It could say and we have read post that indicate there was no conversation between the Texans and Chip Kelly at all. Therefore he did not have an opportunity to accept or decline CJ Stroud.
Well, Kubiak didn’t bother. Neither did Kelly. So far none of the top “options”.
Our QB has to be babysat. Yes that pisses me off. He also has no business picking the OC. They really gave Bobby two years to figure it out, fired him and have no legitimate options. None of these names mentioned have a shot at being more creative than Spags.

Money talks. DeMeco is a well-paid HC and Kelly makes more than him. The Texans weren’t going to pay a coordinator more than their HC.
Did not realize how low DeMeco ranks in HC salaries. Could that be a bias against defensive coaches? It seems like unless you’ve won a Super Bowl, you better be an offensive oriented HC to get the big money:

To clarify..I’m not saying the current regime will be fired if Kelly balls out and our new OC does not. By downfall…I’m saying just that Folks from fans to ownership will be marking them down and worried they can’t choose an OC… and yes eventually…it could lead to firings, but no not after 2025.

Wouldn't mind Stenavich. With his background in coaching OL, this might address our OL problems. But his lack off passing game experience is a concern. Ideally, we would need a Passing Game Coordinator, to address this aspect of the offense. Perhaps Jarrod Johnson could be elevated to this position if our intent was to stay with the WC. Or someone else. If we wanted to move to the Spread, perhaps we could entice Nixon with an offer. Or someone else.
But whoever, we need experience/plan for both the OL/running game and the passing game.
Hopefully Lazar is aware of his shortcomings & is helping them find someone who doesn’t have those

Honest question - what made Kubiak a prize get? That’s to anyone.
Some of Kubiak’s critiques were he couldn’t adapt on the fly. Another is if he couldn’t run on first and second down then his offense sputtered.
He did good work with what he was given which wasn’t much. OL problems, QB problems, WR problems etc.
Outside of his last name and family connection what made him most desirable?
I think they are talking about Klint Kubiak. The Saints started on fire in 2024

I remember they started on fire. But it was against the panthers and cowboys. Which we know those teams weren’t even middle of the pack teams for most of the year.
They started 2-0. Then the saints went on a 7 game losing streak.

Honestly, I want to get away from the Kubiak/Shanny style of offense.
Chances are pretty high that it wont be Shanny offense...Even the WCO guys they have interviewed are from the McVay said of that street.
So I am wanting to be pissed about Chip Kelly, but the whole Kelly was offered double what any OC made last year and would make significantly more than Ryans tells me that I need to just move on.

It's only rare because coaches voluntarily retiring is rare. Usually the league retires them by not giving them a job.

Unless Demeco got a $3-4M raise before signing Chip Kelley, I don't see a reason for you to dwell in that house any longer. I'm convinced they have their guy and will announce something soon. I'm getting a little anxious myself, just hoping they hit a homerun at OC.

Don't disagree about the OL and its coach; but Bobby dug his own grave with play calling and a complete and utter inability to self scout and adapt.
HC did what he needed to do and fired a friend. I'd be much more critical of DeMeco if Bobby was still the OC

The Texans are hiring Nick Caley as their offensive coordinator, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday.
The man is 73 and the oldest coach in the NFL. I doubt he'll be coaching 5 years from now.

He deserved going for not adjusting to our **** injury situation and putting the team in a position to succeed but let's be forthright about the fact that that's why he was, and not because he sucks even if all things are good. I think he may be better elsewhere. Don't think he's doomed to suck.

Don't think he "took the fall" or was scapegoated, Slowik did not meet expectations and got fired for it. The injuries don't excuse the eight (7?) week drought of touchdowns in the second half.

No, you're totally right. His inability to put the team in a position to win despite the catastrophic bullshit that befell this team is totally 100 percent worthy of getting rid of him. You'd think we'd be able to adjust *something* to, among other things, ******* score in the 2nd half in games. Horrendous watching it week to week.
But he was the one who took the fall. He paid the price for those failures. The responsibility laid at his feet ultimately. I think he'll be good in another spot since we did see him being better even in similar injury/execution circumstances in 2023. But hey, whatever.
I just hope we shore up all those positions in the draft and FA because if it happens next year, it'll be DeMeco that pays that price. And nobody wants that.
