts are the ultimate gamble.Mallet, we'll probably draft a guy in the first 3 rounds too. Might as well keep drafting them until you find that guy.

I would go with Mallett/Savage (whoever wins in TC) and BPA in every round. If it was me (IF), i would go w/ Mallet as starter, draft a Big Fast WR in the first, go LB then TE, safety, etc..
90% chance Mallett starts game #1 next season IMO.

Too bad we won't get a chance to evaluate either Mallett or Savage adequately before draft time. Mallett is more likely to be the franchise QB but we can't count on it. We must draft a QB in the 1st round, and as high up as we can get by reasonable trading.
I want Mallett to be the Week 1 starter for 2015. If he doesn't show that he can be the franchise quarterback, (or Savage for that matter) I want the Texans to draft Connor Cook or Christian Hackenberg in 2016.
Mallett won't be ready to get the reps in training camp so I think we at least begin with Keenum or Savage at the helm. There is no reason to push Mallett back into contact work before he is FULLY recovered and that could easily be half way through next season with even a minor setback during rehab.
If Mallett can't play, then roll with Savage for 2015 and Fishsticks can back him up and play the mentor role.
And a player has a better chance at being good than if he were drafted in the 1st than the 7th.
All I said is that I'm sure we'll target a QB in early rounds, we'd be dumb not to. Teams also draft players depending on what other teams need too and who they think other teams will draft.
I could easily see a situation where Mallett becomes our IR player with recall rights after week 8 while rolling with Fitz, (Keenum or Lewis) and Savage.
But I'm afraid he will rush the rehab on the advice of his agent to maximize his value in free agency and end up harming his career.
Jay Cutler anybody? If we're going to mention the likes of RGIII then he may as well generate some mention if nothing else. His contract is too big but there could always be a lot of restructuring before hand. Assuming he's traded. I wonder if the Bears would simply cut him? Then he'd be easier to sign.
Yet, for all of these points, I have to ask, is Cutler the QB I think he is? Has he really fallen back into the lack of so-so starters or is he still capable of being a difference maker? I'm fairly confident the likes of JJ and AJ wouldn't allow him to let his attitude get in the way for the Texans but where is his talent level at right now?
Eh, I'm with you on Winston, not so much on Mariota. You don't have to be up that early in the draft to take a decent QB. And even if we did, I wouldn't touch Jamies Winston or Marcus Mariota with ten foot poles.
I think it will be a head to head comp between Mallet and Savage.
Yep.I don't think you move up for a QB unless it's Mariota.
Agreed. Even if Rick Smith had the picks to do it, not sure he could. And I don't think we'll have nearly enough firepower to move up that far.
I'm right here too unless he proves to be cost prohibitive.
Right now, that is what I would favor as well. Let's Fitzy go and let's go with the young guns. This is assuming you can resign Mallett at a reasonable rate.
Mallett's reward for playing hurt in Sunday's loss was 60 minutes of bad film heading into the open market.
Heading into his age-27 season as a statue-esque pocket passer with only 79 career throws, Mallett is going to be a strange case in free agency.
1. FA QB
2. Fitz
3. Savage
Brian Hoyer may be more likely than Mallet at this point, due to Mallet's 9-12 months of recovery time.
Seriously? Mallet's recovery time is that long?
Jezzz, I didn't realize it took that long to heal a torn tittie.

And while Mallett is in the final year of his contract, his future could still be with the Texans. NFL Network reported the Texans have told Mallett they want him back in 2015. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Mallett wants to be back and should be healthy by April.
Advanced Strengthening Phase (12-16+ weeks)
The final phase of the post-operative program following pectoralis tendon repair is the Return to Activity Phase and occurs after 12-16+ weeks. The goals for this period include full AROM/PROM of the shoulder and a gradual return of full strength for resumption of all prior activities of vocation or daily living.
Dear God, please let Connor Cook declare eligibility for the 2015 draft.
Would love to see more comment on this possibility. Cutler just got benched for Jimmy Clausen.
His attitude sucks when he's on a bad team, but if we can pick him up for either a mid-late round pick or as a free agent I think he can be an upgrade on what we've got. We can offer him a quality Oline, quality running game, and, assuming AJ actually works this offseason, and the TE position gets sorted too, possibly the best receiving corps he's seen.
Dead money comes off the books this offseason and there are some cuttable high earners giving the Texans wiggle room to get a deal done.
It frees up the top of the draft to focus on other positions of need and we can continue to draft mid round QBs until we find the rough diamond to become the franchise QB for the long term.

Mallet will be our QB for next year, and most likely the year after unless we find a diamond in the rough.

He must be getting confused with Clowneys return...

BOB: Says @Ryan_mallett_15 being around is a big help because he knows this offense better than anyone, Fitzy included.

Pretty sure Mallet is our Diamond in the rough !
